Wolves v Villa
Sky Bet Championship
Saturday January 14
Kick-off: 5.30pm
Molineux
Allocation: 4,200
SOLD OUT
-
I predict it will be freezing cold.
-
Tshibola to start for me with Jedinak in midfield. Back five picks itself.
I'd go with Adomah and Grealish wide with Gabby and McCormack up top, so a 4411.
Wolves are mince, but we cannot sacrifice the midfield with the likes of Gardner or Westwood.
-
Wolves 1 - Aston Villa 3
McCormack hattrick as he kicks into form.
-
Season defining game. Realistically we have to win this if we're going to keep in touch with the play offs. I think we will. 0-1. Agbonlahor will pretend it's 2009 and head home a late winner. Melee in the away end ensues.
-
We can't win away.
-
Can I be the first to say I'd enjoy it if we stick it up Lambert?
Anyway, I agree it's a game that could influence the rest of the season. Looking forward to it but aprehensive at the same time.
-
Can't see us scoring, so at best it'll be 0-0. I think we'll lose again though.
-
2-0 Wolves.
-
Not feeling confident about this one at all. 2-0 Wolves and a miserable Monday morning in the office for me!
-
Routine away defeat.
-
McCormack to deliver finally, here's hoping. Can't see us scoring from open play otherwise.
-
just play all the kids upfront , fuck it fuck them fuck me ::)
-
Nailed on 1-1.
We score early(ish). Chester header from a corner.
They equalise soon after.
The game fizzles out.
We need to win though. Really need to win.

Two nil Villa. Baker and Tish

Wouldn't it be better we all just get behind the team for a change instead of the pathetic chants our lot usually come out with.

No. A bit of both would be nice. But each to their own.
-
Be a good gauge to see how we have changed since Brucie's 1st game in charge of us v the dingles on the back of the RDM debacle.

Feel free to get a song going on Saturday. We'll join in if its a good one.
-
Snow? Orange ball?
Our away form and lack of goals now with added Jonny Todger missing means an unsatisfactory defeat looms.
Wolverhampton Wanderers 1 Aston Villa 0
-
We can't win away.
...and Wolves can't win at home. A dreadful 0-0 or us to scrape it 1-0 with a scrappy, deflected goal off Gabby's backside.
-
Can't believe we have more people voting that we will win than lose. I really do hope I'm wrong as we seriously need the 3 points here but:-
a) We are away so hardly ever win
b) We are on TV so hardly ever win
c) If our forward line consists just of Gabby, we are not going to score. I think Wolves will be a tougher proposition than the Spurs lite team
Hope I'm proved wrong but just pointing my honest point of view.
-
Can't see us winning, can't score, can't win away from home, can't win on TV, just being realistic!
-
0-0 written all over this.
-
Blimey!! Just realised that I sound like Westwood with all my pointing!!
-
1-1 For me.
-
Can't see us getting anything, with our current forward line we would struggle to score against an under 10's side.
-
Bruce won't want to lose; Lambert won't want to lose either - 0-0
-
On the bright side, am I right in thinking we haven't lost there since 1978 ? (wow 39 years ago, remember it like it was yesterday - I stood on the side by where the players came out.
We have to hit form some time and if McCormack plays, with JK away, what better time for him to get his season going. 2-1 Villa
-
I was going to say, I can't believe people think we're going to lose at that shower.
We have the best striker in this league from the past few seasons. Lets not play him up front on his own and give it a bash against one of the biggest fuckwits in football.

I wish people did only join in with the good ones, then "Shit support m'lord", "Empty seats m'lord", "Is this a Library" and other classics from Class 4b's day out would have died a death long ago. They must be the most cringeworthy chants in football.
I'll join in with anything that supports the team and laugh at anything uniquely funny - but I too am no lyricist, I have to admit.
I can hum a tune though if anyone wants to add the words as we go along.

