Deepdale. Saturday 01/10/16 KO 3pm
1-1. It's always a draw.
-
I reckon this is our first league game against them for 42 years. It was a draw then as well.
-
Went for a draw.. its the only viable option at this point.
-

Exactly!
-
Preston equaliser in 91st minute. 2-2
-
we are the most predictable bet in football
-
Saw Preston against Wigan and they looked utter shite.
First time I've predicted a defeat. 1-0 Preston, 90th minute.
-
Another late equaliser to deny us 2-2.
-
I think this is the one where we tonk someone. 4-1 to the Villa!
-
Nailed on we fuck it up royally again. I think we'll throw away two points in injury time in this one.
-
1-1 there equaliser after 85 minutes.
-
1-1 there equaliser after 85 minutes.
why would you think that then ???
-
Knowing our luck Callum Robinson will equalise four minutes into injury time.
-
Oh for fucks sake, are we playing again?
Fake edit: just remembered I'm going. Jesus Christ.
-
1 nil to PNE and RDM out
-
We'll be fine. I have a good track record of watching Villa win in the north west (OK, it's going back a few years, against Blackburn and Wigan) and I'll be there on Saturday...
-
I reckon this is our first league game against them for 42 years. It was a draw then as well.
Our first ever league game against them was Saturday 10 November 1888. Yes, you guessed it.
-
Meh...
-
Draw.
-
Grealish to last 60 minutes after sinking 4 pints of Stella and three Southern Comforts on Friday night. Gollini to miss a punch and allow the ball to bounce off Bacuna arse for an o.g. Westwood to injure Jedinak by pointing his eye out. Ayew to hit the side-netting six times, Richards to have a long piss in the dugout. Di Matteo to spend the first half reading his Kindle.
2-0 to Preston.

Typical Villa. FFS!

This is it, October 1st 2016, Preston 1-4 Aston Villa.
-
Normally go for a win but, being sensible, a narrow defeat to mighty PNE(Well they used to be years back anyway)!!
-
We'll be fine. I have a good track record of watching Villa win in the north west (OK, it's going back a few years, against Blackburn and Wigan) and I'll be there on Saturday...
Kendal by any chance?

I havent, but im the best known Villa fan in Kendal, ask around tomorrow and youll know who i am, if you dont already? ;) ;) ;)
-
We surely have to win this....it's getting ridiculous now.
1-2 win...late winner from Westwood just for the laugh. Might aswell have a comical goalscorer.
Will be lively either way, looking forward to it.

Think it will be Richards.....!

Run of draws to end.
1-0 to PNE.
Gollini error.
-
I watched their game against Wigan last Friday and although they won, it was a poor game and I didn't think much of them.
They did hold SHA to a draw at the sty after that though.
If we can get it together this is the kind of game we should be winning comfortably but granted this is Villa we are talking about.
It's probably going to be another draw, 1-1.
-
Another draw with a goal in the last five minutes and a visit from the Gambling Commission.
-
win, or it's Robbie's Waterloo

I reckon another inglorious draw is nailed-on. I do, I do, I do, I do, I do. :D
1-1 - & you can guess the rest. ::)
-
win, or it's Robbie's Waterloo
Prepare for a host of Abba puns!
My, my......
If Bacuna's out, is it too late to bring back Fernando (Nelson) ?
-
1-1 for a change they score in 90 + 1
-
I think we will win. That was good to get out there (it will probably be 1-1).
-
I'm losing the faith unfortunately...
Preston to win 2-1 Ross McCormack 57, Callum Robinson 88, Daniel Johnson 90 + 3
RDM Out
-
Nostradamus reckons it will be a score draw

It is. Given the options available, I'd be sending out an S.O.S.
-
Lose and it's "Thank you for the (music)" for RDM surely?
-
Preston 1 (Johnson 90+8)
Villa 1 (Ayew 77).
Ciao.
-

In the end, it's a results business. That's the name of the game. ;)
-
These draws just keep going On and On and On
-
Preston 1 (Johnson 90+8 4.27 am Tuesday 18th October)
Villa 1 (Ayew 77).
Ciao.
Fixed.

