20th March 1976 - Nicholl 4, Leicester 2
This was my first trip to the old Filbert Street - anyone else there that day ?
-
Me :)
Remember only the strong arms of my mates dad stopped us being absolutely crushed against the barriers that day.
-
Yes. It was surreal as I recall.
-
Was there that day, unbelievable for Chris Nichol but poor John Burridge in our goal conceding two from his own centre half
-
I was there, there was a sense of 'you'll never see that again'.
-
Me.

That crappy corner bit for away fans at Leicester was almost as bad as caged in sections of The Dell.
-
the way round was to wait until that corner pin was full and they would then open a section in their home end. The only time this didn't work was the week before Wembley 77 - seems like a lifetime ago.
Leicester was never my favourite away. From the crappy seats in their Witton Lane type stand to photos of Selwyn Froggett in their programme.
The 76 game I got a ticket handed to me the week before by Lionel from London Lions who refused payment (I was only 15 at the time) - went on the coach from Victoria Coach Station and remember waiting for the return coach in some unlit hovel in the centre of town afterwards. There were some Milwall on it returning back from Notts County - so had to keep quiet.
As for the game it was a one off - as was the next two aways Man City where we played well and lost and Bloose and the 3-2 defeat. Happy days.
-
He's my hero but I wasnt there. :( :(

Yes in that spooky lower end behind the goal. I also aided and abetted in some criminal activity that day but in a semi nice way.

Granny got married at the registrar office in town the morning of the match.
what an incongruous bunch we must of looked at the game, Flared trousers, Wide Lapel jackets and Kipper ties. I do not think Granny went.
When the 4th goal (equalizer) was scored, along with others I jumped on the pitch to hug Burridge, promptly ejected by Leicester's finest.
Back to Brum for granny's reception, bit of a blur after that.
Just checked my facts, we lost 3-2 at the sty a fortnight later, how did they get 46000 into that shit tip, I wonder how many of us were there, in those days you turned up and paid at the turnstile, I remember the Tilton and the corner of the Kop rocking.

And don't forget the Railway end again full of Villa at the Sty. Happy days