Maybe you could hand out a play list on the turnstiles so people know what they can and cant sing.
-
Anyone think we could look at 3 at the back moving Jedinak into the back 3 , have Adomah and Amavi wing backs play 3 in midfield of Tishola Grealish and new signing (Please ) or Bacuna
then play a central 2 of McCormack and one of our young strikers ??
no me neither
-
Pretty certain we won't be scoring any goals on Saturday - and for that matter, the entire month of January.
Can we keep them out for 90 minutes? Probably not - 1-0 to them.
-
Looks like we're playing Wolves at the wrong time, clean sheets in their last 2 fixtures, against Wednesday and Stoke, the win in the Cup was against an almost full strength Stoke side. The return of Mike Williamson, after about 12 months out, is a massive plus for their defence.
Hope I'm wrong, but can't see us scoring, 1 - 0 to them.
-
Wolves 1 Villa 2 or 3.
It's not all doom and gloom for Wolves though...I predict they will go again
-
Our midfield is Blues, and who's going to score for us?
2-0 to them.
-
Them 1-5 Us, Lambert will say they were excellent.
-
They seem to be in a bit of form, we dont create much, as sad as it sounds, id take a nil nil now.
-
Hope they're not playing as well as they did in the second half of the game at VP. They'll beat us if so. We rarely played like that under Lambert so I think it'll be a narrow loss or a return of the shitty draws.
-
0-2 to us.
-
1-2 Us.
Touch of brilliance from Jack in the final mins to nick it.
UTV
-
Think we will lose this, utter shit up front and nothing coming in for the midfield as of yet. Same problems, same kind of game.
-

January 2018?
-
The only word of warning to sound is that Mr Mumbles had a good record against his old club when he was with us.
-
I really hope we win this. Can't stand Paul Lambert.
Undoubtably we are desperately short up front, so will probably be a draw.
-
This will be a game that will live long in the memory as we FTF.
-
I am sure Wolves will be excellent and you couldnt ask any more of them. if they lose I am sure Paul will remind everyone of the extremely difficult circumstances he is working under and he really cant talk more about it.
-
0-1 Villa.
-
Will the tram be running after the game? Planning on drinking up the Jewelery Quarter and hopping on from there.
-
Lambert got a surprisingly good result in his last game. 4-1 to us and the next five teams they play.
-
Not confident..draw is the best we can hope for.
-
It really isn't.
-
Will the tram be running after the game? Planning on drinking up the Jewelery Quarter and hopping on from there.
Trams run every 15 minutes from about 19:00pm and about every 6 or 7 minutes before then
-
My Wolves mates at work are predicting a Villa win so I will join them, Wanderers 0 us 2.
-
Them 2 Us 6
-
Cheers for the response.
-
Villa win. Score and scorers is anybody's guess.
-
I'd be happy with a draw there, given our squad shortages at the minute, as underwhelming as it sounds. I think we'll get one too.
-
Villa win. Score and scorers is anybody's guess.
So is the result to be fair.
-
0-3.
Gabby hat trick.
-
0-3.

Can I have some of what you're on? ;-)

Spoilsport!
-
I don't think we'll win these sorts of matches until we've sorted the midfield out. It's bound to be a hard fought, scrappy affair, and our midfield is too soft and pedestrian. I really can't see us scoring with the choice of the two fat blokes we have up front.
-
3-0 villa in memory of Mr Taylor

This is it for me as well!
-
2-1 Wolves.
-
We simply must not lose to a Lambert team!!
-
It could happen, we're bobbins away, we've made no outfield signings as of yet so we have a mediocre midfield and attack and Lambert will be desperate to beat us.
Wolves were probably the most impressive visiting team at VP this season...I worry if we concede first as we really struggle to get back into away games when that happens.
-
It could happen, we're bobbins away
On the other hand they're bobbins at home. Something will have to give
-
Graham Taylor day. No tribute too big, not sure what the wolves fans thought of Sir Graham but sure it will be a respectful crowd.

Discussions taking place with Aston Villa and there will be some form of pre match tribute ahead of Saturday's game.
-
A minute's silence in honour of SGT followed by Wolves getting spanked 0-1 (would normally say 0-5, but we have no strikers).
The next home game, against Preston, should be an SGT memorial day with the club doing everything it can to pay tribute (videos, programme, web, etc) to a great club servant and an even better person.
-
I read someone mentioned in the tributes to him in the Graun that he was a wolves supporter.
Hopefully there'll be a minute's silence for him before the match and it is respectfully observed.
-
Typical Villa...2 weeks into transfer window and we've signed 1 player on loan. Sigh!!