Yep, the winner takes it all

We'll finally get a win here.
-
We'll finally get a win here.
Was that a B-Side?
-
We'll finally get a win here.
No chance until we get a direct, combative midfielder like Scott Brown. My brother was at the Celtic/Man City match and when he called me last night from Glasgow he told me Brown was excellent.

Is there going to be a different score than 1-1 I don't think so.

Callum Robinson admits emotions will run high in Saturday’s match against Villa and says he will always be grateful for his B6 upbringing.
The 21-year-old joined the Deepdale outfit in the summer following successful loan spells.
It brought an end to Robinson’s 13-year association with the claret and blues.
Robinson progressed through the B6 youth ranks and made his Premier League debut in a goalless draw with Southampton in April 2014.
Competition for places meant he struggled to hold down a regular spot in the senior set-up so linked up with the Lancashire side on a permanent basis in the summer.
He’s started the 2016/17 season well and has two Championship goals to his name.
The Northampton born forward will always look back fondly on his time in the second city and is relishing this weekend’s encounter against his former club.
He said: “When I left Villa it was obviously the first game I looked at and it wasn’t too long or too far away on October 1.
“It’s been on my mind obviously but hopefully we can get a result against them and I will be really happy with that.
“I was there from eight-years-old. I have been through a lot of coaches - some are still there and some have left and a lot of players have come and gone during the 13 years I was there.
“I was grateful for the opportunity with the likes of Tony McAndrew and Kevin MacDonald who developed me into a good player and got me into the first team with Aston Villa in the Premier League.
“I am grateful for the help they have given to me.
“They helped develop me into the player I am today and I am learning other things here now too.
“I was there for a long time and it was obviously going to be a big game for me.”
Saturday sees Robinson, along with fellow Bodymoor Heath academy graduate Daniel Johnson, lock horns with Villa for the first time.
It follows the Lilywhites’ 2-2 draw with Birmingham City at St Andrew’s – where Johnson was on target.
And Robinson admits it’s a big day for him and his family and says he’s hopeful of a positive reception from the 5,657 travelling support.
He added: “It’s going to be a bit of an emotional day playing against Villa and my mum and dad have been there from the very start.
“Back then they made the decision to take me from Northampton to Villa three times a week, so it’ll be a big day for them as well.
“I have about 10 to 15 people coming to the match.
“It was mad when I looked at the fixture list and saw Blues and Villa right next to each other.
“With Villa I think they will give me a good applause, because the time I had there and when I was in and around the first team they really wanted me to do well and were by my side.”
-
I Have A Dream
.....that we won't concede a late goal.
0-1
-
Surely the poll should be:
Score a last minute equaliser draw
Routine draw
Concede a last minute equaliser draw
-
1-1, with their equaliser not being all that late on 79 minutes.
-
We'll finally get a win here.
No chance until we get a direct, combative midfielder like Scott Brown. My brother was at the Celtic/Man City match and when he called me last night from Glasgow he told me Brown was excellent.
Only saw the highlights but he was definitely at fault for one of the Man City equalisers.
-
Scott Brown is somebody I took an instant dislike to the first time I saw him.
-
Aston Villa 2 (Westwood double) Preston North End 2 (Westwood 2 own goals)
-
Bacuna is suspended so I take it Hutton will play there or move Chester?
-
3-0 to us, the winning run commences including beating Small Heath, then the fans will want to build a statue of RDM.
-
They did look genuinely awful against Wigan, barely saw any of the ball, knocked it long into two immobile lumps and got away with it I thought, Wigan being mince themselves.
It's not like us to turn up, impose our will, bag a few goals and go home happy though is it.
-
They do play a lot of long ball stuff, but they are also capable of moving it quickly through the middle and out to the wings in phases too. ('In phases' is key - they drift in and out of games a bit) They mixed it up far more against Blues, and more importantly, kept trying to win the game right up to the end of the 5 minutes of injury time.
They do make heavy use of Callum Robinson on the wings, but he seems to pull out of challenges nervously , and is likely to be up against Alan Hutton this weekend - so this might work for us. Their midfield is tenacious and always looking to get a foot in. Daniel Johnson is generally superb for them.
-
win, or it's Robbie's Waterloo
Prepare for a host of Abba puns!
I'm sure our super troupers will win this one.
-
Aston Villa 2 (Westwood double) Preston North End 2 (Westwood 2 own goals)
more chance of the own goals than the nose bleed offensive ploy, me thinks.
-
With the amount of money, money, momey we spent in the summer we really should be looking for the win.
-
A Nose acquaintance of mine said Daniel Johnson was brilliant for Preston the other night.

