Yes, this is great news. Saw it reported in the Birmingham Mail.

I think I'd happily pay the £100 odd quid.

Sorry meant to get back to you the other day VL. Yes this superb news. The days of watching games via someone's cell phone in the Upper Doug, or via some foul mouthed nose down at the sty appears to be a thing of the past.

From what I gather, Villa have declined this so may not be good news for expats. Please see page 16:

AVTV is commentary only I believe?
If the club have declined the ifollow platform they will still have the option to show all the games through AVTV next season, at least that's how I read it?
Bloody better!!!!!

I've just filled in a survey from the Club regarding live games for overseas fans. Disappointed to discover that while under Steve Bruce the games will be broadcast in black & white.

On a more serious note, anybody outside the UK that wants to contribute to the survey can do so here (http://bit.ly/2qM06NI).

No idea yet. Previously on AVTV it took 48 hours or so. But when they do pre season games its right after the game.

Also no idea (presumably not) as to whether they do the replays for broadcast games which they dont stream live.

I guess we will find out pretty quick :)

Now comes the question of tech. How to get it fullscreen on the TV.

Would hope screen mirroring isn't only way (android).

Any advice appreciated!

I was about to pay for the season but given the long standing track record of AVTV tech failure, they've only got my money for one game at present.  Using a laptop - no video at present, just background audio of the stadium.  Same for others?

There was just brief video from the stadium then it went back to the background, still have audio though.

All this talk of vpn is making me uneasy. If the club are watching.

There's no way around the geoblocking if you're in the UK you simply cannot watch.

A vpn service such as private internet access which I certainly didn't use today to watch the match would definitely not work at all so no point in trying.

You'd be wasting your time to simply make up an address in a foreign country as the sign up page and payment screen is far too sophisticated.

You with me?

I'm with you. Winky-wink.

For anyone interested, however, VPN services aren't illegal so are therefore perfectly legitimate to use - in what capacity, is up to you and your conscience.

They are generally subscription based, you always get what you pay for, so don't expect freebies.

They're just a piece of software you download, register an account with and cough up, and connect to - no techy knowledge needed really. There are a multitude out there, and as I said in the previous post, mostly subscription based, so do some research as to what would suit your needs and read up on some reviews.

So far it is not worth the money. Sadly. Other clubs and the iFollow service get the match replays up 24 hours after. If you pay for AVTV Live you wait a week.

Frustrating.

edited for clarity. The live streaming works great so far.

I feel the need to put a warning on here.  Under no circumstances should you sign up to a VPN and use a foreign address.  It might lead to you actually having to watch this shite.

After you buy the match or season on AVTV Just log in to the AVTV site (same as the main avfc one) and the stream for the match is below Plays right out of your browser. No flash or sillyness required. Works well.

Good advice.

Netflix, for example, have succeeded in blocking 95% or more of VPN's/Proxies. It all depends on how much time, effort and dosh the site is prepared to invest into implementing and maintaining a black list of IP addresses/domains.

I have no idea how it is in Australia but here in California its solid as a rock and the picture quality & commentary is very good. I think they had some teething problems the first match but now they are finding their groove.

No they are irregular in getting the full game replays up. So far they are faster (within a day or so) when we win. For games we lose or draw they can take up to a week or more to get them out. Bristol is still not up yet for example. Whether this has things to do with SKY or AVTV's internal slowness i cant tell you.
