Cheltenham Town have signed Aston Villa and England Under-18 defender Easah Suliman on loan until 2 January.

The 18-year-old can play at right-back, centre-half and in central midfield.

Born in Birmingham, Suliman signed a professional deal with Villa in January 2015 until 2017, but is yet to make a senior, competitive first-team appearance for the Championship club.

He has represented England since under-16 level and made 16 international appearances for the under-17 side.

Will be interesting to see how Suliman gets on.  He's seemed solid enough from what I've seen and the versatility he offers is perfect for a 'clubman' so would be good if he takes this chance to really develop.  Do any of you locals go to any cheltenham games?

I've only been to a few games. Twice I was in with visiting Hartlepool fans, one I was in with Plymouth. I think that I've only been to one game (v Swindon) in with the home fans.

Hopefully Suliman will play regularly for 'Nam. If he doesn't, he might as well play for Villa's U21s

From SKY Sports Transfer Centre

Fiorentina have signed Aston Villa midfielder Carlos Sanchez on a season-long loan.
The Serie A side also have the option to buy the 30-year-old Colombia international at the end of the campaign.
Sanchez scored one goal in 55 appearances for Villa and was part of the side that was relegated from the Premier League last term

He had more assists than anyone else at the club last season, apparently - which I think can only demonstrate that we did not score many goals because I'll be blowed if I remember him doing anything noteworthy.

This is almost three times the number of games (and around four times the number of starts) that Mathieu Berson had. I'd have thought that there appearance numbers would have been very similar.

Just goes to show the lack of impact that Veretout had

Henry Cowans has joined Stevenage on loan.

Cowans, son of legend Gordon and regular in the U23s, will head to The Lamex Stadium for five months until January 7.

Stevenage play in League 2 and are managed by Darren Sarll.

Cowans will come into contention for this weekend’s match at Grimsby on Saturday.

No player played any games last season.  2015/16 season did not occur. Any reports that Leicester won the league are equally spurious.

I'm not in denial. I just refuse to believe that we were as abject and spineless as we were.

A goal, MOTM and taken off injured in the 59th minute. If football was only played for 60 minutes a game, Carlos would be one of the greatest players in the world. I appreciate he never had a proper rest every summer what with international football but I'm struggling to think of a player whose performance dropped so low for the final 30 minutes of a game.

Good luck to him though. For 60 minutes a game he's a very good, technical player. Why he never scored headers like that goal yesterday whilst at Villa I'll never know.

Oh hang on.. of course, Westwood on corners.

It's also a canny investment with players' values seemingly increasing 10-15% (?) each summer.  That's better than Abramovich keeping the cash in a bank account, not to mention the loan fees they'd be receiving.

Was it only down to his own game or did he run out of steam trying to cover for other players defensively and having to complete more difficult passes later in the game as players stopped running into/creating space.  Perhaps we missed the obvious.

At the risk of sounding very judgemental, will many of them even give a f%%k, as long as whoever the latest Abramovich ego trip is, is not running the risk of a season outside the top 4 again.

Aston Villa have allowed goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini to return to Italy by loaning him to Serie A side Atalanta on an 18-month deal.

The former Manchester United reserve was a Roberto di Matteo signing this summer when he arrived from Italian second-tier side Hellas Verona for £4m.

"It came out of the blue last night," Villa boss Steve Bruce told BBC WM.

"We agreed a deal and it was done in a couple of hours and he's now gone off to Atalanta.
