Until I just looked on GoogleMaps, I had know idea that Hillsborough was so far out of town.
Any parking tips nearer the stadium ?
-
Yep miles away from the City Centre, makes Villa Park look like centre of town.
I am more concerned as to when tickets go on sale and the prices.
Parking is best towards the M6 towards Barnsley so in other words if you were coming from the city centre then keep going past the ground.
Always think of Hillsborough as an ancient model of Villa Park without the facades etc. - looks run down.
-
I reckon it will be £40-45 a ticket the robbing gets.
-
Fight back on...
OK wrong thread....
-
I reckon it will be £40-45 a ticket the robbing gets.
Think we are going to get ripped off right, left and centre regarding prices away from home.
-

I assume that I can make my arrangements without the worry of a detour to the Brum City Centre
-
It's one i'd like to do, so you're not allowed to make arrangements yet!
-
It's one i'd like to do, so you're not allowed to make arrangements yet!
Well I do have a birthday in August so maybe I will cheekily ask someone to get me a ticket for that!
-
Tickets will go on sale at the end of the week.
Last time I went there was a big car park on waste land, but we're talking 16 years ago now, so its likely been developed. Not sure if their tram system goes out that way.
-
The tram does run that way, from the train station you can either get off at Hillsborough which is about a 10 minute walk to the ground or change at Hillsborough and get another tram to Leppings Lane which is conveniently right by the away section.

Yeah best bet is to park in City centre as loads of good pubs and get the tram from West street.
Even parking at Meadowhall it's only about half an hour on the tram from there.
-
Have the tickets gone on sale yet?
-
Not yet. They want to charge us £52 and we've rightly told them to think again and to agree a reciprocal ticket deal.
-
£45 a joke
-
Is that what it's going to be? Premier League prices that, or rather would have been without the cap.
I hope we charge them £10 a ticket, but charge Wednesday £100k for the release of them.
-
Any links yet for the ticket details?
-
If them scruffy Yorkshire inbreds charge us anything like the figures shown then I hope the Villa have the bottle to provide reciprocal prices and add another £5 on.
How can you charge more for a lower standard of football? Sheffield Wednesday obviously live in a bubble.
-
The Wednesday site now says our match has been designated Cat. A, (Leeds is only cat B!). That's £52 for the best seat, and £45 behind the goal!. Hold on to your wallets!!.

Do that and you only penalise supporters.

On that subject, I just saw this on a Wednesday forum about their owner.
inherited a fortune from his Dad. He is no business genius.
All his key staff keep leaving or get sacked.
The new COO will be gone by Xmas.
he hasn't got a clue on pricing.
his treatment of the box holders and reneging on contracts is absolutely disgusting.
He made an inspired managerial appointment and threw some money at it. This is covering up the cracks.
if it starts going wrong on the pitch it will all fall apart.
-
Somebody fed Randy after midnight!
-
Unbelievable, I was thinking of going, but now, I will sit at home and watch the game on my telly
How can they justify this, I bet when they were in the play off final at Wembley, some of the tickets for that match did not cost £45!
-

Still a massive rip-off, but it's £42-49 their Cat. A range for this season.

Whilst I agree, I think bearing in mind it we've entered into dialogue with them to help both set's of supporters which looks like was not agreed to, it would be justifiable if we charged them our top price whatever that is.

Looks like the initial allocation is in the lower tier.
£42 for a second division game. Robbing twats.
-
That is steep, the £30 cap really should apply in the second level as well. We could have been watching us at The Emirates or Old Trafford for £12 less which is ridiculous.
-

It wouldn't be justifiable. Two wrongs don't make a right.
-
Wouldn't seem fair now if Wednesday got charged £25 at our place (what Rotherham are paying), when they've benefitted from increased revenue by what they've charged us.
Also, their owner would probably think he can continue to get away with ripping away fans off and ignore reciprocal price offerings, if there is no comeback for his club for their away games. If their fans start getting charged £42 at a few places they will likely ramp up the pressure on their owner.
-
The sort of owner who charges those prices isn't going to be too worried about their own fans having to pay over the odds.

Why penalise the Wednesday fans though? It's their shithouse of an owner and the board that are ripping fans off, I'm quite sure the massive majority of Wednesday fans wouldn't want us to be paying stupid money for second tier football so I hope we keep the prices for the return game nice and low for them.
-
They'll be paying £42 in the Kop to see us twat them don't forget.

Spot on. No need to be petty afterall is there?...

Id be keen to get hold of one ticket for this game (I'm away not week when they go on sale) so anyone who can oblige pls PM me.

I wouldn't worry, if they've allocated just over 2000 tickets it means we'll likely be in the Leppings Lane lower tier. If they sell out they'll probably start selling the upper tier (an extra 3700 tickets) which offer a better view anyway. If we shifted all those they also have the North West corner available for away fans (about 1500 tickets I think) so there's plenty of space.
Given Wednesday seem intent on squeezing every penny out of both home and away fans I can't see them stifling demand for the sake of it.

