.......when we lose the site (regularly) on midweek match days.
-
It's lucky.
Turn H&V off during the Fulham game, please.
-
Our first away win in god knows how long was too much for the site to handle.
-
And look at us superlosers right back on as soon as it's fixed!
-
I was starting to fret - maybe an away win was just too much for it to handle.
Glad we're back!
-
Trying to follow the game on BBC Text Commentary is shite.
I think I preferred Ceefax.
-
BBC Radio Berkshire was somehow, serendipitously, free of the geographical blocking. Or maybe it's because I'm in West London. Anyway, I was alright, Jack.
-
Apologies to all, major problems with server. I had to give up at 4am until in work this morning. Looks like problem was in an upgrade of Mysql but still investigating.

Used a combination of twitter and BBC text, was not great.
Can't remember the last time Villa made me so happy though when the page finally refreshed and I knew the whistle had been blown. Napoleon is often quoted as saying 'Give me lucky Generals', perhaps we have one in Bruce.
Be interested to read what the folk who saw it live think.

Bloody sql, bane of my life.
-
I panicked when "Account Suspended" appeared on my tablet. I thought the site may have come out in sympathy with Jack!
Anyway nice to see it back. Well done Martin.
-
Welcome back.
-
Forgive me Father, I even ventured onto Villa Talk. Wanted to see what subs we had made, as Bet365 just says "Substitution", but the miserable buggers wouldn't put that info on there.
I won't go there again. A silly place.
-

Yes I agree. What you need Martin is a Bysql as back up when Motorsql fails. If you need anymore help you know where I am.
-
Just send Olaf a PM if the site goes off again.
Oh, hang on a sec....

I also did that but soon closed it without going into any thread...have washed and scrubbed since then.
-
Welcome back and thanks for the hard work, it's appreciated.
WE WON!
-
It was a lonely night in Spain last night without H&V. Even had to talk to the mother of my child - WTF

I had a similar struggle.
-
Best is to write to me at my work's address. Mail usually arrives whithin 3 months of posting.
-
I panicked when "Account Suspended" appeared on my tablet.
I had to do that as server was having a meltdown and our error pages were not loading.
-
Back in the room!
-
Get in there, the site is back!!!!
Oh and we won away.
-
It's alive..... alive I tell you!!!
-
Apologies to all.
Having your own server means they are not interested in any of your software problems even when caused by their upgrades on server.
Still some errors about, but l will work my way through them.
Post any you see here so l can spot them.
Thanks
-
Just great to be back up and running, thanks for the tireless work Martin
Is it stable enough that it is likely to be back up and running or should we expect it to come and go for a while?
-
Thanks for the hard work Martin - I was getting withdrawal symptoms, so nice to get my usual hit back
-
I've only just got back on.. but no recent posts on the left.. help..
-
Don't leave me again, I'm begging you.
Thanks for working on our behalf Martin.

It should be stable enough for now. l will have to do a fresh install at some point, but that should not take long and l will do it during the night.
If it comes and goes, it should be because l am doing small bits and pieces that need the dbase to not be in use, but not for long periods.
Unfortunately the upgrades buggered everything that used Mysql on the server, except Dave's shop!!!!

You'll have to bear with me on that one, it was controlled by portal and that's corrupted.

Villa better score again against Fulham just so we can stresstest the site :)
-
Thanks for all your efforts Martin, much appreciated
-
I think had it not broken by it's own avolition it might well have crumbled by the amount of bewildered posts with the news of the win.
-
Glad we're back up and running, I missed you all. Well most anyway. 😉
Thanks for the hard work Martin.
-
I've had to do some work today I was so bored!
-
I've had to do some work today I was so bored!
I had that predicament as well. Thanks to Coops on Facebook for his valid suggestion of having a tug instead.
-
Thanks Martin. A reminder that this operation is a pain in the bollocks to keep afloat. And an even stronger reminder that people shouldn't abuse that hard work by saying that U2 are alright.
-
Legion's page on Facebook was a nice alternative last night but great to have the old girl back.
-
Oh thank god it's back!
Been wanting to post this for about the last 20 hours;
Get In!!!! WOOHOO! Excellent result, Well done!
That's better.

Bugger, forgot about there, that might have to wait a bit.
-
If it should happen again, always worth remembering to go to our Facebook page and we can start a post on there to use as a match thread etc.

Oi! Leave my band out of it!
Mine crashed the moment I saw Cissoko's bungling tackle and was about to slag him off.
Thanks for your efforts Martin. I have no idea how these things work only how to install a power supply!
-
Have you got 'Golden Muppet' not showing on your list Martin?

Fine if you're a teenage girl, but what if you don't like Facebook?

