Let's get it over with then.

Gabby, Tish, Jedinak and Johnstone all start.

That's not really a positive start to the match thread is it Soccer? Let's have a bit of confidence and optimism. It's 4-5-1 and we will play on the counter but we have to go into this thinking we can win. Or at least bring them back to VP. I'm looking forward to seeing how Tish does in his first start under Bruce.

Spurs:  Vorm, Trippier, Carter-Vickers, Alderweireld, Wimmer, Davies, Dier (C), Winks, Sissoko, Son, Janssen.

Subs: Pau Lopez, Walker-Peters, Vertonghen, Wanyama, Dele, Onomah, Nkoudou

Not a bad team that.

Not sure about Grealish and Gabby but 4 in a flat midfield should give us some protection. Hopefully.

No doubt when the useless fucker up front manages his seventh touch of the ball he'll put his finger to his mouth and then Cup his ears to the 'haters' and really silence his critics.

Fat c*** on his own up front shows how badly we need another striker this window.

Disgraceful isn't it. Hopefully he'll get vertigo again and fuck off to Dubai with his shit cap and Shisha pipe.

Rest of the team seems ok. I would have liked us to go a bit more positive, two up front for example.. But come on, let's do these utter ******. Gargantuan ******!

Can't see the ball sticking up front for us. It's going to be all one way traffic. I just hope it's not too embarrassing.

Spurs:  Vorm, Trippier, Carter-Vickers, Alderweireld, Wimmer, Davies, Dier (C), Winks, Sissoko, Son, Janssen.

The thought of Gabby has panicked Spurs into playing a back five with three centre backs as well as someone who's been playing centre back for the last few matches in front of them.

Unnecessarily defensive from them, one would think.

This is the first time I've made a conscious decision not to go to a game solely because of the stupid kick-off time. Particularly galling as I was down in London for most of yesterday.

Looks as though Bruce has picked a decent starting line up.

With spurs starting 11 would fancy us at 11/1 but who's going to score for us? Draw it is then. Sign a striker and a win for us in the replay!!!

Negatives:  No forward line whatsoever.  I confidently predict we will score nil or fewer.

I reckon we should introduce a new label for players who exist in the vacuum that sits in the middle ground between Cowans at the top end & Hodge at the bottom. We should call this state 'Jenas neutral'. Ie. he means absolutely nothing to me, as if he don't exist.

Decent by Agbonlahor. Shame noone had kept up.

Yep he did all he could there...crossed it back towards the penalty spot. In that situation we really need to give someone like Bacuna or Tish licence to at least push on and try to get on the end of that.

There's where Angela Lansbury would be a good signing. Record for Forest suggests that's a player who can run into the box and get on the end of crosses.

Football in the premiership and football in the championship seem to be two completely different animals.
Could it be our players are more suited to a premiership stylee?
No consolation as to where we are at the moment but it does seem to be the case.

From our point of view I wouldn't call it a "dreadful game". We look far more organised than we have in ages. Keeper, defence and now the midfield look fine. We just need somebody to support Gabby up front. He's having a decent game but can't do it alone.

The worst bit about Mcleish was, he was genuinely likeable. I would have loved it if he had been any good, but he wasn't. Couldn't give a flying eff if he managed the Blues.

I also genuinely like Bruce and he's not doing too bad. We hated O'Leary and he didn't manage Blues.

I don't think you'll find many Villa fans who don't have a soft spot for Ron Atkinson and he managed West Brom - twice.

This lineup wouldn't concede many times against any championship team. With Kodjia up front it would win most.

But then again...Westwood is on a bench and Bruce is likely to use his subs...not going to improve this. Maybe RMC for Gabby would be reasonably safe considering the options...

Amavi is so shit. Get rid.

Got sucked in for the 2nd goal but thought he had a good game otherwise as did the rest of the defence.

He suffered alot when Bruce moved Bacuna over to Adomahs positions after the subs.

He is trying to involve one of the subs (Green I think) to help sort when they overload on our left side.
Green does a horrible defensive job and Amavi get stuck holding the bag.
Doesnt offer as much as he usually do offensivly but as soon as him or Bacuna involved Grealish he almost always turned and ran at Tottenham defense solo. Best case he got fouled, worst case he lost the ball.

I think Grealish is by far our worst player today. He gives up so many turnovers its just not as critical as  when a defender does it. Still hurts our possession and energy alot.
Otherwise the team looked solid for most of the game. Tshibola best midfielder performance we seen all season.

Johnstone....good game...looks like the best we've got between the posts....get rid of Bunn now and have Gollini as the understudy.
Hutton.....so FUCKING SHIT.....get rid asap.
Chester.....give him a much longer contract....class.
Baker....gave his all as usual.
Amavi....if we've really been offered what they say, SNAP THEIR FECKIN HANDS OFF NOW....
Glad to see Tshibola And Jedinak in the midfield, injuries apart, should keep them in until we get better replacements.
Adomah.....not given enough support, showed some good touches though....
Bacuna....solid game...
Grealish....not much effort and no substance.....
Agbonlahor.....another flabbyonegoalayear no show....had one chance I think...
1st Half .....0-0....job done...
2nd Half.....didn't get out of the blocks like we should have....
Subs....to late to make a difference...
