0-1
Bent 89
Positive and cheerful, aren't I?
-
I'd be happy with a draw. Not sure if that will actually happen though.
-
2-1 Villa. Don't know who, how or when but I just have a strong feeling we'll win
-
God knows why but I think we'll win this 3-1
*Nurse!*

*Nurse!*
Medicine administered!
-
Someone's going to get a right hammering from us soon so will go for a cautious 1-1 draw ( Not sure though where our goal is going to come from)!!
-
Not a prayer.
0-3
-
0-1
Bent 89
Positive and cheerful, aren't I?
Dont be ridiculous
Bent 90 + 17
Gollocks
-
If Johnstone and Elphick are anywhere near the starting XI then I'll 0-2 with Bent obviously scoring one (or both) of the goals
No idea what our best formation or team is but neither does the manager so I'll pass on guessing our line up this weekend!
-
2-1 to us. Kodjia and Lansbury
-
0-0.
And the most tedious 0-0 in world history at that.
-
0-1
The Bolton game all over again
-
Do Villa have any uninjured strikers other than Davis?
-
Can we edit the title? We're not "that lot".
Good chance to get back on track here. I am surprised at seeing their run of form. Only 2 wins in 9, which while better than us, suggests their season has now died a death. Poor result last night at home as well.
-
0-1
The Bolton game all over again
The TSM1 "farewell" game?
-
Fuck me, I thought this season would be different, but here we are. My first thought on seeing this thread was "shit, another game?".
Anyway, hope springs eternal, a win for us.
-
It was against a Derby team that SGT hit on the winning formula after an average start to the season in 89/90
Bruce is no SGT so I fear this could be his "Bolton" moment
If the crowd start the "You don't know what you are doing" chant it could be bye bye
-
0-3 Darren Bent hat trick.
-
Be interesting to see what we adopt given Hogan's absence.
Wouldn't mind seeing Jedinak screening, with Hourihane and Lansbury offering something genuine going forwards for once and Green and Adomah wide of Kodjia.
I hope Bree is back.
-
Can we edit the title? We're not "that lot.
Can I second this please? I am sure the team across the city are 'that lot' - I'd honestly prefer it if we could just go back to naming our team as beautifully as they are supposed to be named, but if people feel we have to head up threads in this manner, can we at least be 'this lot'.
-
How about 'a fat lot..' ?
-
0-2 the misery continues..
-
Better?
-
I reckon this will be a 1-1 draw.
-
The result depends on how many goals we gift derby. If we give them 2 or more then we have no chance.
-
Better?
Could the eye-roll emoticon be inserted after the word heroes ?
-
I have no clue. Whatever the line up, formation, system etc etc, I'm lost as to why we look so inept. So fully expect to get beaten again and praying that something, anything clicks and we find a way to put it all together for 90 minutes. I honestly have no idea what that even feels like.
-
Derby's revival has hit the breaks as of late and they could only draw with Burton at home so with that in mind I predict ..an easy 3 nil win for them
-
Can't call this one. Torn between starting well, missing a few chances, giving a soft goal away before half-time and collapsing to lose 3-0, or starting badly, giving a soft goal away after 5 minutes and getting outplayed to lose 3-0.
-
1-1
-
0-0 in a game of mind numbing shittyness and with 3 minutes to go. The Holte End singing "we'll win again don't know where don't know when but I know we'll win again some sunny day" Up will pop Hourihane with a worldy free kick and we will win 1 fucking nil. I just know it.
-
didn't Cantscorino make his debut against Derby? was that the day we were taking the mick out of Shilton for his dalliance with a woman called Tina?
-
I am still trying to make up my mind as to whether I can be arsed to attend.
-
I'm going 1-1
-
I'm going
2-1 Derby
-
All that money we've spent trying to sign a goalscorer and our £18million forward is bound to score against us.
-
I had a look at a Derby forum and the comments made me smile. There's more that unites football fans than divides us, a shared terminal pessimism;
Villa have splashed the cash on footballs version of the Harlem globetrotters. Sooner or later they will gel and give somebody a tonking.
When a team is on a terrible run it is often Derby that sorts it out for them. Villa 3 - Derby 0.
Villa going through a tough time so throw in the sacrificial Lamb.
Villa win 2 or 3 nil sorry to say
Villa 2 Derby 0.
Genuinely can't see where our next win will come from.
Most seem to think we will win 2-0.
-
About time we battered someone. 4-1
-
Better?
lolz
-

Certainly not in the home game. Platt scored iirc. Not sure Shilton was still playing then or that we signed cascarino until the latter part of the season
-
0-1 We're reducing our deficit. We haven't gelled yet.
-

It was Cascarinos debut. The save Shilton made from his header is high up that seasons What If list.
-
Ormondroyd scored in that game.

