A point!
The renaissance has begun!
-
A sign of apathy. 20mins since final whistle and first post on post match thread.
Shite.
-
Boot. Big, fat, tear-streaked, pie-crumb-encrusted, ruddy-cheeked Geordie face. Forever.
-
Is this the new kettle thread?
-
We beat the Barcodes on away goals this season! How can they not deserve to go down with us?
-
Disgraceful from Black, some credit to the team for doggedly playing to his game plan.
Adama not brought on until right at the end and his run past a Newcastle defender before being fouled was our one moment of anything approaching enterprise in the whole game. Sums it all up I guess.
-
0 shots on target and still picked up the most irrelevant point ever. Excellent work clowns!!
-
Pretty dismal, but given it's possibly condemned Newcastle to relegation not so bad.
-
After so many attempts, I'd like to congratulate Eric Black on getting the result he's been striving for. Utter buffoon.
-
That's true as well, whilst I'm pleased we've possibly done for Newcastle, it was yet again a pathetic selection from Black.
-
Brilliant atmosphere. Not often you get the whole ground singing but the second half had everybody on their feet. The protest was brilliant I thought.
As for the game, meh. Neither side wanted to win. We defended well for a change with Clark probably our best player. Black is McLiesh mkII but never mind, it's almost over.
-
The big question is can we get to the all important 20 point mark?
-
A Point !!! Well done Eric you set out not to lose and you managed it.just
-
newcastle could not beat Aston Villa this season . How shit are they ?
-
The support today I thought was simply breathtaking.
-
newcastle could not beat Aston Villa this season . How shit are they ?
Second most shit team in the league would be my assessment.
-
Even Villa reserves beat Villa this season*
*I know that's not strictly speaking true but the press didn't let facts get in the way of a good story.
-
I hope our potential buyers were there to see how good our fans can be. Get the deal done.
-
Any Geordie banners visible?
-
Micky Quinn seems a tad upset on Talkshite about today.
I remember a few years him gloating about Coventry stopping us from winning the league.
-
I think today hints at how brilliant it would be if Villa had any hint of success. I know it's bitter, but I don't think Villa Park would need Andrea Bocelli if the team finished top of the pile.
-
I hate to go against the prevailing trend of positivity, but...
BOOOOOO!
-
I thought football was part of the entertainment industry. Ah well what do I know.
-
I thought football was part of the entertainment industry. Ah well what do I know.
Oh it is, see the modern football is rubbish thread. No one at B6 read the memo though.
-
Cracking day. Cracking atmosphere. Newcastle fans been giving it the big 'un for weeks about rubbing our noses in it yet their support was crap. They had no comeback second half. I said yesterday they would be shocked by the party atmosphere and they were.
-
Any Geordie banners visible?
No - but some very good Villa ones, I applaud their creators, and the unfurling of "SOB ON THE TYNE AGAIN" on full-time gave us the final laugh.
-
As others have said, the crowd was outstanding today.
However, on the pitch..no shots, no corners, no flair, and no idea.
-
Part of me is sad that the support was so good yet in response to something so awful. I understand the self mockery but it's still bittersweet.
-
Same-old on the pitch, but the atmosphere today was magnificent - a show of defiance against our current plight.
I told my two young sons to suck it all in because days like that don't happen very often. Had the hairs on the back of my neck standing up several times.
-
What an absolutely fantastic atmosphere! Newcastle missed a couple of sitters but were otherwise pretty poor. Pity Black didn't seem to think the fans should be rewarded with any entertainment. Five defenders and three defensive midfielders on the pitch while Gil, Grealish and Traore sit on the bench and, quelle surprise, not a single corner or a single shot on target in the entire game. Heard Black on WM on the way back and he was genuinely pleased that his plan to keep it at 0-0 worked as he didn't want the record of 12 consecutive defeats. Had he put some attacking intent we could of course have won. Hope he fucks off on the horse he rode in on, and the sooner the better
-
was a negative line up. Hutton on the right wing wtf?. However if we'd gone our usual 433 with Gil and co we would have lost.
maybe if we'd battled like that all season we could have drawn our way to 38points Pulis style?
Idrissa was great he really helped out Toner who had to mark Townsend.
-
Oh, forgot - also on WM on the way back heard that the Bloosers did indeed hire a plane with a banner saying 'Lerner is a Blues fan' circling round B6, but didn't see it. Wonder what it's like to be so all consumingly obsessed by something you hate
-
McLeish Black speaks. (http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/36238384)
-
Oh well, at least that's effectively relegated the black and white stripey twats as well. Sunderland now only need two points from two games to stay up, even if Newcastle beat Spurs in their final game.
-
Oh, credit to those with the inflatable cocks too.
-

