Title: Why Lerner lost interest

A paragraph about the Villa right at the bottom, a load more about the Clash, the number eleven and the weather.

Cheers Dave, really enjoyed that. I've just this minute finished listening to him on Gary Crowley's Punk and New Wave show. Sounds like a great bloke.

I watched Foxcatcher last night and Lerner and John Du Pont are now merged in my mind.

And there was me thinking it was because he'd found one of his bank statements and noticed the decimal point moving inexorably to the left.

Literacy days over for you Dave?

Have to say a book by someone on Lerner's 10 years here would be very interesting stuff....

I think, Soccer HQ, unless you're trying to be particularly provocative, you meant to write 'literary' there!

Just when Villa are sucking the life out of me and I have avoided this forum for a while, I come back and find this. Fantastic stuff. I was at school with Dave Wakeling, but a few years below him. He put a few lines from our school song in a track called Ackee 1 2 3.

Memories of how Birmingham used to be, the Beat, the Clash and a passing mention of the mighty Villa it's about got it all. Never knew Wakeling was a Villa fan.

His band are playing the Robin this Friday and the Institute a week on Saturday. I've not been to the latter for many a year but the Robin is a fine venue and well worth a visit.

Just realised this is the Dave Wakeling I was at Bournville College with in 1972/3, when the lectures were starting to move from the Bournville site to what was the Polytechnic on the Bristol Rd. Safe to say he's done somewhat better than me over the last 40-odd years.

I was there in 73/74 and was there for that year as well.
