We are away scheme members and when sorting the season tickets I was going to renew the away scheme for our 3 at the same time. They mentioned that there is no news re the scheme going forward and having called a few times that still seems the same.
Does anyone know what the plans are or has it been mentioned in the Supporter/club meetings I know some attend on here.
-
I was told there will be changes, but what they will be I don't know.
-
I don't see the point in it to be honest, other then saving the hassle of booking tickets online. I've only missed one this season (Norwich) and have been to at least fourteen aways every season prior to this one. Never had a problem.

You could say the same about season tickets! Away scheme is very good, like a home season ticket, if you don't want the hassle of having to order/remember to order tickets each game - and you want to sit with friends or family each time.
It's a very good service.
-
I understand that ordering with our history is fine but the point above is the big advantage. They just appear so if travelling with work etc I dont need to mess with ordering but also we stand next to the same group at all games so after all these years they are friends and part of the experience of going is catching up with Villa mates.
-
It's a huge benefit for me. It's impossible for me to buy in person and due to my job I would find it difficult to buy on an individual basis.
Once I bought my season ticket, I don't really think about purchasing from the Villa until the next renewal of the season ticket and away scheme membership.
-
Can you opt out of certain games? Ideally I'd like an away season ticket that just covered Saturdays. I don't have much annual leave so can't do midweek matches.

The rules of the current scheme mean that you can return up to 5 tickets per season
-
Thanks. Might look into whether this would be a good idea.
-
One theory I've heard - but it may be without foundation - is that Villa are waiting to see what the capacity of our opponents' grounds is (Fleetwood?) before deciding the size of the away scheme
-
That would make sense, I guess. Given that, in the seventies, you could cram far more people into grounds, I wonder if Fleetwood would have the lowest capacity of any stadium we've played a League game at?
-
There were 660 in the scheme for last season. I think the scheme was closed at 1000 under O'Neill.
-
Right - now Fleetwood aren't in the frame, let's get the scheme sorted.
-
Without doubt the scheme contains a good percentage of Villa's most avid away fans. It can be abused though. Even though I am a season ticket a good number of m y away tickets came my way indirectly from the scheme.
People will counter this quite correctly that prices for the likes of Sheff Wed, Leeds and no doubt next season Sheff Utd make the day out far too expensive.
If it was left to me just leave it alone - us supporters can then continue to sort ourselves out.
-
I expect that the number will be limited again as Burton are still in our division. Wish they would get it sorted now that Fleetwood isn't an issue.
-
Not like the Villa to drag their heels...
-
I renewed my season ticket last Friday and I asked about the away scheme. I was told that details would be announced after the 9th - I guess they are concentrating on renewals at the moment !
-
I spoke to a chap @ the Ticket Office on Sat and he said everyone who was in the scheme last year will get a letter about it sometime on or around the 12th of June
-
Called to get an update as I am away for large bits of the summer with work and holidays then also Germany pre-season trip etc I wanted to sort it.
Apparently letters are going out today or tomorrow and existing members places are guaranteed until June 30th. No idea of changes to plan but the letter will explain.
-
Letter arrived today.
-
only a quick look but it seems the same rules as last year
-
Anyone looking to get shot of their Brentford /Bloooose tickets (aways) please let me know.
-
You can have my reference for Small Heath away, if you want. I don't know if it will guarantee a ticket, though.
-
Just come home to my letter. What's actually changed?
-

got a season ticket just wont have enough away credits will be missing Reading and Bristol so will be stuffed
-
I should have some away credits by the time we play Small Heath, hopefully. Mind you, I may be on holiday when the tickets go on sale. Send me a PM nearer the time, anyway.
-
Buy the tickets and sell them on. Both will sell out so you'll get face value. Yorkshire Villa buy them up and are a good bunch.
-
Hey I'm looking for some help. I'm entitled to join the away scheme and was wondering what the £25 join fee covered? The man on the phone said it was just to join and all fees would still apply. Is this the case? If so wouldn't I be better off just buying the tickets when they go on sale? as it would cost £100 for the 4 of us to join. Thanks
-
It's always been £25. Essentially it's to avoid you having to bother with the ticket office until next May/June.
I think it's worth it. I was trying to buy an extra ticket for the Sty, however they went on sale at 5pm and I was somewhere on the M62 heading to Barnsley and by the time I got there, they'd sold out.
-
As said I think the £25 is for convenience plus also maybe it helps with people just signing up who might return loads of tickets just to get Blues ones etc . I find it very convenient as I now forget about the tickets until May next year.
-
Just come home to my letter. What's actually changed?
Nothing that I can see
-
It was capped at 660 last season. It may be that it's increased but I can think why they'd delay it for so long.
-
I take it new people can't join?
-
Not until after 30th June.
Given I've been seeing the same faces for decades I'd imagine very few don't renew.
-
As I expected, thanks.
-
Thanks for the reply's guys i'll have a think and see what to do. It would be nice not to worry about having to get tickets.
Also you can join the away scheme now if you have season tickets + 15 aways from last season
-
From the SCG they stated that they had an issue with the way the away fixtures had fallen, in that Burton, Blues, and Wolves all fall very early in the season.
They realised that someone could join the away scheme for the early season, and then leave the scheme immediately after these fixtures, having gained a significant advantage over non-away scheme members who had attended 15+ games last season.
Therefore, only those who were members last season and attended the minimum qualifying games, and those who were not away scheme members but attended 15+ away games last season can apply at this stage.
This strikes me as well thought through and very fair.
-
That seems entirely fair.