I thought Gana was OK defensively, with his trademark interceptions and 'toe in' challenges.
However, when it comes to anything else a midfielder is supposed to do such as pass, run, carry the ball, or heading, he was as usual, totally gash.
-
Well Newcastle certainly put us all in our place.
Stunning the Villa park to silence as they seize survival at the very same seat of evil that cast them down years ago.
How many times have we seen the Holte End taken over en masse with the roar of Blaydon Races echoing all around?
Oh right. Never. Thats some Mags wet dream that actually didnt happen.
-
Well I was at the match and if the incoming manager (whoever it may be) saw the ammount of effort and hard work our players put in he would be thinking I have something to work with here. Gueye, Sanchez and even Sinclair of all people got stuck in and gave of their best. Hutton you expect this as normal but he lacks the ability to cross the thing properly. Jordan Ayew may work well with Gestede next season. I for one don't think the future will be as bleak as others make out.

You've said it though Ron, they gave it their best, but their best is plainly no where near good enough.
-

I think you are mistaken but I agree with you about Black.
Great atmosphere today, congratulations everyone.
Performance was good in my opinion apart from Westwood who looked inept and Hutton who was out classed.
The inflatables looked brilliant at the start of the game and on 74 mins
-
Oh, credit to those with the inflatable cocks too.
My nephew Luke took one of those! We were towards the back of the Holte and watched the cock make it's way down to just behind the goal. An infantile and most enjoyable thing to do.
Eric Black is a complete twat. No subs on a day where a little bit of flair could have won the game - just shows how devoid of any ambition the coaching staff were on a day when there was little to lose.
Great atmosphere and really noisy where we were. I love VP when it's like that.
-
Glum in Brum? They sure were.
-
Also great to see Gabby at the corner of the Trinity and Holte
-
Oh by the way, how shit are Newcastle. We had a chat to a couple of Geordies before the game and I Told them that if they couldn't beat us they deserve to go down. Going down with the Villa!
-
Thought the defence did well. Just very poor and lacking ideas going forward.
Good atmosphere. Got some free tickets so glad I didnt pay to see that.
No corners, no shots on target. Abysmal
Credit to us fans, we were great. Good sing song in the Tavern afterward.
I thought the Geordies were as poor as they were in 09 when we relegated them. No fight and no bottle. Worse than we are really. Their fans were also very subdued considering what was at stake.
Roll on lots of positive chnage at VP in the summer and some better footy next season
-

I think just cutting out 4-5 rotten apples will take us a long way right from the start. We've really got to do that to give the dressing room back to the management team (whoever that may be in June).
We've got enough quality to cope with the championship and I would expect us to buy 4-5 reasonable players to help us out. I just think one key aspect will be buying a proper leader.
-
Really enjoyed the atmosphere. Some Newcastle fans got a bit of a beating not far from me in North Upper.
Also I did see the blose message on the plane. Flew overhead a few times. Sad, sad bastards.

If that was their best then I dread to think what their worst might be as that was as bad as anything else I've seen this season.
No movement off the ball, inability to pass to each other, every pass that was completed seemingly inside and backwards, no idea of even trying to attack (did we have a shot)?
Only positives I think were Clark and Toner, and even Toner was played out of position.
And if Black's 35 years of football experience have taught him to play Bacuna as a right sided centre half, he has wasted those 35 years.
-
Oh, credit to those with the inflatable cocks too.
Thanks. I didn't make it to the game though.

Apparently it happened. I've fallen on my sword for the rest of you, and viewed the footage on the Mail site. It took place briefly either side of 3 o'clock, circling the ground at seemingly a radius and height which ensured that anyone that'd somehow caught sight of it and foolishly forgotten to bring their binoculars would be unable to share in its side-splitting mirth.

Maybe they've had enough too, it wouldn't surprise me.
-
Great atmosphere, awful game. Credit as always this season to the Holte end for showing what this club is truly about, rather than the overpaid clowns on the pitch.
Black is so infuriatingly negative, I half expected him to pull off his mask to reveal McLeish. The game was crying out for Adama to rip into the Newcastle defence for the last quarter of an hour, but the dimwhitted jock hasn't got the bottle to make the change.
Two funniest moments for me was obviously the topless fat bloke tormenting the steward with a beach ball in the lower Trinity corner near the Holte End (seen by many ), but also the chap in the Witton Lane stand seen disappearing down the exit carrying a blow up doll about twenty minutes from full time. Guess he'd decided to make his own entertainment.
-
Adams came on at the end? Been says it was Hip Ian Rush Murphy thingy.
-
Villa fans showed why they are Villa fans.
-

We kept a clean sheet. That'd be earning pizzas down at Leicester.

