Three in a row?
Saturday 4.3.17
3pm KO
-
Nothing worse than a middle age fool - me thinking we will storm The Millers. I should know better but I am a Villain.
-
0-3 the mighty Villa.
Kodjia x 2 and Grealish to score.
And the Villa go marching On On On!!!
-
This could be the good old battering that we've been saying has been coming for a quite a while.
0-4 Villa
-
Tiny ground, they will be up for it (their cup tie given where they are), so wont be the walk over people will want. I see a tight cagey first 60, but the class will tell and we'll win 3-1
-
Villa win Easy, Easy! Seriously at work the Villa fans had this as a win before Derby and Bristol City games, so not changing now. Villa to win by two
-
We'll make very very hard work of it and struggle to a 2-1 win.
-
1-0 win
-
Got to be a Villa win. Surely. 2-4
-
Villa to win and hopefully we thrash them.
-
It'll get stopped by the ref for their own good at 0-12
-
Seven years and counting..
1-1.
-
Is Legion fucking up the order of the poll options going to be lucky or unlucky?
Oh hang on, it's Legion. Stupid question.
-
A word of caution: this won't be easy. Rotherham have beaten Norwich 2-1 at home and the only lost narrowly to Huddersfield 2-3. I also remember them pushing Leeds close and lost by the odd goal I think. Also, they pushed Brentford away last week, and although they lost 4-2, Brentford only scored the last two in stoppage time. So I can't see this being that easy as some suggest. Possibly a draw for me.
-
1-1
-
Scrappy 1-0 win
-
Floodgates open 0-5 Villa win as we start our surge to a last day playoff spot steal.
-
I really can't decide how I think this will go.
Either a 2-1 loss, similar to the Forest game.
or we'll finally click and we'll give them a good hiding, with everything falling into place nicely.
-
Smash them 2-5
-
On paper we should win this but with injuries and suspensions I think we'll make hard work of it for a draw.
-
Chuckle Brothers 0 Villa 3
-
If we're not stuffing this lot out of sight then there's something very, very wrong.
-
I'm slightly more upbeat - we should be beating Rotherham. We still haven't gelled yet though 1 -1.
-
I would just like to point out that we started winning when the pre-match thread was 'Our Heroes!'
Legion you will be held personally responsible if it goes pear shaped - but I know you are used to this!
-
It started off as That Lot...
-
If we're not stuffing this lot out of sight then there's something very, very wrong.
There is something very, very wrong - I don't think we need the result of this game to tell us that.
A couple of wins doesn't change things enough to suggest we can start to expect to stuff teams when it's something we've failed to do for several years.
-
It started off as That Lot...
Changed in the run up to Derby, kept for Bristol City - it's not too late! ;)
-
There you go!
-
Unusually optimistic!
Scrappy, nervy 1-0 win!
-
I'll be ecstatic if we just continue to improve. Give me a reason to remain hopeful, Villa. (Or win, I'm easy).
-
Well two home wins in a row, so now we are more than due an away success. 0-2 to the Villains. Green to get his first goal, and Albert to score the other.
-
There you go!
:)
-
I'm more optimistic than I have been in about two years. A scuffed one niller, with the goal in the third minute and then backs to the wall for the remaining 87 minutes.
-

Assume Green will be out injured, seemed to injure his hamstring at the end of the game on Tuesday.
-
With Gardner Green Hogan and Becuna out it will be interesting to see the line up and whose on the bench 1 : 1 for me

Hourihane for Gardner and Amavi for Green seem the obvious choices. Not that we do obvious these days.
But the last two wins haven't seen us exactly set up to attack from the off and no doubt this will be no different. The last two wins seem very much like his start here at Villa. Not great but got wins..before we started being not great and losing. We've beaten two teams in poor form at home...which we are all delighted about, but it kind of still papers over the cracks for me.
Maybe if we go to Huddersfield next week and take them apart I'll start being persuaded he might be the man to take us forward.
-
I reckon it's going to be a 1-1 draw I hope i'm wrong and we keep our run going.
-
Amazing how quickly confidence is restored. Cumon da Villa!!