I work with a few Derby fans and they're even more doom and gloom than we are. They all thinking pretty much the same, easy Villa win.
-
I thought the one where we were giving Shilton major grief about Tina was the 2-1 away defeat the previous season.
-
First time I've been able to go for a while , just wanna be cheered up 😳
-
1-3.
Derby haven't been great recently but think they'll hurt us on the break with the pace of Ince. They still have a pretty good squad for this level.
-
Second half injury time, Bent shoots and it's heading for the corner flag until Elphick slips over and deflects it between Johnstone's legs for the Derby win.
-
Do you think we can be heroes, just for one day?
-
Yup...but 3 points won't be enough.
Couldn't we make that Heroes for a lifetime ?
By g*d we need some of those on the park right now.
-
We are adding pressure to a group of players who don't need it right now. We have a decent set of players and manager. Give them a bit of breathing space and they'll turn it around. Keep micro analysing like we do and we will shoot ourselves in the foot with that never ending spiral of self destruction. 1-0 Villa.
-
We haven't had a 0-0 since September so I'll go for that.
-
The scary thing is McClaren is probably less technically inept than Mr. Potato Head. 1-3
-
Hard team to pick, a novel concept but we should try and outscore Derby
-------------------Johnstone
Bacuna, Chester, Baker, Taylor
Adamoah, Jedinak, Hourihane, Green
--------------------Grealish
--------------------Kodjia
Hutton didn't do much wrong at Newcastle but we need a bit more going forward.
-
Its there pace on the counter attack that is going to hurt us. Just please give us something to smile about.
-
Staying positive about this one. Burton did ok there so we can do one better.
-

They need breathing space for sure, but do you seriously think a scattering of interwebsters with long standing grudges against each others' positions "micro analysing" the the games has any effect whatsoever on what happens on the pitch? Or for that matter upon the crowd's general demeanour?
I think not.
-
See no evidence to support false optimism.
Routine victory for Derby following comedy defending, inexplicable substitutions, non existent midfield, crowd unrest.......etc
-
I am not sure why, but I have a feeling we will win. 2-0.
-
Clutching at Straws the law of averages etc 2 : 1. Chester with the Winner
-
At dome point, on some day the luck must be on our side - it has to happen eventually.
So we'll be lucky on Saturday and draw 1-1
And beat Bristol City.
-
That's how we tend to do it. Gritty draw followed by a win, we rarely seem to bang out a shock 2-0 comfortable one to jump back into form, where (and this is likely a misconception) other sides appear to do.
Beat Derby and we will be celebrating 3 on the bounce for the first time since O'Neill come the following weekend.
-
We are shit, we play, we lose.

We're up to page 52 on the Bruce out thread. You think the owner and staff are oblivious to the atmosphere that starts to generate when things don't immediately turn around?
-
What is said on here in isolation is irrelevant.
See our current form and the attention this is getting.
-
Repeat of this would be nice. What a night!

What atmosphere is that?
At Newcastle on Monday there was the usual;
Steve Bruce
Claret and Blue Army!
There's the usual grumbling about players being on a subs, but nothing you wouldn't have heard at the height of MON's popularity.

We'll destroy this shower
is what i'd be posting on a Derby site if I were a Derby fan
1-4

The Derby fans all seem to think we'll beat them on their website at least.
-
I was there for 3-4 game in the cup, seems like yesterday (unfortunately does not feel like it)
I am going for 1-1 draw, as both teams are not playing well

We do seem to have a knack of ending teams bad runs. If anyone is in a rut they must love seeing a fixture against us come up.
-
hoping for the best, expecting more shite and things getting a little TSM2-esque
-
A 0-0 borefest.

Ahem
I was wrong about Shilton but Platt scored and Cascarino was not bought until 2nd part of season

Not just the web site, I live in Derby and work with Derby lads. They are think that Derby are going to get tonked. lol

I was at this game - my god it seems so long ago now
Points of interest
Their 2nd goal - not often you saw God done like a kipper - especially by some no neck no mark like McMinn
Parkers goal was very Tony Morelyesque
Williams goal was very Kodjia / Daleyesque
Shilton - although saved 2 pens in the game he was very flappy on crosses
Never realised that Ormandroyd played for them
-
Cascarino made his debut away at Derby in 1990, a 1-0 win with a goal from Ormo and Shilton did make an incredible save from a Cascarino header. I was there and it was a crazy away day.
-
You know what happens though when other teams can't by a win - then they have a match v Aston Villa ... we all know the rest!!!
-
0-2 Bent x2 :(

Few things I remember about that day. It was 'scorchio' weather. I discovered real ale in the pub just down from Derby train station and my mate got that drunk he travelled the whole of the number 9 bus route there and back twice before the driver threw him off back in Brum. Happy days.