Adama Hepburn-Murphy?
-
Great atmosphere. As my son summed it up after the game, wonderfully enervating. We pose no attacking threat whatsoever. Toner impressed as a good solid lad who will not let us down. Eric Black in record time has got himself right in contention for the Person You Most Want To See The Back Of trophy.

It would take an entire evening just to hear the nominees.
-
on the pitch one of the worst excuses for a football game you will ever see
Off the pitch Villa fans were absolute class, the Holte was awesome today
I've been going up the Villa for over 40 years now, and it takes a lot for me to go over the top on our support, but today it was the full fuck me we are the best in the land
simply because the team have been so shit, we are down humiliated all over the country and at home virtually every week yet still we stand proud
Leeb on the match thread got it spot on when he said we have totally owned our relegation,
We have gone down in style off the pitch,
the away matches I have attended this year have been some of the most memorable I've ever been to, I'm not sure many other clubs would have done the same
Arsenal next week I can't wait, then hopefully we can begin the come back
-
That was shit.
-
That was shit.
You knew it was gonna be shit after you dropped your fanzines all over the floor, twice!
-

Exactly. The atmosphere was the best all season but there was no reward on the pitch and Black's tactics were unfathomable.
We weren't quite as poor as usual but they were poor too, though they had good chances at least.
Gana, Sanchez and Westwood created nothing as usual and Sinclair ran about but to no effect whatsoever.
I suspect they'll be the team that bounce straight back next season.
-

That's the one.
I blame a dodgy stream and clenched teeth. If that was Hepburn-M then he has acquired an impressive amount of muscle for a young lad. It was still the only bit of enterprise I saw from Villa all afternoon, and that from a tactical clock exhausting sub. Fuck off, Black.
You'll tell me now that he's actually only 9 stone; I blame a dodgy stream and clenched teeth.

US villa fans we were amazing, I love Aston Villa. we will keep this movement moving, eric the unready can fuck off at full time against arsenal, I spoke to Charlie AITKEN before the game and he qualified lerner is unable to accept any criticism and that is why Sir Mervin and Mr Berstene quit, lerner just wanted puppets, he can fuck off the buffoon , and on 74 minutes omg you were all Brilliant, I am proud to be one of your number.
-
I really enjoyed today despite the abysmal anti-football from Black. The atmosphere was tremendous.
-
The Villa fans showed class today, I was proud to be there
-
Shit team, great fans
Shit team, great fans
-
I really enjoyed today despite the abysmal anti-football from Black. The atmosphere was tremendous.
This is what Lerner and his lackeys never got - football is all about the fans - All it needed today was to show attacking intent with 20 minutes to go and the place would have gone into positive hyper-drive - but no the twat Black punished us for daring to question his 35 years experience. Well Eric I've coming to the Villa longer than that so I trump your shit experience and call you out as the dullard you show yourself to be.
We need to keep this level of commitment going into next season - all we need is a little on-pitch excitement.
Top day in a season of shit...
-
I came away from the game with my faith and hope restored. Nothing to do with the team's performance of course, but while there is so much love for our club in the stands it can never die.
And if there is the tiniest, tiniest crumb of comfort in this catastrophe of a season, it is taking those sulky, self-important tw*ts with us.

I know. He couldn't even get his Ace Frehley make up right.
-
That game was the antithesis of football. No skill, useful possession or attacking threat. Newcastle played like their season was over. I really wish he had thrown Traore on with 15 to go as if nothing else it would have given us a simple out ball.
I was in the upper Holte and the support was fantastic. It was strange because it was flat before the game and Newcastle fans were making loads of noise. Once we kicked off their support seemed overcome by nerves.
I spoke to a couple of Geordies after the game. They were pretty miffed at their players who showed an amazing lack of fight and desire to win. They reckon they have been shit all season, though I did point out they had no idea what truly shit looks like.
-
Villa fans were a class act today. Great atmosphere and dignity throughout. Respectful of those Villans departed this year. Supportive of the behind the scenes staff when thanks for their work was tannoyed. Always proud to be a Villa supporter but today was special.
Nufc fans anonymous. If we were still scrapping to avoid relegation the Villa fans would have been singing their hearts out. Game not up to much but it was sweet almost condemning the geordies with s'land winning. UTV....VTID