Why would he?

Jack in for Green, his time to shine.

Any news on the Russian?
-
Second easiest game of the season.
4-0 Villa win.
-
And the scorers are Dion Dublin, Peter Withe, Andy Gray and Peter McParland!
-
What about Gerry Hitchens?
-
We win 4-1
-
same 11 please, hope Green is ok.
why cant we do 3 out of 3
Do you want to bet against us?

I think seeing Green on Tuesday, we need some pace in the wide areas. Bree came on for Adomah on Tuesday, so I wonder if he might start on the right and Adomah switch to the left.
-
Think it will be far from easy, we'll scrape the points 0-1, or 2-1.

Ground number 24 for me. Been looking forward to it for ages, which should mean it'll be dire.

And rip out their Camberwick Greens.
ps I'm sticking with my draw prediction - as it seems to be having a positive effect (finally). So 1-1.

We'll stick five up their Crackerjack and leave them with a Blue Peter Pencil.
Get down, Shep!

Brum Mail.
Boss Steve Bruce said today:
"Rushian has seen a specialist in London this week, we’re waiting on a report on that. He’s not fit for the foreseeable future.”
It means that Keinan Davis will be in the squad for tomorrow’s trip to Rotherham as Villa have a number of other injuries to their forwards.
Andre Green is out for a month. Gabby Agbonlahor is out for another two weeks but Scott Hogan could be back in a fortnight if his recovery goes to plan.
-
What about Gerry Hitchens?
Or Trevor Ford
-
It will be two new grounds in a matter of days for me.
-
2-0 comfortable win. If we can't beat these then we deserve to be relegated.
-

Really annoyed Huddersfield isn't on a weekend. One ground I really wanted to get to.
-
Injury update
The loss of Bacuna follows injuries suffered by winger Andre Green (hamstring), midfielder Gary Gardner (twisted ankle) and Scott Hogan (ankle ligaments).
"Andre will be at least a month and Gary will not make this weekend," added Bruce. "He twisted his ankle in the first 20 seconds of the game the other night (against Bristol City), but Scottie Hogan is a bit of a plus. He might be just a couple of weeks now, rather than the months which we first though."
-
2-0 comfortable win. If we can't beat these then we deserve to be relegated.
What on earth about our performances this season, or indeed the last 6 years, do you think gives us the right to have that attitude? Has it escaped you're attention that we are pretty shit ourselves?

Snigger. Keep your hair on.
Anyway, I reckon this lot are absolute shit and we should do them easily so I'm going for 0-0
-
Just going out to pick up the mini bus for tomorrow. We now have 10 travelling from Dorset with the Bournemouth Lions.
Hopefully three wins in a row!

He's hardly predicting a 10-0 drubbing, is he?
Rotherham are bottom of the table. We've already beaten them once, and scored three times whilst doing it.
There's no guarantees of getting anything but predicting we'll win 2-0 doesn't strike me as particularly out-there.
-

Ha ha ha, that made me exhale coffee through my nose.

It's a pretty arrogant way of expressing the prediction don't you think? And if you don't I'm pretty sure lots of people would.
Their last 4 home games - they scored 2 against Huddersfield (narrow defeat), drew with Blackburn, lost to Barnsley (by a smaller margin than us) and beat Norwich.
Guess how that compares to our last 6 away games?
Yes they are bottom, but bearing in mind how poor we can be we've no right to be arrogant.
-
.
-
In the same way that everyone at this stage of the season last year expected to beat us, everyone will be expecting to beat Rotherham. It's nothing to do with arrogance, just common sense about playing the side that is comfortably the worst in the division. To me it's no different to pretty much all of us expecting to lose at Newcastle.
-
It's very different. Newcastle hadn't lost their previous 6 home games.
-
Any news on the Russian?
Richard Whiteley is on the case!
-
.
That's easy for you to say.
-
Side A is comfortably better than side B. Nearly everyone expects side A to win and to win fairly comfortably. It's hardly arrogance.