You can have 'friends ' from a different social strata you know.
-
A Nose acquaintance of mine said Daniel Johnson was brilliant for Preston the other night.
To be 'brilliant' in the eyes of a Nose you only have to be able to complete a pass to one of your own players once during any given 90 minutes.

I'd settle for that right now

Where are places to drink for away fans? Also I've had two different people tell me it's easily walking distance and another say I'd need to get a bus from the station. Anyone with any ideas?

Apparently there's a handy Away Guide somewhere on the World Wide Web.

D'oh!
-
Less sarcastically I did a quick recce and I'll defiantly be giving this one a visit.
https://www.robinsonsbrewery.com/blackhorse
Also The Guild Ale House on Lancaster Road. Looks interesting. Local man used savings to start a pub!
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yT0VB9m3Pc0
-
Looks like the AVBW firm will be looked after up there.
-
Daniel Johnson always looked better than Gardner to me - not just saying that with hindsight. He'll probably cover twice the ground of Jedinak.
1-1 again
We're never going to hold onto a one goal lead so we need to start scoring twice
And Gollini needs to stop gifting goals
-
1-1 Grealish and 91st minute own goal.
-
Cant be arsed to predict anymore
so I'm going 1-1 with their equaliser somewhere in 85 -95 minute standing order
-
Villa bear, as a local the Guild Ale House is alright, I mentioned it on the away guide. The beer is pretty good, the decor is a little bit loud, but fair play to the guy for starting it up. If you want the best real ale head for the The Continental, which is a bit out of town, again see the away guide.
-
I think we are going to twat these 1-1.
-
1st minute goal by Preston, a new early goal nightmare scenario is started.
-
Another ground I've not been to so looking forward to this one. I predicted 1-3 for the Barnsley game so I'm going to predict 1-1 in the hope that it's actually 1-3.
-
As for pubs, the 12 Tellers and Grey Friars are friendly, cheap and huge
avoid the New Britannia full of Preston pissed up ninjas
And its a good 1/2 hour walk from train station to the ground
from PNEpolice, they suggest The Sumners, limited parking, but 5 min walk to the ground

