Title: Would Chris Coleman make a good Villa manager?
Post by: Gregorys Boy on July 02, 2016, 11:24:33 AM
Always been a fan and his stock has just got higher these Euros.  Villa are a club/team who need rebuilding and Coleman has proven that he can do that.  Think he has just the right level of experience and having managed abroad also has that knowledge too.

Of course it won't happen for awhile because I think he wants to see how far he can take Wales.  But in a couple of years if he was an option would you take him?

I doubt it, but it seems a bit premature to discuss when we haven't even played a game under our new manager yet.

If is a big word. If my auntie had a pair of bollocks she would be my uncle. Were just starting out on a whole new venture. Lets give Roberto a bit of respect and get behind him and wait to see where he can take us. Speculating about his replacement before we have even played a game under his leadership is disrespectful, disloyal and pointless.... Welcome to the Villa Roberto. Overall we Villa fans are a hugely loyal and passionate fanbase that will back you to the hilt.

That's a great question Gregory. I reckon he wouldn't be as good as Mourinho, Wenger, Guardiola or Klinsmann but i'd wager he'd be better than Sherwood, Lambert, Cack, Taylor Swift or Boris Johnson.

I've always liked Chris Coleman's teeth.

I have nothing further to add.

Two previous club jobs in England and sacked by Fulham with his biggest achievement being a ninth place finish and sacked by Coventry after finishing 19th in the championship. I will settle for the bloke who has won the champions league with Chelsea and the league we are now in with Albion.

We should not be speculating about a replacement for our new manager. Its out of order imo.
However i do like Chris Colemans teeth.

Aren't there stories of him over revving it a bit whilst manager at Real Sociadad? Mind you san Sebastian is an amazing city so hard not to enjoy it.  Regardless, I've always thought he was a good manager.

Wasn't it Coleman that was expected to join us back in '95 from Palace, and because he didn't we put a newly signed Palace midfielder in as a CB instead?

We've already got a manager. Who has a more impressive CV than some flash in the pan Taffy.

Coleman wanted to join us. I think there was a quote to the effect of he'd walk to Villa Park to join us. He was a pretty solid CB from memory.

Gregory's Boy, you're so callow.
Confession. I had to look that up but your right.
I was thinking of Gregory's boy as one of these dyed in the wool gloom and doom merchants that we seem to attract but he's probably just callow. ;-)

Did I miss the thing that meant Jurgen Klinsmann was something more than a terribly mediocre manager with a pretty dismal record?

I apologise Dave. Clearly my input into this important topic hasn't stood up to closer scrutiny.

I have always been put off by his shifty eyes - always looks like he is keeping an eye out for the rozzers!
As a manager he seems average solid...

Children, children I go away for awhile and leave you to play and look what happens? ;)

Some fair points.  I rate Coleman much more than many of you.  Think he did a good job at Fulham (and by the way top 9 for a club like them is good, and boy wouldn't we take top 9 in the PL right now).  By all accounts he did pretty well abroad and has done an excellent job with Wales.

I am willing to give Roberto a go.  I don't think he is the right man for the job and I'm not convinced that we will get promotion under him, just my opinion.  But given the limited options he is a solid choice.  The Coleman thing was just a what if?....