Injury update from Pravda/People's Daily
Mile Jedinak and Nathan Baker should both be fit for the Wolves clash this weekend.
We face Wanderers in a derby encounter on Saturday with a 5.30pm kick-off.
Jedinak has struggled this week with a thigh injury while Baker was struggling late on against Tottenham in the FA Cup with a back problem.
The pair look set to be available but Gary Gardner might miss out.
Gardner was absent at White Hart Lane with a sickness bug.
While Gardner is starting to feel better, it’s unlikely he will be back at Molineux.
Steve Bruce told us: “Nathan is fine. He has trained all week.
“Gary hasn’t really trained at all this week except for today.
“We will see how he is but it will probably be too early for him.
“Mile has had a knock as well. We will see how he is but we think he will be fine.
“Other than that, we are absolutely fine.”
-
What a blow that Gardner is out. For Wolves.
-
I know we don't like clicking the links but I don't know how to download pictures. This is a great programme cover for tomorrow it has to be said.

They've done some great covers this season.

That's bloody good.
-
Gone for draw, hopefully Lambert won't get a win??
-
Be a good gauge to see how we have changed since Brucie's 1st game in charge of us v the dingles on the back of the RDM debacle.
thats what I'm afraid of, Bruce has made a lot of changes but I dont think we have improved all that much
Johnstone in as new keeper, Hutton back in as right back, Baker in for Elphick, Amavi in for Cissokho - thats only the defence
Kodjia missing robs us of any kid of spark up top and the likes of Amavi and Grealish are bang out of form at the moment, not to mention the teletubby duo struggles
first goal crucial but looks like a 0-0 to me
----------Johnstone
Hutton, Chester, Baker, Amavi
---Bacuna, Jedinak, Tshibola
Adamoah, Gabby, Grealish
-
What shit did Lambert chat about us in his "presser"?
-
What a blow that Gardner is out. For Wolves.
He made his league debut there in 2012...played quite well from memory.
Robbie Keane game...
-

'Excellen, rarely grea' sldkfjdks slsksnssn superrr'
-
I just can't see how we're going to pose a goal threat
-

Wow. The others are great too.
-
I just can't see how we're going to pose a goal threat
No I'm struggling to see that at the moment.
-
I just can't see a win today.
Lambert has a knack of doing well against his old teams, and seems to have them playing well.
Factor in our lack of goals, and inability to create many chances and I think the best we can expect is a draw.
If they score, we lose.
I think we will hold it to 0 -0 and a game closer to Kodjia coming back.
-
Here are the words to the song you must all sing for 90 minutes non-stop:-
"Graham Taylor's claret and blue army!"
-
Im just hoping Mr Mumbles will be quoting classic lines such as "We pick ourselves up and go again" or "The lads were excellent they really were".
Because we'll have three points.
-

-
2-1 villa . Set pieces be key today . Agbonlahor to get a cheeky goal and bacuna
-
anyone drinking in town before hand?
-
anyone drinking in town before hand?
Police said there are no 'away' pubs. How official this is remains to be seen.
-
Talking about brum
-
Talking about brum
Sorry. The jewellery Quarter and then the tram might be a good bet.
-
Plenty will be in the Villa Rose Tavern.
-
can't see why we shouldn't be expecting to win this match
They are below us in the league with a manager that's been in his post for a shorter time than ours
I think we have to go for a win here
-
Get those vocal chords limbered up to salute SGT.
-
Here are the words to the song you must all sing for 90 minutes non-stop:-
"Graham Taylor's claret and blue army!"
Absolutely this
-
Simple orders. Win or don't come home
This no pubs being open sounds a bit odd, as long as folks aren't in big gangs on wearing colours i fail to see how they won't get into a pub/bar. They aren't going to be shut by the police at tea time i'm sure

Agreed. I'm sure our fans will do him proud.

-
Im just hoping Mr Mumbles will be quoting classic lines such as "We pick ourselves up and go again" or "The lads were excellent they really were".
This time I would love to hear words I used to hate coming out of his mouth "we deserved something out of this game"!