Did I dream it, or did I read that we'd sold nearly 6000 tickets for this match?
-
Did I dream it, or did I read that we'd sold nearly 6000 tickets for this match?
Nearly 5700 I think.
-
Cant wait - been waiting for this game for 14 years (albeit hoping it was a cup tie). Will be a few extra villains in home stand as well. I'm heading to the 12 tellers for a bit of lunch before hand (with 3 young lads & 3 girls if any other H&V'ers want to say hello)
-
I think this is the game where finally, everything clicks and we lose about 7-0
-
Or we could gel and concede twelvety.
-
Can we play our joker 'It's A Knockout' style?
-
Can we play our joker 'It's A Knockout' style?
Like when we brought him on for the last 15 mins on Tuesday?
-
I have entered a delusional state in which I cannot think about Westwood without seeing the scene from Master and Commander in which the midshipman picks up a cannonball and steps over the side of the ship. Cut to shot of wind starting to billow the sails. Sorry. Can't help it.
-
Saw this on the away guide, a proper welcome from a local boozer
Well it's been a while since we met in the league, or at all tbh so I'm extending my blue and white hand to any Villa fans in need of a good pint of ale and/or food before Saturday's game.
The Moorbrook on North Road (PR1 1NR) is by far Preston's finest pub and 10-15mins walk from the railway station and the same again to Deepdale (a good halfway point). A taxi from the station will cost you £5 and for those in a car/coach/minibus there is a huge car park to the rear courtesy of a recently closed B&Q at £1 for 12hrs.
With 7 cask pumps and 5 keg taps there is a wide and varied selection of real and craft ales from all over the UK and beyond including a house pale brewed by Blackjack Brewery. For non ale drinkers there is a specially brewed Belgium house pilsner, bottled German pilsners and wheat beers, Thatcher's Cider, Stella 4 and a range of wine and spirits. Think of it as Preston's version of The Craven Arms near New Street.
The current lineup includes ale from Hardknott, Blackjack, Wiper & True, Tiny Rebel, First Chop, Burton Bridge and Windswept breweries.
Food wise the landlord has recently installed a wood fired oven and from there serves homemade pizzas cooked to order before your very eyes. Pizzas are £5 or £7 with a pint of cask/pilsner. There are also crisps, nuts, scratchings and other snacks available from the bar.
If you want to check the place out yourselves go to @themoorbrook on Twitter or The Moorbrook on Facebook.
See you on Saturday.
-
I think this is the game where finally, everything clicks and we lose about 7-0
It's a cracker!
-
A late 2-1 win for us
-
A draw,we only do draws. Nailed on either Daniel Johnson or Calum Robinson to level things up the in 96th min as RDM has told his players to concentrate for 95 minutes
-
Got my ticket, the ferry's booked, I'll be there.
-
Got my ticket, the ferry's booked, I'll be there.
Love it. The only man arriving by boat. Enjoy!
-
Quite a handy fixture for all us pilgrims in the north.
-
Prestons average attendance is 11,000, this wont be too far off from a neutral venue with the near 6,000 we are taking.
-
Got my ticket, the ferry's booked, I'll be there.

we'll all be paying the ferryman to cross the river dis
-
Got my ticket, the ferry's booked, I'll be there.
Good man. Twelve tellers at noon then or will you be too seasick? A trek from Fleetwood too!
-
Weather forecast isn't too bad, so hopefully not too rough. Gets in at Liverpool, so thankfully no Everton or Liverpool games tomorrow.
-
been pretty spot on this season with predictions. Okay so predicting draws is no great shakes but this is the turning point. possibly. 0-2
-
Alcohol has been taken, therefore current confidence levels bear no resemblance to current form.
Preston North End 1 Aston Villa 8
-
I can't say we will win with any confidence. But I'm going with my Mum to the match and last time she came to a Villa match with me we got a battling away win at Palace during the later stages of the Lambert era so a repeat of that would do tomorrow. Will go 1-2 to us with Kodja and Chester getting ours. It might be a good sign if we go a goal behind rather than start out leading of course ;)
I don't think it would be right to sack RDM if we don't win. Its still early for that and having backed him we've got to give him the season to prove himself. I don't think we are going to be any serious danager of going down, but we do need big improvement. Fingers crossed that can start here.
-
Surely this is the one? Put some demons to rest and win away from home? Surely?
-
Predicted wins all season, can't help it when I see the opposition.
So here we go, 1-1.
We have to win now!
UTV
-
Left my house at 5.30. Picking up two others in Bournemouth and then the long journey north. Please let this be the day the Villa start to turn our fortunes around!
-
I commend your commitment and hope you are rewarded with a win!
-
Let's hope today is the start of a good run. It would be typical though if we won today going into the back of a two week break. Should be a cracking atmosphere though.
-
I'm out today and won't be able to follow the game. I'm hoping that'll be enough to see us through!
-
Knowing our luck Callum Robinson will equalise four minutes into injury time.
It's not down to luck. It's a mindset now that our players think "fucking he'll last 5 minutes were bound to concede a goal" while the opposition know it's only villa we will definitely get a goal in the last 5 minutes if we just keep lumping the ball into the box. Robbie & Steve have somehow got to break the mould.
-

