oh dear....good to see RHM and Tshibola back on bench.  Maybe the plan is bank of 4 with bacuna / adomah wide and just let Jack win fouls in a free role!

I would have thought Ayew a certain starter after the whole contacting the Ghanaian FA.

Midfield I just don't understand. I await the same old problems, faults and lack of decent play.

I fancied a win, yet am now leaning towards a draw.

It could have been a request made by Ghana not to play him the full game

I fear the midfield will miss Jedineks strength and no height up front to hold up play.  Noting that there was not a lot Bruce could do in this area with Kodjia away/gestede up north and gabby shite

There's 5 players in there and we are playing Cardiff. So I remain optimistic that the drop off isn't too extreme. We do need some midfielders through this January.

Hope your right - maybe Gardener will be able to win a bit more than we've seen before if he is asked to sit back.  We must keep the ball on the deck though.  I can't see any aerial presence upfront & midfield.  Against leeds every goalkick / long ball was aimed to Jedi

It will force us to play a different way. It's not always a bad thing. McCormack has a great goalscoring record at this level. Time for us to find a way to get him the ball in dangerous areas and have him finish those chances.

Just show's how poor our midfield is, Very light so a draw today be like a win.

Bruce has options, he just chooses not to use them. Jordan Lyden is a natural replacement for Jedi but he's not a fan of "kids".

I guess we'll see Westwood sitting and pointing with Bacuna and Gardner going box to box. It may just suit our game by keeping it on the deck but you have to wonder what will happen if Cardiff start playing it long. There's no height and I just hope Baker and Chester don't get pulled out of position.

All that considered, I still think we'll have enough to beat them. A goal from open play would be a bonus.

Mile Jedinak misses out today through illness. Over to Westwood, Gardner and Bacuna to add the midfield bite.

So, for the first time this season I find myself unable to attend a match or watch it on telly.  My Google-fu has let me down finding a moogy stream so i'm winding the clock back to the '80's and listening to the match on WM. Do they still have that horrible hooter thing when someone scores?

I'm not so confident with that line up. If I'm being kind, I'd say that 3 don't deserve to start (Bunn, Hutton, Westwood) and 3 don't deserve to be on our bench - Cissokho, Elphick, Gabby.

I really hope they can prove me wrong today and I'll be very impressed with Bruce if we get a win.

It's stating the obvious, but until the deadwood is binned, we will continue to stutter-(ie. lose and draw)

Simply don't play rubbish players, don't give them big contracts, dont give them clean slates, don't put them on the bench.   Remove, pay off, sell, execute.

Or we stay in this league.

There are 6 players in our matchday squad that I simply wouldn't have in there at all. They are 6 players that offer fuck all.

Four of them are in our team, cannot be defended and are the main reason we struggle.

Warnock teams rely on running around like maniacs. Playing them when they're nice and rested was always going to be bad news.

FIFA also need to ensure that consistent rules are employed for international calls. It's completely unreasonable that their African player is allowed to play and our star player isn't.

It is baffling though, that the obvious faults (players) in our team have been the same obvious faults for god knows how long.

They've never had great games, never stood out, have been on countless losing teams for us. They're quite clearly rubbish football players.

Yet they keep playing, pretty much week in week out. I just can't support such players.

I long for the day they disappear from our club. It does make me wonder what managers see in them. Gollini was clearly dropped after the Leeds game for what the manager saw as a mistake. Gollini is much better than Bunn, it's embarrassing. If Gollini can be dropped, why aren't these talentless wasters fucking dropped? It's infuriating.

Bunn, Hutton, Westwood, Gardner, Bacuna...5 players that aren't good enough to be making it into our starting XI, and you could make similar cases for a few more that started today. The players are simply not good enough, and thats why we are where we are, and why we're losing to Cardiff.

Fucking Gardner standing out as the worst of a terrible bunch. The midfield is dire, they're being bullied by a dog shit side in the bottom 3.

No organisation as the back and we could have been 3 down.

Needs to be somebody up front 2nd half, as they're knocking balls into the channel for McCormack who isn't going to be able to.do anything with it.

Absolutely atrocious. Ayew or Agbonlahor has to come on up top to give McCormack a partner. Tshibola into the midfield.

Exactly right, this is why performances like the leeds game are unacceptable and why Bruce needs to show that he can do something about it rather than just talk about it.  I just don't accept that this is entirely because our squad isn't good enough, it's because we're not playing to the strengths of the squad and it's making our weaknesses all the more obvious.

I'm getting to the point where staying down and fixing this properly is the right approach. While it would be great to suddenly find a magic sponge that solves 6 years of decay in a few months it's not realistic. We are better off rooting out the problems over a longer period of time across what will amount to 4 transfer windows before we play PL football again.

Thing is though the longer you stay down the harder it is to get back up. The damage was done under Lerner's sabotage and the squad and infrastructure we were left with was appalling. A pox on his home!

As much as I hate to think we are here for a while, I think you're right TV. The parachute payments will obviously cease, so we have to get back up by then. Next season might be more realistic.

Probably a question for another day/thread, but if you're looking to rebuild like that, would you choose Bruce as the man to do it?

Looks to me more like. Alan Hutton has fucking well fell over again missed the ball and fouled the Cardiff player.... and has some bad tattoos.

Surprising Bruce doesnt remember how dirty Cardiff was just a few games back.

If he did he wouldnt play Westwood who is the easiest player to bully in AV. One of the reason he is never hurt is that he just do not engage in phycical situations (pointing doesn't count).
At least Bruce figured that out at halftime. Scrappy games like this is what we need Jedi for. Missed sorely today.

Sheffield and Barnsley drawing, Derby losing, Brentford equalise against Blose then miss a penalty to take the lead, Fulham beating Brighton...we could really do with 3 points today but we'll be lucky to scrape a draw.

Have we actually played well under Bruce yet?  We seem to have had a few wins where we've won despite not playing well, but I don't remember any good performances.  The away record is dismal, and that line up today was obviously never going to end in a win

Only good personal thing today was going to put a tenner on Cardiff to win as soon as I saw the line up. What do our managers see in certain players. Without Jedinak at least winning some headers just what is the point of Westwood to name but one.

Did the same in an acca with Man City and Leeds. Just knew from that line up with were fucked, no Jed, no Kodjia (thanks Ivory Coast) and no real options in midfield. Bruce aint stupid, he knows the squad has holes in it.

We can spend another year in this league or go big and try for that final play off spot.