But you are a teenage girl so you're fine.
Mighty fine. How you doin'?
-
Why, you!
-
It's true you don't realise you'll miss it till it's gone. My word that was a testing time....
I can breathe again

Teenagers on Facebook? Get with it, daddio. The only people I ever see on Facebook are celebrating the golden anniversary of their menopause.
-

I have now!
-
I fort id been fooked off. agree with the title thread, UTV
-
Oh how I've missed my virtual H&V family today!
Thanks for your tireless efforts Martin.

Got this when posting my message:

-
I am worried I'm an addict now - nearly 24 hours without H&V - too much!
-
Is the mobile site unavailable?
Thanks for getting us up and running again.
-
Thank you Martin. The crash coincided with a power cut at my house. For twenty minutes I thought I had died.
-
As someone whose knowledge of computers is power on, power off and my own favourite Ctrl Alt delete I haven't a clue what your all on about however it would seem that thanks are to Martin
-
I felt homeless for a while. Now it feels like I have myself a new cardboard box.
-
Is the mobile site unavailable?
Should be working now.
-
It's a real bugger as I was working from home today I.e spending all day on here and actually had to do some work!
-

Done, l think!
-

I had to do the deleting website data thing on my iPhone to get back to mobile version, in case that's relevant to others.
-
My usual lunchtime break from my latest extraordinary decorating masterpiece wasn't quite the same without my adrenaline shot of H &V today.
Glad that the entertaining, broad, informative and slightly unhinged madness that is this site has been resumed.

Also, there is no FORUM tab option at the top of the page.
Apologies if these have already been mentioned.

Thank you Martin.

Fantastic. Many thanks.
-
Martin, I shall increase my annual paltry 50p donation to 75p in November. Cheers!
-
The Home and Forum tab are now back. Many thanks Martin.

Just off to check if the women over 40 thread is safely embedded in SQL...
-
Thanks Martin.

I ventured on there too..it reminded me of Small Heath Alliance, full of riff raff..not for me thanks!!

How did I miss that?
-
What's going to happen if we win two games in a row? Or am I being stupid to think that so no need for Martin to plan for that?
-

Me too at lunch time, absolutely horrible place.
-
Thanks Martin.
Seconded, and maybe an opportune time to remind posters of the costs involved in keeping the site live and that contributions to its upkeep are very welcome via the Contribute Now button.
Give us yer money now you gobshites.....
-
Thanks Martin! I was bereft.
Also beginning to be slightly loopy at the prospect of Guess The Crowd disappearing and so having to recreate the last set of divisions again.
All that adding up! Aaaargh!
Thank God and Martin it's back, unscathed and with a couple of days to go on GTC 7 Villa v Fulham! Get your guesses in, Brucies are wild all week!
So, you'll gather that I'm more pleased than most that our lovely Villa home is back. :)
Now I know how the Waltons felt when Grandpa left the bathroom heater plugged in and the house burned down. (Although it could also have been caused by John-Boy's pipe which he dropped on the carpet when Elizabeth was sleepwalking.)
In this case, it has to be Legion, somewhere in the mix. I don't buy this stuff about dedicated servers rejecting unsolicited upgrades. Upgrades are good and result in better seats.
Yes, I am deliriously happy, still, because WE WON!
-
Yes, that's it. Blame me. All I did was click on the 'Do Not Click Here' virtual server button.
-
For me Lou it was more like the night the stables at Brookfield Farm went up in flames and Grace perished trying to rescue the hosses while Dan struggled to get his trousers on, Doris was phoning the WI, Phil was hiding under the table and Jack Archer was in a lock-in at The Bull. All on the night of the launch of ITV.

I tried TBAR too. Oh my.
After 30 seconds I read "as long as we beat Blues, I don't really care about everything else".
It was more informative to look at our blank screen.
-
Morning All,
Good to be back, missed my " H & V fix" yesterday. Like a few others, I dare say, I was panicking a tad yesterday.
A cup of tea is no good without a quick visit in here to see what's being discussed!

Glad to be of help. Did you do it at your desk?
Oh, and thanks for all the hard work Martin, always appreciated.
-
Agreed. And I second PWS' assertion that all the non-Muppets should cough up.
Give the mods some advance notice though so they can delete all the threads slagging you off.
-
It wor me. It was PeterWithe. I just delete the threads you mention!
-
Apologies to both Peter Withe-inspired username holders.
The shock of being without H&V for a day was too much for me.
-

Gosh. It's almost as if....you were there!
PWS, Tayls; do you know something you'd like to share with the group?
-
The predictions league seems to still have error messages but it might be just mine.
-
It looks like that will need to be re-installed
-
Predictions is now working after a fashion, see my post in the Prediction League thread.
