2-0 home win as long as the server crashes mid-game.
-
Result wise..no idea....Hope last night may have been a case of us turning the corner but we are Villa and every time we think we have turned the corner we run into a brick wall..Perhaps Bruce could be the one to make the difference.
-
Aston Villa 8 (Eight) Fulham 1
-
Gollini
Hutton Chester baker amavi
Bacuna Jedinak Gardner (can't believe I'm typing that)
Adomah kodjia ayew
2-1
-
A home win would make the Reading result even sweeter.
Dare I say it......3-1 home win.
-
6-0 First half brace from Kodjia, Second Half brace from substitute Ayew, and one either side of half time from RM who laid on the other 4 goals.
-
Gollini
Hutton
Chester
Baker
Cissokho
Bacuna
Tish
Gardner
Ayew (very torn between he and Adomah)
Gestede (Think he'll be good at home this season).
Kodija
-
Trying not to get too carried away....I think we'll just nick it.
But one of these days we're gonna give somebody a right thumping!
-
1-0 win
-
I think we will just be better prepared for every game from this point on. Doesn't mean of course that we will win every game, but at least we will look like we practiced during the week. Hopefully that, the current quality in the squad and the players that Bruce will add in January will set us up for a very solid second half of the season.
For Fulham, I'll go 3-1
Kodjia, Adomah and RM
-
2-1 to a team responding to treatment in intensive care.
-
The Villa machine to keep on rolling...2-0, Kodjia and Gardner
-
3-0 Kodjia X 2, Ayew.
The juggernaut gains momentum.
UTV
-
draw unfortunately. 1-1.
Fulham have the same GD as Villa (-1), but 4 more points. I wonder why that is.....i think we may still have a few last 5 minute gifts for opposing teams in our cupboard, but i think Bruce will get to grips with it before long.
If we can somehow manage to figure out how to keep a clean sheet we'll get 3 points more often than that, as I'd back us to score in most games.
-
My second game of the season, my only other one was Rotherham. Think we'll win a tight game. 2-1
-
Are we gelling or clicking?
I get confused...
-
I'm giddy with excitement after a win the other night.
I'm going for a Villa win. There I've said it.
-
Gollini
Hutton
Chester
Baker
Cissokho
Bacuna
Tish
Gardner
Ayew (very torn between he and Adomah)
Gestede (Think he'll be good at home this season).
Kodija
Gollini
Hutton
Chester
Baker
Amavi
Bacuna
Tish
Gardner
Adomah
Kodija
Ayew
2-1 Fulham
-
If we start well, whatever the size of the crowd, it will feel like there are 80,000 in there.
And the players might start to realise what it means to us.
-
We are on a run!
Standing order cancelled
2-1 Villa
-
Surely we can't win back to back games can we?? Can't see it so I will go 1-1.
-
Gollini
Bacuna. Chester (C). Fabulous BB. Cisshoko
Jedinak
Tshibola. Amavi
Adomah. Kodija. Ayew
2-1.
-
3-1 to us. Reading were unbeaten at home, Fulham are unbeaten away. It's about time we were the ones to break records rather than setting ridiculous ones and helping out other teams.
-
Gollini
Hutton Chester baker amavi
Bacuna Jedinak Gardner (can't believe I'm typing that)
Adomah kodjia ayew
2-1
thats the team
-
Without putting a damper on this our previous manager also won his second hand and ... and rest is history.
-
Gollini
Bacuna Chester Baker Amavi
Tshibola Jedinak Gardner
Ayew Kodjia Adomah
Subs: Steer, Hutton, Cissokho, Westwood, McCormack, Gestede, RHM.
2-1 to Villa.
-
I wouldn't be looking to make wholesale changes on the back of our first win in months so would go with Gollini, Hutton, Baker, Chester, Amavi, Gardner, Tshibola, Bacuna, Adomah, Kodjia, Ayew
Subs - Steer, Cissokho, Westwood, Jedinak, Gestede, McCormack, Green
I'm going for 7-0 Villa, Hutton 6, Westwood pen :0)
-
I would bring Amavi in for Cissokho and ayew for Rudy.
It seems Jedinak was getting better as the game went on so I see no point dropping him and GG deserves another go . im not a big fan of Hutton but a few said he played well so not point changing him neither.
2-0 villa
-
I think that Jedi (and GG) benefited greatly from having Bacuna running around in front of them pressing the opposition.
If Tish comes back in, it should be for one of those two not Leo
-
If we start well, whatever the size of the crowd, it will feel like there are 80,000 in there.
And the players might start to realise what it means to us.
Fulham won't bring many I think. Thought I read somewhere we got 40,000 against the dogheads. Did they open the upper Trinity for it?
-
It just might be the case that the likes of Gardner and Baker aren't quite as hapless as we all thought, and may benefit greatly from working with a manager and coaches who know what they're doing, in a settled team, within a stable club environment.
Likewise, Jedinak, as many of us suspected, might benefit greatly from playing in an organised midfield, in which his role is clearly defined, and where he is at all times several hundred yards away from Ashley Westwood, who should be on the third row of benches in any dugout.
Other teams seem to be able to use bog standard players quite effectively, so there's no reason why we can't at this present moment, with the help of an experienced manager.
Think of it like a factory, where everybody knows how to do simple tasks, and they do them over and over until it's second nature; as opposed to a factory full of dim-witted individuals who haven't got a clue what they're supposed to be doing, roaming all over the shop floor, knocking over tins of springs and buckets of chemicals. One produces high performance automobiles, while the other produces Birmingham City diaries.
Anyway, we surely can't win two on the trot, Allah won't allow it, so a 2-2 draw it is.
-
0-1 after the false dawn of RDM i am not saying villa will win again .
-
I think we will win this and as Fulham have been comeback kings recently, I am thinking we will edge it 3-2 after being 2-0 up at HT (Kodjia and Gardner), Fulham will put us under immense pressure second half and drag it back to 2-2, only for Ayew to come on last ten mins and win us the points!
Team;
Gollini
Hutton
Chester
Baker
Amavi
Tshibola
Gardner
Bacuna
Kodjia
Gestede
Adomah
-
Same starting line up with Ayew instead of Gestede. I want to see Ayew and Kodja click. They have to click.
-

