Is that 4-4-2 with Adomah up front with Kodjia?

Odd, would rather we stick with 4-3-3.

At least no Richards or Elphick though.

A bench to rival Middlesboro! These are the things, these are the things, the things that dreams are made of.

[Homer has changed his to Max Power]
Max Power: Kids. From now on there are three ways of doing things: the right way, the wrong way, and the Max Power way.
Bart Simpson: Isn't that just the wrong way?
Max Power: Yes, but faster.
[Homer walks into a cactus]

Not sure whether that's 4-4-2 or 4-5-1, either way quite a defensive line-up, probably by force of circumstances as much as anything else. Good to see injuries coming back, albeit only to the bench, but bodes well for April. Still going for Villa win

I reckon that will see us line up

Johnstone

Hutton   Chester  Jedi   Taylor

Bree   Gardner  Hourihane   Amarvi

             Kodjia Adomah

Random thought - I wonder what Hutton would be like in central midfield,  where he could kick the opposition and not be forever thirty yards from where he should be.

Hutton   Chester  Jedi   Taylor

Bree   Gardner  Hourihane   Amarvi

             Kodjia Adomah

Isn't it more likely to be Bree at full-back, Jedinak in front of the defence, Hutton at centre-back and Amavi and Adomah either side of Kodjia?

I think his lack of positional awareness and his penchant for kicking blokes up into row Z would see a fair few bookings and reds.

I'd like SB to explain this totally shite team formation.

I think he'd say It's the same 442 that won the game v Wednesday and he had very little alternatives given injuries.

I'm not really following but any midfield with Hutton and Gardner in a four isn't going to pass the ball very well. Hopefully the subs are fit enough to get on

Wigan finished that half stronger and WM's Gary Thompson says we do not look comfortable playing 4-4-2. On the on the other hand, if the BBC stats are to be believed we have had 4 corners to their none, and both teams have had 1 shot on target.

a lot of comments on another thread about how we're going to walk this league next season, just like Gestede and McCormack would score goals for fun this season and we had the best squad in the league etc etc. The cold hard reality is that we have mediocre players with a dull, uninspiring, conversative manager. And buying half a new team in the summer again would just repeat the cycle.

They have upped the the tempo to a techno 150 bpm and are throwing some dandy disco shapes while we have dropped it down to a 70 bpm death sludge metal groove using a dropped tuning.

Don't worry, Brucie has some jazz funk moves in his locker and we we will be on them like a strong moss.

fuck me we are boring

Beat me to it. I never expected fireworks with Bruce but fuck me, this is dull, dull, dull.

I know the injuries haven't helped with team chemistry but there are sides in this league with far more invention with a fraction of our resources. How are they managing to create chances and score goals?

Mainly because our manager is too old school and lacks the nous for the modern game

Under Bruce we will grind our way to promotion next season. It's going to be tough to watch even if we get the desired end result. It's also why he can't be trusted in the PL and has come up short every time he has managed any club at that level.

I think we need to look at this like Southampton did and move to a more progressive manager once promoted. Doesn't have to be immediately, but certainly within 12 months of securing it.

The problem though is that if you are having to sack a manager at that time of year, you are usually heading for relegation as you are that bad.

He's managing a club who has given him tremendous resources and the football is every bit as turgid as most feared. I'm glad we are winning and I am glad we have him at this level. I don't want him for any great length of time in the PL.

Nah, it'll be because our title challenge is faltering and a delegation of senior players (Hazard, Lukaka, Neuer) will go to Tony to demand a change in direction.

Walk before we can run, and all that.

But if we did somehow scratch, grimace and grind our way to promotion in a similar manner to the past few months, I'd be looking to pot him by the end of May 2018.

Give a manager from this century the chance to build something worthwhile.

Might seem harsh, but there it is.  He'd get a big juicy pay-off (and be one of the few managers who's earned it) plus his reputation would be enhanced.
