Very honest Dave, I hope Tony reads this as he might find it helpful.

I know it might be a blessing in disguise to be knocked out of a cup competition early as the championship is a long hard slog of a league but we really have to stop losing so often (an obvious statement as opposed to rocket science I must admit). But I am really, really sick and tired of being beaten. As every other fan is and as the players must be. Maybe we needed to make more changes in the summer. On paper we seem to have a decent side for this league but I suspect some of them are too 'damaged' and mentally weak. Can you imagine going to work every day and having a nightmare? You wouldn't be feeling too confident in yourself.

it was woeful , I started questioning in the spectrum of woeful where it stood , was I being melodramatic ?  No that was at the bottom of woeful

Echoing the sentiments of some other posters that there is not one single player from last season that I would be upset about losing, but what gets me is how does manager after manager think that by picking the same set of players over and over again is going to produce a winning team. Hopefully there will be some form of management discussion today or later in the week that finally shows the door to Richards, Okore, Hutton....infact anyone from last season.

"stop playing silly buggers on Twitter"

Exactly.  We're already seeing the start of the next Astonian version of fiddling whilst Rome burns.

I think that all managers, and professional sportsmen in general have a massive amount of self-confidence, they will nearly all think that they can get something out of a set of players that no-one else can. I hope its clear now.

Spot on reporting. Being knocked out of a cup so early and showing no fight or pride whatsoever against such low ranking opposition once again makes us a laughing stock. This game should have been a walkover and confidence builder to go on to better things. Instead I am dreading Rotherhams "Big day out" at  fortress Villa