I wasn't suggesting that we charge them what they're charging us, just that if we are having our own catagory system, maybe Sheff Weds should be put in the top one, especially if we've tried to engage in dialogue with them. That said, we can't complain about clubs overcharging if we're going to do it as well.
-
Although tickets are supposed to be on sale, the website is saying that "This event isn't currently avaialable for sale"
Note the spelling of available.
Haven't been able to get through on the phone. Can't even get in a queue
-
It's now possible to buy on line.
Not sure if they've sorted out the phones
-
I just bought some Luton tickets, I was on hold for a minute or so but got it sorted pretty quickly.
-
Sold out. We are requesting more tickets. Why give us just 2k in the first place?
-
So even at £42.00 per adult ticket we sell out, fantastic support.
-
A Sheffield Wednesday fan I know reckons we'll get another 1000 in Upper tier and then 1500 Lower tier.
-
Did anyone doubt for a second we wouldn't sell out of that initial allocation?
I know I may be a mug but I didn't even think about not going to this even when I saw the price. Also decided to "treat" myself to a ticket for the Luton game as well. I bet Luton is like St Tropez in the Summer.😉
-
Sheffield Wednesday have now confirmed we can also have an additional 1,400 on top of the 1,101 released earlier today.
That makes an overall total of 4,544 for the Owls clash on Sunday August 7, kick-off 4.30pm.
-
i bet every other championship club will be watching 4,500 fans paying £42 a pop, and rubbing their hands.
-
I don't think they're allowed to charge more than they do home fans. So unless they're willing to fleece their own supporters, as Wednesday are, they shouldn't be able to milk us too much.
Exceptions will be Small Heath and, maybe, Wolves.
-
Clubs will already have set their price bands for the season so they might do the odd discount game but they're not going to suddenly put them up for one game.
Leeds will be £42, Derby £36, Brighton £32, Bristol City £30, so it will be more expensive overall than the Premier League this season for us.
I see Bristol City have U25s prices, so hopefully a few others will too - although I won't get away that!
-
If anybody has bought one today, do you know how many are left?
I've got my tickets, but I am trying to build up a third reference, so won't be able to get an additional ticket on that till Thursday and was wondering whether the're likely to last that far?
-
I have two spare references if anyone needs them?
-
Im after 2 tickets or references if anyone can help out ;) Thanks
-
Drop me a PM
-
20 minute queue for tickets on the phone this morning. Hoping that they're not all gone.
-
There was only 200 left yesterday morning according to the woman I spoke to, so I'm surprised that there's still any.
-
Just bought 3 at 9.05 in general sale, if anyone else is after any.
-
200-300 left to sell, apparently.
-
Just managed to bag the third and get the third account up and running. Under 200 left now, so I expect they'll be gone before lunch.
That's a brilliant following when you consider its on Sky, on Sunday and at £42.00 a go.

On the flip side, it's a famous old ground that many fans won't have ever been to, to watch Villa in a new division, with a new manager, and new players.
Had this game been in February, and if we don't smash the league, I'm not sure we'd sell 4,500 tickets.
-
We've got good away support and always have. If we can take thousands away when we're staring relegation in the face or we've already been relegated, then who knows?
Anyway, should be a good day.
-
Booked the Monday off. Gonna get completely bastard faced.
-
Booked the Monday off. Gonna get completely bastard faced.
I truly hope it's in celebration!!
-
Celebrating, after a football match? How does that work?
-
So have we just got the upper tier? Or do we have some of the lower tier or corner?
-
Celebrating, after a football match? How does that work?
You've got me on that one....
-
How can you have forgotten? When we KO it will only have been over 6 months since we last won a competitive game!
-
Maybe (no pun intended) we will be better under our new overlord. We were fucking shite throughout Cameron's spell as Prime Minister.
-
So have we just got the upper tier? Or do we have some of the lower tier or corner?
should be all the upper, and centre three sections or so, downstairs.
-

Congratulations by the way....probably more akin to cricket thread....your 40000 up!!!
-
*Raises bat and waggles it at everyone*
*Looks around for a cricket bat to raise as well*
-
Sad bastard.
Only 26,024 for me.
-
Now sold out.
-
Managed to purchase 2 last night online, have now sold out.
-
I've been informed that we are going away on holiday the week after next now,
so I could take 2/3 tickets if anyone has any going spare
-
Anyone not had their tickets yet? Bough them over a week ago now.
-
Don't think I've had mine though I haven't been home since the post arrived.

A couple of Banbury lads have suffered a car breakdown disaster so if anyone knows of a coach going up from the Oxon area please shout! Train times are shocking!