Fulham won't bring many I think. Thought I read somewhere we got 40,000 against the dogheads. Did they open the upper Trinity for it?
We got 32,000 against Wolves. Fulham won't bring 2900 so I think we'll be looking at about 31-32k.

I see we have a 4-£40 deal on which may push us up to 33k??
-
Rudy is fine for 20 minutes coming on If things are not going to plan . We cant start with him and leave Ayew on the bench , we need to get Kodjia and Ayew running on all cylinders.
-
3-1
In last match fulham impressicely fought back from 2 nil down . Scott Malone conceded 2 penalties -their version of cissoko then ! I think target him in defence !
Fulham are unbeaten on their travels and have that big lump Chris Martin playing for them.
Even so I feel with right selection and attitude villa can blitz then a win 3 goals to 1 . UTV! Great to have that feeling back isn't lads!
-
3-1
-
3-1 with a RM hatrick.
-
I have guessed a home win about time we had things going our way.
I still say hold on to the reins with your thoughts over Steve Bruce - could be our saviour or another one who you just want to thump (I am neither pro or anti btw).
One thing I would say is that I do feel for RDM I am sure he would have come good.
-
Why not win two in a row? Its worth a try :)
-
I don't really want to win two in a row. I don't want people thinking I'm a glory-hunter.
-
I think the pressure of the job quickly got to RDM and he quickly became another Sherwood. At the end neither knew their arse from their elbow. I think Bruce being a little longer in the tooth won't make the same mistakes when results go against us. Panicking with team selections is a recipe for disaster.
-
I'm going for an almost unprecedented 3 wins in a row to round off October nicely.....
-
Back down to earth with a bump. End of the world again.
-
Fulham will be hoping McCormack stays on the bench. They know what he is capable of.We should give him the second half at least.
-
I think we'll win 1-0 in an uncomfortable affair.
Kodjia will put us in the lead at some point in the second half, followed by us absolutely riding our luck defensively and somehow coming away unscathed (similar to the Wolves second half).
-
Let's be confident after our midweek annihilation of Reading, three nil win, Albert 2 and Ross the other
-
2-0 home win.
-
2-0 home win.
I pine for routine home wins.
-
Do people not learn anything? After a win we always, always, ALWAYS disappoint.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, no!...........please no

it's the Villa way don't ya know??!!
Seriously though, to be brutally i was very apprehensive about Bruce, but...... now, I feel with him at the helm, I'm confident we are in good hands at least at this level.
He's a good fit for us, and a proven manager.
We will win Saturday, he's the Guardiola of the championship.