Unseasonably warm evening.
-
We’ve played Derby at home 59 times and accumulated 99 points from those games.
I fancy a draw in order to make a ton.
The full list of teams we’ve acquired 100+ home points from:
136 Everton
128 Sunderland
117 Blackburn Rovers
108 West Bromwich Albion
106 Sheffield Wednesday
105 Bolton Wanderers
104 Arsenal
104 Liverpool
104 Newcastle United
102 Manchester City
-
If Johnstone plays we lose.
Bent will score.
Thor needs benching as he all flowing locks and no hammer.
Elphick to be kidnapped and driven as far from VP as possible.
Not predicting result or score as I am really not as interested as I should be.
-
I haven't got a clue!
-
Gone for a 0-0 bore draw as Bruce will play it safe at VP he might even roll out the 352 for another trial run. I will be worried when it gets to about 89 mins though if it's still scoreless.
-
I don't think in the history of the game that there has ever been a more nailed on 0-0 than this...
So 4-3 Villa.

I agree with all of that except the last line and I'm going for 1-1, Bunn in for Johnstone.
-
Bruce confirmed Kodja is recoverd for Saturday following a knock to his ribs
-
That gives me hope.
-
0 - 3 Bent 1, 45+1, 89
Dammit
-
Johnstone
McCafu
Chester
Beckenbaker
Taylor (but I'm not convinced he's any better than Amavi)
Jedi
Hourihane
Angela
Andrethenotgiant
Kod
Albert
The only way that I'd be OK with seeing three at the back is if Bree is fit to play right wing-back and McCafu moves into a three with Chester and Beckenbaker
If Mad Tom is in the starting lineup, I will be a tad peeved

I was in the "family section" of the Baseball Ground that night. The skinhead family, as it turned out. Still not sure how we escaped in one piece.
-
I'd go with Redsox line up with I suppose a very unexciting bench of Bunn, Elphick (or Richards), Amavi, Bacuna, Gardner, BB and Davis.
Squad down to its bare bones with players injured or sent on loan (12 I think in total).
-
Two teams who are on terrible runs ,looks a nailed on draw to me 1-1
-
Derby on a terrible run, coming to play the benevolent Villa. Hope I'm wrong but any time a team is on a crap run, or a striker hasn't scored for several games, it usually ends when they play us. Let this be the time it stops.
-
Is there a minute's applause to be held at all stadiums at the weekend for Ranieri?
-
Two poor teams, both managers under the spotlight - it really depends who wants it most.
4-0 Villa

I used to work on a building site with a most uncouth Jackeen wit a neck the size of my waist who would scream out, apropos of nothing at all:
Get up the crack
Get up the Ghee
-
I am tired of expecting (and usually getting) the worst from our club. So what the hell? We win and win well all the recent tactical changes by Bruce come together and the new players suddenly click showing the class we paid for.
3-0 home win with the midfield scoring them all.
-

I agree with you ciggiesnbeernnonprescriptionhallucengenicpharmacutical
-
Please just win. Whatever it takes.
-
We're definitely going to win by one goal. I set up an accumulator and didn't actually bet, which guarantees we will win.
England by 42 points as well.
-
I can't go which makes is nailed on a Villa win. The handful of games I have missed over the last couple of years have been predominantly our wins. Additionally the games I make the most efforts to get to are invariably the worst performances. Home win by two clear goals. Samba (14). Bent o.g. (92).
-
Draw, it's going to be a draw
-
A 1-1 draw today which at least stops the rot, then hoping for Wigan and Forest to do the same and we remain 6 points clear, the win to come at home to Bristol City.
-
if I go we will lose if I dont go to the game we will win if I dont leave the pub to go we will draw

Bruce really needs to get it right today.
-
It'll be interesting to see how he plays it if we only have Kodjia available. I've a sneaky feeling he'll put Bacuna back in somewhere. Not sure why, just a feeling.
-
Villa 0 Derby Co 2
Bruce gets sacked but gets a part in Toy Story 5
Villa appoint Pardew
-
Lest we forget...
-
Bruce really needs to get it right today.
I hope so, as Juan Pablo's version of events (see above) is horrifying.
-
Looks like Derby have brought a firm as I doubt it was Bournemouth. Sod knows where they were being taken as police were with them heading down Queensway towards Hurst St.
-
We need to at least draw. No matter what we need to keep Bruce and allow some stability within manager ship. Give him time to follow his plans through and the team to gel. We are staying where we are this season and were never going straight back up
-
Just checked to see if it is on TV at a sports bar in Perpignan. Thankfully, it isn't.