Last 10 games
Rotherham p10 W1 D1 L8
Villa p10 W2 D1 L7
Villa have lost their last 8 away league games, our last away win being Reading in October.
I'm hopeful that we will win. But this is nowhere near as cut and dried and you seem to think.

We've lost our last 8 away games ? I think not.

Our away record is crap, but we've beaten QPR away since we beat Reading.

yes good point. 18th Dec. Still, doesn't make us nailed on for this though.

According to the Brum Mail Brucey is bringing back Richards tomorrow and sees his place at centre back. I know I'm about to get slated for this but if Brucey can get a tune out of Richards I say why not? We're paying his wages and crying out for a leader at the back. Bruce praised his attitude since he arrived. Let bygones be bygones I say it's worth a shot.....Fire away

Disagree hat he is a leader going by the treatment of team mates in the past.

He be on the bench he be, making sure the other subs don't start trying to see who can can flob furthest with their chewing baccy.

Micah Richards at the heart of our defense, oh my days why??

Please...no!
-
Unless he's going 3 at the back why would be bring in Richards in place of Chester or Baker? And why would he go 3 at the back against the worst side in the division? I can see him being on the bench but not starting.
-
If Bruce can't control Hutton's walk abouts despite him playing week in, week out, he's got no chance with that fool Richards.
One thing is having a joker in the dressing room, it's quite another having one on the pitch.

Because , even if you remove the attitude problem, he is a not a good football player.

Richards has 13 England caps....so is clearly a good player. Injuries have robbed him the last couple of years. Maybe a renaissance under Bruce??

He's a busted flush. Both he and Gabby should have been paid to fuck off last summer. But hey, why wait, they could be just fucked off now! However, every fucking manager that comes to this factory of sadness reckons they are the one that will get a tune out of these fucking wastrels.
-
The only role Richards should have at the Villa is grazing the pitch.
If Bruce picks him then I hope he gets his P45 at half time.

Sadly I have seen zero evidence of his ability during his time with us. Can anyone here honestly say they have? He has just been awful. Bruce just needs to look at the tapes of him playing for us.

He got those 13 England caps around the time he was the next big thing at Citeh.
He had the physical attributes, so the feeling was that the other things - positioning, reading the game and general awareness- might come in time.
They never did. Hutton and Cissoko were highly rated in their early 20s too. We know how they turned out.
Leading lights such as Andy Hinchcliffe, Geoff Thomas, Zat Knight, Gabby and Nicky Shorey have all gained international recognition somehow. Playing for In ger Lund isn't all it's cracked up to be either.
-
Don't fergit Warnock and Heskey.
All decent players in their time, to all but the jaundiced eye.
Have to share you misgivings about Micah, though.
-
Starting with last 11 picked plus bench , taking out injuries and suspensions , I think it will be very likely that we play 3 at the back with Hutton and TAYLOR wing backs. Just not enough midfield / singer / striker options at moment ..... I'd take a few more scrappy wins however we get them
-
Had dream last night it was 0-3 by half time. 0-5 full time. I will accept any bets or donations!
-
5 at the back against Rotherham?
-
Bruce will not change the formation again. Richards will be on the bench at best. Hourihane in for Bacuna, that's it. No banana skin please Villa.
-
Hourihane
Jedinak
Lansbury
Adomah
Grealish
Kodjia
That's what I expect.
-
I reckon we'll win. It might not be the pasting people think we're going to give them so i'll go with 2-0.
-
5-1 Villa. Kodjia with four.

-
The thought of Hutton and Richards in the same defence again doesn't bear thinking about. I'd be surprised if he changed it.

Bare bones is when you are playing reserves and have untried youngsters on the bench. We are not but if Bruce thinks so, why the f*** has he let players go out on loan.
-
Or let most of our strike force leave.
-
The rising spectre of Micah Richards in Villa's defence. Lord, I cannot wait for this era to be over with.
-
It's hardly Bruce's fault that Hogan Green and Gardner got injured recently or Bacuna got sent off. We do have a big squad so he was right to loan out the likes of Tshibola. Just having a bad run with players unavailable.
-
Richard,
It's the Villa way, we always have injury problems!!

You might have paid that once at Wembley, back in the early 1970s