hope not
no 4-0 defeat
-
I hope the website doesn't go down again as I only have you lot on here to let me know how the game went. Hoping we've turned the corner, 2-0 Villa.
-
I'm expecting a bit great performance and for Fulham to have spells dominating possession. But for us to be organised and give few chances away and to look dangerous
A mon style 2-1 win
-
I dont know how and I don't know why (Well, it worked against Reading) but we'll win this 3-0.
-
Fulham news:
Jokanovic the manager said: only Tomas Kalas who is a central defender isnt ready for being included in squad.
Floyd Ayite started working today for the first time after a long period. He's now back with the group and we're going to assess him and choose what we believe is better for him and for us. He'll soon be ready to help us.
Tom Cairney was working with us. He would have been ready for the last game and we believe he can be available this Saturday.
Cairney is a decent attacking player and Ayite is pretty pacey and skillfull. Both these players are 2 of there better ones.
-
I've gone draw - normal service resumed but hopefully not a loss.

I've never heard of any of these people

Fulham play better away and are unbeaten away. Second to Newcastle on away form this season. Their manager, who got Watford promoted in 2015, is rebuilding them.
Villa unbeaten at home.
But with the "after the Lord mayor's show" factor for Villa kicking in it will be a Fulham win.

Kalas is a very promising CB, on loan from Chelsea, who played at Boro in the Championship too. It's good for us that he's out.
Tom Cairney, got a good left foot and scores goals from midfield, 8 last season and 3 so far this, one we need to watch.
-
Two wins in a week feels fanciful, nigh on greedy. Back to our comfort zone tomorrow.
Aston Villa 1 Fulham 1
-
Bruce must jizz them up for the last ten minutes with a defensive sub if we happen to be ahead. We hold the unfortunate record of losing in final minutes and SB should ensure it ends with his appointment. GL and oop da villa tomorrow.

If he brings on a defensive player the temptation will be to play deeper and deeper. I hope he brings on an attacking player if we're trying to see the game out.

Win win win

Appropriate measures. Stop The Rot. Apply Ronseal to the soles of boots, whatever. Whatever is necessary. Oop da Villa.
-
Correct. If we score 1 goal the objective has to be get another. If we get another the objective then is to get another. If we get another the objective then is to get another.
-
I'd bring in Ayew for Gestede.
I feel some faith has been restored after then well had been tapped dry. They are decent away from home, but its time to stand up and be counted.
-
An emotional game this one as it's my late fathers team and tomorrow will be my youngest daughters first ever game. I haven't seen us win in the flesh since Chelsea back in March 2014, which was a huge 2 years 7 months and six days ago. I'm gonna go with 4-0 Villa.
-
Think we might win 3 now while Grealish is suspendend and Westwood hasnt found enough dirt on Bruce to do his regular blackmail-the-manager-for-autoselection !
-
If fit i'd go with the following as a 4-5-1 but with Ayew/Adomah pushing on as much as possible
Gollini
Hutton
Chester
Baker
Amavi
Bacuna
Tsihbola
Gardner
Ayew
Kodjia
Adomah
Use Gestede as an impact sub late on if needed, bring Ross Mc on at HT if one of the front three aren't doing their job and switch to 4-3-1-2
-
Fulham at home always used to be a nailed on home 3 points in the premier league. Even McLeish beat them with a last minute Weimann goal.
Look like one of these sides who score and concede plenty (4-2 last away at Barnsley) so think it will be an open game tomorrow which should suit us and give us space to run into.
3-2 win.
-
Correct. If we score 1 goal the objective has to be get another. If we get another the objective then is to get another. If we get another the objective then is to get another.
What if we then get another?
-
Fulham have been in some bit of form recently scoring 4 away and then coming back from 2 down vs Norwich.
I'd be content with a solid performance and a late Kodija pen to seal the 3 points :)

