Sorry but I'm baffled as to why Grealish isn't getting a start.

I have no idea why it does that when you copy from Twitter. It's massively annoying.

Can't make the game? Why not settle down to your soothing Boxing Day log while listening to my coverage of the game courtesy of the H&V Match Thread. You'll find it here... http://www.mearnsfm.org.uk/listen-live

Match updates interspersed with fine music (and some average to good tracks requested by your fellow H&Vers). Starts at 3pm.

I'd definitely have started jack. Bacuna left midfield and a severe lack of passing ability doesn't seem the right combo for a home game against burton

Two up front I guess though

Would agree with that, McCormack is very fortunate to be given another go. He needs to shine today. Don't see the point in playing Hutton at home to these, Bacuna at RB and Grealish on left wing surely a better bet at home v a team that has won once in 7 games.

442, Jedinak in the 6 role, Gardner in 8. Think Gardner will score today. 2-0 win McCormack and Gardner

Please can we buy two midfielders on the 1st of January.
If we got one decent ball winner / energetic player, then it might give SB the confidence to play Grealish or Ayew as opposed to midfielders like Bacuna Gardener Westwood that just run around without any effect on the game.
But can not fathom why RMC starts though.

One team kept the ball and tried to find a player with an easy pass. That was Burton. Villa just keep  giving the ball away. Our midfield do not have a good pass in them. Burton should be 3 - 1 up. Very very poor and disjointed performance so far.

It's pretty much every week now that I wonder what on earth do they practice? Why do we start so slow in games and why do we not have the confidence to dominate teams that like today, shouldn't be in the game given the comparative resources. Yet here we fucking are again.

Bruce fumes and postures when we play shit, but the players show zero evidence anything has changed or been worked on when they turn up for the next game.

I still maintain our problems are rooted in the midfield.

We have one Midfielder that can break up play and then..... What are the others capable of?

Three things made me smile during that half. One. Mark Kelly 'speaking' to me on that Live Facebook feed. Two. Seeing my cousin Helen and her husband were watching it too. Three. The number of people on Facebook 'ordering' beer and pies from the people they could see leaving their seats in the video.

I'll wait to see what he does across a couple of transfer windows before arriving at that conclusion. He's won promotion four times. It wasn't an accident. He needs to get some of his own players in because some of this lot are poor.

If it's a question of player attitudes (which I'm becoming sceptical about) then there's no better evidence than failure to perform against Burton, in a full VP, 5 days before a transfer window.

Don't get me wrong, I wanted Bruce to come; but surely, irrespective of players available there is no clear plan to pass the ball and keep possession.

I recall watching Hull play Sheffield Wed in the final last year and it was similar stuff. I thought he'd be more expansive than this, which is worrying

We will struggle to play a posession game with our current centre midfield options. Press any of them and they will just hoof it.

Add in Hutton and Baker behind them and maybe we would be best off playing a more direct game. Kodjia isn't that type of forward though to bring other players into the game.

I'm yet to be convinced only because we don't carry momentum forward. It's like we start each game like it is the first time playing together. Well that was a fine couple of hours, probably because I wasn't at the match so didn't have to watch it mind.

Sea Urchins, this is the best radio station in the world ever!

Basically this could be my iPod on shuffle.

And mine.  Did he play Close Lobsters?  For some reason the show wouldn't stream on my Mac so had to download the app on the iPhone.

Maybe Bruce does know what he's doing!

I'm yet to be convinced only because we don't carry momentum forward. It's like we start each game like it is the first time playing together. I don't envy what he took over and that has to be considered, but you'd think there would be more cohesion and something approaching a settled system by now.

24565 post and you know nothing about football!!

It's not pretty to watch but you don't head towards 5 home wins on the bounce and 7 wins in 11 by luck. My hope is we'll see better when he's not using such an unbalanced squad.

Best or second best squad in the league and he goes out of his way to make them unbalanced. Sorry, but it's not the squad that are the problem.
