it is disgusting how train companies try to rip you off. Just not right. When you buy they should offer you the cheapest deal and not leave it to you to work out cost.
-
Ha, that brings back memories. As a kid I traveled up starting at Acocks Green and paid 6.50 for my return as the lady there told me she was splitting my journey up that way. My mates who started on the train at Solihull all paid around 20 quid. We then met up with one of teachers who was a Wednesday fan who drove us to the ground. One of my favourite away trips, plus a 1-0 win. Happy days.

I use this website https://www.splitticketing.com/ it breaks journeys into cheap day returns & also if possible it reserves the same seat for the whole journey

If anyone is going to the Bristol / south west area there is a cheap ticket available from Birmingham. PM me for details. Cross Country are trying to get it cancelled so it is not for publication.

You can try the Ticketty Split app too. I was in Torquay last week and brought tickets from New Steet to Cheltenham Spa then Cheltenham Spa to Torquay and saved £30 doing it. Same train, same seats it's pretty straightforward.

Sheffield the one boozer I know is the Howard, come out of station a 100 yards down on the right - hope its still there.
-
The Howard is still there apparently. Google football ground guides, there's loads of pubs.
-
I can confirm the Howard is open and there's lots of Villa here.😊