Fulham are the only team I can remember us getting 2 late winners against (Weimann and Maloney). No wonder everyone has a soft spot for them.
-
A hard fought Villa win 2-1
-

Great if we do. I'll be happy as long as we don't think for one iota that one single goal right up until the 90th minute is sufficient for this Aston Villa to win a game of football.
-
Just realised we've gone above the mighty Burton Albion albeit on goal difference. Hey, come on, we all have to start somewhere!!!
-
I ve swapped my ticket on the holte upper with a mate whos taking his son for the first time. I ve got their witton upper tickets. New seat = a change of luck!!!
-

Yes we have but I'll still be cheering for them tonight

1-1 Baker

1-1 Baker
For them or us?
-

in the Maloney game Zat Knight scored the other Villa goal, an own goal, while he was still with Fulham. A week later he had moved to Villa and scored in the 2-0 win over Chelsea which effectively got Mourinho the sack

Funnily enough we saw him jogging on the Sunday morning around the Grange Rd pitches in Erdington after that Fulham game, obviously he'd stayed at his Mom's house around the corner (which we only knew subsequently thanks to his brother getting knicked there and it being front page of the mail).
-
We've turned the corner now with a 'new manager bounce'.
2-0 Villa -McCormack and kodija.
-
We're gonna batter 'em and the noses will be bricking it.
-
Win the next two and we are just 3 points behind the noses. What a difference a fortnight makes?
-
Fulham are bringing 1100. Piss poor.
-
I have been ill since Wednesday but have shaken off my virus/bug God knows what it was and am going today.
Ashamed to say the last game I went to was the 3-1 over Man city a few years ago.
Will predict the same result today, 3-1 villa, with Kodija,Adomah and Baker for us, Aluko for them.
-
Win the next two and we are just 3 points behind the noses. What a difference a fortnight makes?
One game at a time, we do need a win or Tuesdays heroics were for nothing.
I'm going down today, does anyone know if you can get the 4 for £40 deal on the day?
-
I've just called the ticket office for the 4 for £40, they told me they were struggling for them, so if you want them, phone ASAP. I just about managed to get some.

Heroics?? Please...
-
A proper football fixture - two great old clubs playing each other at 3 o'clock on a Saturday afternoon, albeit sadly not in the top tier. Can only be a draw. 2-2
-
I think it'll be a tougher game that some people think today, they're not too bad a side. I think we'll just about edge it though, 2-1.
-
Fulham, a great club?
-
I think it will be very tough. Hoping we don't concede first or it could be a real slog to battle back for a point.

First away win in 14 months against all the odds, I'd say that's pretty Heroic?!?
Are we not all about Heroes and Villains on here? ;)
-
Fulham, a great club?
For those of a certain vintage, why not? And they're great to think of a neutral section, awfully polite altogether.
-

Cheers, just called and got some in T2 North Upper.
Now I have a spare adult ticket, anyone fancy it for £10?
-
My mistake, we beat city 3-2 the last time I went to villa park, may be the same score today, think it will be close.
-
Fulham, a great club?
What I call a proper traditional old club and always had a soft spot for them, with the walk to their ground second only to my stroll across Aston Park on matchdays. Sure they've not won anything but still a great old club in my eyes.
-
Fulham, a great club?
May be not great but a very decent club despite Dodi's dad messing them about for a few years.

Agreed - I'd say they are a great club, but for very different reasons than ourselves.
Though saying that they have been in more European finals than we have in the past decade...
-
Don't go to many away games nowadays, Fulham away has always been a day out I've enjoyed.
-
Win the next two and we are just 3 points behind the noses. What a difference a fortnight makes?
We want to be aiming a little bit higher than that.
-
The other night should give us a big lift. Fulham at home is certainly winnable anyway. Will go for a 3-1 win to us. Bacuna, Kodja and Ross.
-
Villa 2-1 with RM to score the winner. Oh yes! :P
-
Is anyone else getting a runtime error and a blank page on the villa site and avtv - I hope it's fixed in time for the game or the commentary won't be available.
-
Interesting team selection. Ayew starts ahead of Adomah. Gestede leads the line.
-

Adomah was touch and go to even be on the bench, but I like the line up. Gardner played well the other night and we need that little bit of competition in their with Tshibola.
