Title: 2015-16 Records broken this season
Post by: Legion on May 15, 2016, 06:29:48 PM
Finished the season with a total of 17 points. A club record-low, even when including seasons where it was two points for a win.

My only surprise is we didn't conceded 10 in a game.

A disgrace to the very name of our fine club.

I hope we remember this season for a long time. Not because it was fun but beacuse it marked a low point for us.

The notion that this might be our new "level" would be terrifying.

Until this season, the worst Villa team I'd seen was the talentless bunch of third-raters that got us relegated to the Third. This lot win the prize because, on paper at least, they were supposedly more talented.

But, led from the very top downwards they've exceeded every nadir.

Well done everyone. Except maybe the tea lady.

I sincerely hope that I will be able to refer to this season in the future when I am asked "where were you when you were shit?"

I just wonder where our level is at the moment. I haven't seen any championship games so i don't know if we're even at that level. We were bad before this season but we've made a massive drop this season.

What a truly shambolic mess this season has been.  The Grealish, Agbonlahor, Richards, Agbonlahor again, Lescott and Guzan antics.  The players not giving a shit, leading to the clubs relegation and the potential redundancy of their colleague's as a result of this.  Three woeful, underperforming Manager's, chosen by idiots, led by an idiot. Some of the results on the pitch, the defending, the goalkeeping, the lack of pattern of play.  The only way out of this mess is through a takeover.  Get rid of the crap, start again.

I am worried. The Championship has some very very bad teams in it but also now at least two teams who are (as of today) twice as good as ours.

Our starting point is very low, something else I blame Black for, we could be entering the Championship with a team thats been improving over the past few weeks and figuring out their new tempo & style as they try and gel.

Instead we enter with a worse performing team than we had even a few months ago.

Worrying.

Something to dine out on i reckon. 30 years from now you'll be able to larf at fans not yet born moaning at how shit we are and point out that "no actually we are not that shit. I remember 2015-16." and bask in the kudos.

I think the most damning thing for me this season is that this was the first season ever in my 35 years of actively supporting the Villa that I actually stopped caring about the results.

From about January onwards I just glanced at the result Sunday morning and then got on with my day.

Another record. We were ahead in games for a grand total of 243 minutes, an all time low. Well done lads.

Make that 42 years and its about spot on
MOTD / Sky really not bothered with at all

Very sad

I did however start watching some championship games and realised it is a dog fight that is poor on quality

And she is probably the only one who has been made redundant.

I have watched quite a few Championship games this year, not alot else to do in Duqm/ Oman and people who are saying the standard is not that brilliant they are quite right, but then what they have to balance out, is the quality of Villa this season, record after record broken for all the wrong reasons, disciplinary issues one after another, a obvious split in the dressing room that even up to today has not been addressed.A mind set where winning is not expected, but losing is acceptable.
We are already at least one day behind where we need to be and that is setting up a plan to attack and approach next season that will give us the best possible chance to come straight back up.
The Championship level is pretty shit, but then again so are we.

First season in over 30 years of going that I haven't seen us win.

To be fair, you only needed to miss 3 league games to achieve that.

Also, here's the top of the who-was-on-Match-of-the-Day-last table. I think I preferred it when we were mid-table mediocrity.

West Brom 8
Stoke 8
Bournemouth 7
Everton 7
Swansea 7
Aston Villa 6

Oh for the days when I'd come in half cut from the match and fall asleep whilst desperately trying to stay awake to watch our highlights.  Seems like an age ago.

You just made me realise that I don't think I watched MOTD at all this season. Which is a shame because it has meant I've largely missed out on the Leicester story. I saw that Drinkwater had got a call up to the England squad today and I didn't recognise him at all. I couldn't have even guessed who he was from his picture.

Only a small point (forgive the pun); but we when you consider we only finished with 17 points from 38 games and 3 of those points came from the first match of the season it means we only obtained 14 points from the remaining 37 games. A truly appalling statistic which really proves just what a poor squad and set up we have.

Newcastle fans much truly wonder how they were unable to score at Villa Park and pick up the 3 points (any team unable to score against us at Villa Park must feel truly ashamed as they leave the pitch.

In our games against the other 2 relegated clubs we picked up 5 points from the 12 available.

Against the top 6 teams we picked up 2 points from the 36 that were available.

If we had played Randy Lerners Cleveland Browns (at Cricket) then we might have got the draw!

After reading how exigo has not seen us win at all this season ,it made me think how lucky i have been .I have watched us in 10 games and i have seen us beat Notts County,Wycombe,Palace and Norwich.Considering we only won six in all that is pretty good

Looks like if the most-goals-conceded tally was over 42 games like every other season in that list and we'd still be averaging two a game there would have been only five worse seasons in the club's history.

Chico's post just underlines that this team really has been the worst performing in the club's history. I hope the players are proud of their efforts.

There's a killing for someone to produce "I was there"-type T-Shirts commemorating the train-crash of a season we've just witnessed.

The most glaring record of all must be for the number of f##ks not given by the 40 odd people associated with the first team squad this season.

That must be a galactic record.
