Be a miracle if we sell this out. If we have to play here on a work night, can't they at least make it Friday so you only need to book one day off to attend?

£17 is good value....apart from the fact that's its Newcastle on a weeknight and you have to watch Villa play

You're allowed up to 3200 tickets. I don't think we'll sell that initial 2200 despite the price. Away form, season is over, distance, Monday night and on Sky all contributing factors.

How much do we earn per sky appearance? Seem to have been on nearly every other week

From Blues away to Newcastle away, ten out of eleven away games, have been on live. Only Cardiff wasn't on live.

Hopefully sky will start to lose interest when they see we are destined for a mid table finish.

Is that including the away scheme though which get added automatically? Seem to recall Norwich was at about 800 after a couple of days and as we know that one really struggled to sell.

I'd expect so, but then that is pretty much who would have 13 plus aways anyway. 600 in the scheme and 250 odd outside it is probably just about all that can buy them so far.

Either way it shouldn't be an issue outsinging the world's best fans. 500 QPR fans were all you could hear last night in an otherwise silent stadium.

It's very well priced. Be interesting to see how it sells. A win Saturday may convince a few.

our record is terrible up there...was it that infamous dyer/bowyer game when we last won?

Yep, 3-0 and Taylor got shot by a sniper too.

Pretty sure we've only won there twice since Sky invented the game and both times they had someone sent off.

1-0 with Shearer sent off and 3-0 with Steven Taylor sent off for Oscar-winning handball on the line and Dyer and Bowyer dismissed for recreating Raging Bull.

so strange when our record at sunderland and boro is so good.

we've even won at old trafford since our last win up there!

I didn't go to Newcastle when we got stuffed 3 - 0 in 1975. I got married that day.
That went tits up as well.

Title: Re: Newcastle (A)
Post by: QuintonVilla on February 08, 2017, 10:24:33 AM
1280 sold. Only sold 180 in a few days. That Forest game would have put a lot of people off, that was the final straw and effectively ended our season.

On sale to all season ticket holders from 5pm today so doesn't look like we'll sell out the initial 2200 imo.
Title: Re: Newcastle (A)
Post by: Clampy on February 08, 2017, 01:50:57 PM
I think it's a good turnout personally. As for the Forest game putting people off, I think the fact that it's a  Monday night game on telly would have done that if anything.

Yeah, I think the Rotherham match will be a better indicator of any drop in interest.

Birmingham Mail giving publicity to Newcastle blogs that have written a piece slating our 'embarrassing support' for the uptake of tickets for this game. Those Newcastle fans are more obsessed with us than the Albion aren't they? Still salty over us relegating them twice.

I think we'll sell out every game now after the Newcastle one. That was never going to sell out on a Monday night.

The comments under those articles are about 90% telling the writers to get over it. Most of their supporters are the same as ours - couldn't care less and faintly embarrassed by such a manufactured rivalry.

On sale to Villa Cash from tomorrow - so I'll be taking another 3 off their hands. Never seen us lose up there if that sways anyone not quite sure whether to buy a ticket.

I've also seen those articles from "The Mag" it has become truly pathetic that 8 years after a joke flag in the Holte End, there are still people crying about it.

Noticed that Newcastle's game at Norwich on a Tuesday night in on general sale. Surely this can't be right as they are the best fans in the world!

Conveniently forgetting the years when Newcastle could fit the team and fans on the same coach and still have space left.

Typical Newcastle bull rubbish.

Sound more like typical Evening Mail attempts to shit-stir. Ignore them and they'll cease to function.

Tweet the Newcastle Fanzine "THE MAG" they seem to have a buzzer that goes off everytime we sell a ticket so they can let everyone know how embarassing our support is.

As was mentioned in the pub last night, when taking the piss out of us taking less than 2K on a Monday when we're shit in division 2 and it's live on TV, they should remember how many they brought to VP on a Friday when they were shit in division 1 in 1978.
Title: Re: Newcastle (A)

It's also easy to comment when they're top of the league. If they were in our position and we were in theirs I'd say they'd bring 1500-2000 to us. Don't forget they had some crap followings in the Premier League for some Monday night games aswell; 900 at Everton being the best example.
