Yeah I paid ten times face value for my standing ticket outside the ground, so a very expensive nil nil. Quite surprising really as that 77 team was the best I've ever seen.

terrible game though all I can remember was duncan mckenzies chip shot probably because I was well oiled.
I actually got tickets through my season ticket then some from stubs and then some because I was a shareholder. the replay at Hillsborough was better with awesome support from us taking over there kop then old Trafford
happy days

The delay to the second half because a bandsman lost one of his spurs on the pitch during the interval ?

Yes you're quite right PWS - 12th March 1977 - after three amazing games against QPR to get there and that unbelievably exciting team of that season - a 0-0 draw was probably the last result anyone would've expected.  Like others there I can barely remember anything about the game itself.

Still we did have all the excitement of the occasion beforehand and of course, it all came good a few weeks later at Old Trafford.

Happy days

If memory serves, John Gidman found it.

What I remember about that day apart from the shit football was, prior to kick-off there was a fight between two Villa fans standing behind us on the Wembley terrace which promptly came to a halt when one of them claimed to have lost one of his contact lenses.  The rest was surreal as about twenty-odd of us were down on our hands and knees helping him look for it and IIRC the other protagonist joined in and helped.

I got tickets by phoning around and eventually bought 2 tickets from Rochdale...Turned out they were in the Everton end but swapped them at Wembley with a couple of Everton fans who had tickets in our end.. After all that the game was highly forgettable

I was home on leave from the navy, my old man who if anything was a nose, but more Villa one week, Sty Andrews the next, went and stayed up all night to get me a ticket, think with tokens from the program, missed the first replay but was at Old Trafford for that great night.
QPR was that won at Highbury, or Coventry, old age.

Highbury -the night Brian Little truly walked on water (well thick mud anyway)

I met Chris Nicholl after going on a stadium tour a couple of years ago. He told me the players got a bonus for every cup final they played in back then. Because it went to 3 games Doug had to pay them 3 times. Of course he didn't like that so contracts changed after that and it became cup final wins instead of appearances.

After all the excitement of the QPR games, the occasion got to me.
In London the night before the game, drinking from early morning, so pissed I fell over and went to sleep on the terrace before half time.
Mates woke me up at the end, probably the best option.
Wide awake for the replays, Old Trafford, A night to remember.