I always fancied the blonde one.
I think his name was Benny😀
-
Just got on the boat. Cup of tea and bacon sarnie (red sauce) incoming.
-
Can we play our joker 'It's A Knockout' style?
Do you mean Gabby?
-
Reading some of the posts on here about peoples long treks to pay homage to the mighty Villa is very humbling and inspiring. I'm crossing everything and hoping for a big villa victory in honour of you guys. UTV
-
Had a dream last night, we went 1-0 down fairly early on but came back to win 2-1. Kodjia got the winner.
Should be a good day with 5700 of us. Bring it on.
-
Indeed, it is inspiring. This is what it's all about, Saturday 3 o'Clock going to support your team, whether they're any good or not. We are the antithesis of the horrible glory hunting dumbed down zombie hordes and we should be proud of it.
-
Is the 12 Tellers the general concensus for pre match beer????
-
Just got on the boat. Cup of tea and bacon sarnie (red sauce) incoming.
I'll have the same. Enjoy your trip.

No wins in 14 months away, only 15 goals scored in 24 games, if ever a fanbase ''deserved'' a win it is today.
-
No wins in 14 months away, only 15 goals scored in 24 games, if ever a fanbase ''deserved'' a win it is today.
...or the next one!
Just about to leave. Let's make it today Villa
-
Just passed the home of football and seen our first fellow villa fans. Travel to watch the Villa in the last week is over 1500 miles!
-
Already in Preston. A lot of Villa fans on the train, already on the ale.
-
Our away fans are magnificent. *bows in reverence* You all deserve a win today.
-
Is the 12 Tellers the general concensus for pre match beer????
I'm going there at 12. (after meeting my daughter for coffee). I'll be with my son so look for the tubby grey haired bloke with an away shirt on and grey coat. (matches the hair!). He'll be with a tall blonde youth!
-
5,700. Make some noise boys.
-
I have managed to be quoted as a PNE fan preview in 'i' today, having posted on PNE online this week!
It's pretty obvious I'might Villa from what I said - & the Villa badge as my avatar on the site!

Excellent will be dining @ 12:30 with my clan!

5,700. Make some noise boys.
That's superb. No other word for it. It's got me thinking about my last away trip. Leicester in 2006 at the then Walkers Stadium. Sat with my dearest dad in the Leicester end. Agbonlahor won it for us in a 3-2 win....
After the final whistle of possibly ET, my dad told everyone around us I was a Villa fan. Thankfully, nobody was too angry. Cheers dad.
Massive respect to those who go a lot more regularly than I do!
-
Was going to take my 9 and 14 year olds, but couldn't get the extra access.
Taking my youngest instead (3) and sitting in the family stand. His mums family are all PNE fans, so he should be happy whoever wins! Hopefully it will click today and I go back to liking RDM. If we don't win he needs his P45 handing to him as he gets on the team coach though, Preston are not very good and we really should be winning his one.
-
Wife has just dropped me off in town. Never seen it so busy. Full of villa fans! Excellent.
-
A superb turn-out again today from the Villa faithful. Let's just hope & pray they get a performance which matches the support for a change.
Let's AVit! ;)

I saw it, Amfy. And smiled. It's good to have loyal spies in the enemy camp. UtvV
-
Now parked up in Preston. Villa everywhere!
-
Today we WILL win.
-
I'm watching a bit of Swansea vs Liverpool and it has made me realize how shiny and high def the PL looks compared to the Championship. The coverage is just top notch. Everything is so much more aesthetically pleasing. For the most part I've watched our games this season through shit feeds and grainy highlights packages. Fuck me Villa, please get back up starting with a win today.
-
I do think we'll win today
Mind you, I was quite relaxed about barsnley's chances of equalising in the week
He's got some choices to make in attack today: ayew probably the only guaranteed starter, then it's two or three from five.
-
Think he's going to pop Gestede up front today with Kodjia and Ayew out wider.
-
Fucking Westwood is playing!! Ahead of Tshibola. Fuck sake!!
