SB is either telling the players we need to push up and close down quickly or, he's getting his post match interview sorted which will begin with "The performance is not acceptable for a club of this status etc.etc.
Going for a 1-1 nailed on draw

I'm tempted to stick a fiver or a tenner on this that we'll lose. I assume the "Double Chance - Forest or Draw" option (currently at 4/7 with Ladbrokes) would see to this, and would at least remove some of the pain of losing.

On the Telly again! It's like torture isn't it. I may have the night off ask the kids to water board me instead.

Reality is I will look forward to it, watch it and swear at the TV many times. Shake my head and go to bed trying to convince myself things can only get better.

My kids poked their heads round the door last night took one look at the score and said goodnight and retreated to their bedrooms. I really try not to let it bother me but it does. What makes is worse is the glee in the voice of the commentators when we're losing - can't they get Jack Woodward in for the Villa games?

Judging by the way he took that blow to the head last night and carried on can't see him being scared of playing at SJP.

They're a poor side Forest and they concede by the bucket load.

Get the balance right and capitalise on that early impetus we've shown in a few games of late and hopefully it will be our confidence that grows.

Player for player we're miles better, but Bruce needs to find the balance.

I have to agree with other contributors that it looked like Lansbury was deliberately throwing caution to the wind last night as if to miss the Forest game, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if he either didn't play, or plays and get's sent off.

Back to basics or gamble. Well we're stuck in this division for another season as unpalatable as that sounds so might as well shake it up. 4-4-2:

Johnson

Bree Chester Baker Taylor

Adomah Houihane Bjarson Amavi

          Kodija  Hogan

I think I'd only play one of the new midfielders for this one, none of them made a convincing case for inclusion last night. And maybe think about Bacuna at right back as well if Jedinak if fit enough to start as the defensive midfielder.

We've got to stumble on onto a system that works soon. Haven't we?

I'll be watching this in Berlin. Any recommendations where to watch it?

Got to go for Hogan and Kodjia up top, get the ball into them and work from there. Oh, and stop leaving acres in the middle of the park for opposition midfielders to waltz round in.

Johnstone

Hutton
Chester
Baker
Taylor

Green
Hourihane
Lansbury
Bacuna

Hogan
Kodja

Bunn
Elphick
Amavi
Gardner
Adomah
Bree
Grealish

Even with that 4 4 2 7 formation I wouldn't fancy our chances. Can't see anything other than a home win.

If we come under the same pressure against Forest, do what other teams do - get a player to go down and receive medical treatment.
Negative and unsporting but if it's good for everyone else...

I think we'll beat them easily but I'm not willing to fall on my sword for it.

I was really looking forward to the Brentford game.  Probably needed more time to gel the new players in.  Had a few more days now, but no doubts Forest will be all riled up about us stealing their Captain.  I can't do predictions any more either, so sure was I that we'd win at Brentford, and at Wolves, and at Cardiff, and at Norwich and so on and so on...........

More effort, more closing down, more hard work generally and we will win more than we'll lose.  Without these ingredients, we are truly awful.  An early goal, for Villa would be nice!

Bruce confirming we are going to do something different

Bree.                          Taylor
  Lansbury, Gardner, Hourihane
             Hogan Kodjia

Johnston
Chester Elphick Baker
Bree                                          Amavi
Lansbury Hourihane
Grealish
Kodjia Hogan

Sorry for the slow reply, Ads. I've gone from expecting Villa to win, to hoping Villa might somehow win, the "be happy with a draw" phase, to accepting we probably won't win right now. I've learnt a little humility, if nothing else!

Surely we're due a decent display ... even if it's on Sky !

Hogan for a debut goal, Lansbury to dominate the creative side of things, Hourihane to get his left foot in action -- looking good, looking good.

Just need Jonnie Kodjia to get his chances on target, and I'm going for a 2-1 Villa win ... 89 min we'll be 2-0 up, and the final 5 mins will be as per.

If you're relying on Gardner to screen and move the ball on, then that's not an issue. If you're relying on Gardner to be an attacking fulcrum then you've got issues.

There's nobody in the squad that can sit in that space in front of the back four with Jedinak out, other than Gardner.

Base of the diamond for me.

On the basis that Jedi isn't fit, then I'd go...

                 Johnstone
Bree     Chester     Baker    Taylor
                   Gardner
       Angela                   Horaay
                   Grealish
              Kodija     Hogan

For me, Amavi loses his place to Taylor due to poor form, and it's time for McCafu to sit it out for Bree. Unfortunately Thor needs time to get up to speed so should be given a few weeks to settle in before being considered again. We could have a lack of width but Adomah needs to work on his end product as he's just a waste of space at the moment...if its not working then push Grealish out left or bring Green on.

shows how much we've missed jedinak.

i've been surprised by the amount of stick he's been getting on here lately. he was really poor at the start but i thought he improved a lot up to xmas.

with him on the pitch i don't think hugill's goal that got pne back in the game happens and we'd have looked more solid the other night.

seems like with reo-coker a few years back people criticise him for misplaced passes when that's not his primary role. we've looked good at defending set pieces since he came in as he's another tall player and he can also sit nicely infront of the back 4 when we're winning and see games out.

i think he has to start every single away games he's fit for the rest of the season to provide more balance. he can anchor the back 4 and hourihane and lansbury infront of him can do the passing and goalscoring stuff.

at home yeah on the bench and then bring him on after an hour when we're 2-0 like the pne game.

i'm not really convinced by gardner at dm....injuries have restricted his mobilty but he still wants to get forward and shoot so worried he wouldn't hold his position.

don't expect much tomorrow...forest aren't great but they have i think won their last 2 or 3 at home and haven't conceded so stopped the rot.

1-1.

Bree elphick Chester Taylor

Lansbury Gardner hourihane

Grealish

I'd be absolutely delighted if we could somehow keep a clean sheet today, but frankly that's jus' cray-zeee talk. A draw would suit me beautifully after the Brentford fiasco, although I won't be in the least bit surprised if our pathetic away run continues.

Did anybody else go to the game at Villa Park in the 1977-78 season? It was the year Forest won the Div 1 title after coming up the previous term. We lost 0-1(!), but Shilton produced the most astonishing goalkeeping performance I reckon I've ever witnessed.

Didn't even realise it was on the box. Going to be able to watch first 30 minutes and will have to watch the rest in the morning when I finish work. A night of no social media, how will I survive. My last trip there ended 2-2, think we were 2 down and missed a chance to win it very late on. Always enjoyed my sports trips to Nottingham whether footy, cricket or the horses.

I was at that game. I think it was Dublin who missed that chance at the end.

Me too! It was a week after our unbeaten run had come to an end against Liverpool at Villa Park. Collymore lost his temper, but it was a cracking game.

I think we should be starting matches at 2.45.......don't think we've been beaten when we do?

1-1

I can remember us playing Forest when they were in the middle of an injury crisis and Roy Keane and Nigel Clough were their two centre backs, neither having played there before.

Of course we lost, 2-0 I think.
