I've got that feeling too

Team is more or less what I'd have picked - though I'd have had Adomah in the squad and maybe in the team, and not gabby

Bit light on defensive cover but I guess Jedi or Elmo would need to fill
In

Johnstone

Bree Terry (C) Chester   Taylor

Onomah  Whelan      Hourihane

Elmo      Davis       Green

Subs: Steer, Snodgrass, Hogan, Gabby, Bjarni, Lansbury, Jedinak.

Surprised Snodgrass isn't starting or Hogan. Elmo on a front three is so underwhelming. Strong bench if the first 11 is shite.

Kind of predictable, but continuity all the same.

It'll be interesting to see how Whelen does, as he was under fire from Irish fans after the Georgia game. I think he has done ok so far, but should be replaced when he tires, as he most likely will. Bruce needs to be pro active today.

I predicted 2-2, but am changing to 3-2 to us.

But for once I fancy us to really bag a few today

Sorry everyone

Ah, didn't see Agbonlahor on there. He's definitely a favourite of Bruce's.

Whelan will struggle today I feel. The onus will be on our midfield to get us playing at home and I can't see him adding anything in that regard.

Weird that there are no defensive subs on the bench. Is De Laet injured again? We have by far the strongest squad in the league considering who hasn't even made the 18 today, no excuses.

Big opportunity for James Bree today.

Well, most teams have the knack of some sort of continuity. We don't at present.

As passitsideways pointed out above, we need the midfield to get involved.

Davis seems a bit isolated, that's all. Plenty of time to go yet.

Sorry to me Elmohamady starting in an advanced forward position is just a negative selection imo. He's going to be one of these I can just see shoe horned into the team week after week when there are better options available.

We have Snodgrass and Hogan against his old club on the bench. Get them on!

If they were on the front foot, but made mistakes because they are not quite on the same wavelength, that would be one thing. But the lack of an ideas or urgency seems inexcusable. Other teams make changes and still manage to play coherently, which seems to have been beyond villa except for norwich and the first half against hull.

I just have him in my mind as a right back playing out of position.Bit like De La Cruz used to be. Dosen't seem to have played there much but to me it's just a boring and safe selection in the final third as we know he'll track back.

Probably going to be my regular starting 11 pet hate player now we've sold a few of them and Hutton seems to have disappeared from the squad.

He's being played out of position. He doesn't have the legs to play anywhere else other than as a defensive midfielder. Stick him there and he's fine. Ask him to run around too much and he looks lost.

My only hope is that Brentford feel so comfortable Smith doesn't feel the need to change things around as Bodger can never react to managers changing tactics.

I'm fine with getting inexperience. Last night Derby had Nugent, Davies, Johnson,Huddlestone, Baird who all looked so comfortable on the ball. None of those players are any better than what we have but I would put money on them battering us right now. Bruce looks so out of his depth right now.

They are better than that and won't be in the bottom 3 in May. We have to win these types of games to have any chance of top 2 though and we still simply don't look like having the consistency to do that as we just don't play well enough that often.

Bruce is clueless. Fully expected him to sign Alex on the last day of the window.

His signings looked promising, but he's somehow managed to turn them into worse players.

Dr. X, if Bruce stays, the Villa Engine will never get off the ground.

Green and Davis off, Snodgrass and Hogan on.

Maybe bringing Snodgrass on before the B6/BMH syndrome strikes will get us a goal. After a training session or two, he'll no doubt be like all the others who had potential when they joined which Bruce and his coaches have knocked out of them.

That really was too bad.  I've tried to be patient with Bruce but I just can not see how a squad with this experience & quality can be so utterly dire and devoid of ideas.  They only fight in the last few seconds, as if they suddenly realise how shit they have been.  The manager has to inspire and motivate the players, and that is so OBVIOUSLY not happening.  Dr Tony needs to swing his axe tonight.  I've seen enough.