As someone on FB has pointed out, the main problem is that each word is in one single colour but then 'clowns' is in multi-colour. It ain't gonna win any graphic design awards.
-
Wasn't there, watched online. Commentators praised the home supporters numerous times. Talked about how difficult it must be for Lescott and Bacuna when they were being booed every time they touched the ball.
Newcastle had lots of chances to score and still couldn't even beat the worst Villa side in the last 30 years. We were lucky they were so bad in front of goal.
Noise and atmosphere came across brilliantly. The inflatables was a great idea, effective and not offensive or a danger to anyone, took the heat out of the situation but got a point across, that the majority of fans are not happy with what is happening to our great club.
Not a fan of Black and his tactics and team choices, he could/should have shown more attacking intent and we could have won the game, but so glad we didn't lose and have those Geordie twats gloating.
Made the hairs stand up, hearing VP at full voice singing VTID.
Congratulations to everyone who went today, made us proud to be Villa again.
-
Well on the plus side Villa fans are incredible.
We did the club proud today with fantastic support for Aston Villa.
We've also got just 1 game to go before the season ends.
Thats it then Mr Black. Your time is up.
Pathetic, negative, and weak. Thats your team selections that is.
Goodbye.
-
So glad i won't be seeing that villa team at villa park again.
-
The game had 0-0 written all over it from early on but it was enjoyable because the Villa fans made their own fun. Great support from all around the ground, well done to all. As others have said, it showed all and sundry, including possible new owners, what is possible down there.

Was that it? All the hissy fit foot stamping since 2009 and that's the best they could come up with?
I know there self absorbed oafs, a kind of Kayne West of football, but even I thought they'd come up with something better than that.
Many Jawdees in the Holte?
-
Black is as delusional as he is useless. He reckons the atmosphere was the fans responding to the team's efforts on the pitch. The atmosphere was awesome in spite of the shit he served up, not because of it.
-
All that Black had to do to diffuse the situation and reduce the stick he takes was to a) start RHM or someone else instead of Sinclair and b) not play Bacuna. He chose not to do either and then compounded the problem by not making any substitutions until bringing on RHM at the end. It almost seems that he's deliberately trying to piss the fans off
-
I really enjoyed today despite the abysmal anti-football from Black. The atmosphere was tremendous.
Yes. I suspect I could live to be 100 years old and never witness an irrelevant 0-0 with an atmosphere like that. It was quite moving.
I loathe the people who run our club, and have nothing but contempt for most of the players, but I love the Villa.
Post-match highlight: minibus full of Newcastle fans yelling abuse out of the window but driving in precisely the wrong direction. They're probably doing circuits of Wolvo right now
-
Black is as delusional as he is useless. He reckons the atmosphere was the fans responding to the team's efforts on the pitch. The atmosphere was awesome in spite of the shit he served up, not because of it.
Despite the fact that he was only a matter of yards away from me, what he heard and saw this afternoon appears to be completely different
-
Blacks just another in the long line of clueless numpties this club has employed over the last 5 years. He also needs to be fucked off ASAP.
-
Blacks just another in the long line of clueless numpties this club has employed over the last 5 years. He also needs to be fucked off ASAP.
Yes. His uselessness has been exposed. Another freeloader found out.
-
Yes too negative (are we wolves or everton in disguise) - we need a target man thats for sure and a goalie
Lescott is a complete dick but was outstanding today
Bacuna is a dick but was his abysmal self today
Villa crowd were fantastic (so were Newcastle up to half time) I honestly didn't realise the match had to be stopped at 74 mins and what were them extra 6 minutes for?
Really enjoyed my day though
-
Incredible, surreal atmosphere today.
The game itself came second-placed. I expected us to lose; not having a shot on target all day probably meant we deserved to.
Then hearing Sunderland had come from behind to beat Chelsea while Newcastle were the only Premier League team not to beat us this season produced much mirth.
Listening it small-minded geordies walking down Witton Lane with classics like "they don't have running water here", "well someone's got to live in Birmingham" and my personal favourite "Imagine a club who's entire season hangs on another club getting relegated" (It wasn't, but the world knew it'd wind yous up).

Lets be fair here, Kayne West actually has some talent.
Re: the banner. Why do I have the feeling the blokes pink marker ran out of ink so he went with multicoloured instead? :)

I'm really starting to dislike this delusional (sp?) idiot.
If he really believes that he needs to be told to fuck off, in no uncertain terms.
-
That is the worst team I've seen in 25 years.
Shambolic - Clueless - Gutless with very few exceptions on and off the pitch.
What was clear today is that We are Aston Villa, not the imbeciles that own and "run" the club.
The support was astounding, I went up the top of the Trinity (while I've still got the chance) and believe me the noise up there was incredible, great to see the bar codes silenced as well - obviously baffled by true support and passion, not some professional plastic "geordie" act. Yes boys - get back on your coaches - "You're going down with the Villa"
Great respect to all that made today a memorable occasion, especially the banners, "no sobbing on the Holte" and the inspired "Sob on the Tyne -Again".

-
Up to now I've defended Black as I thought he was on a hiding to nothing. Not now, playing for a 0-0 against a team as shit as us, when we are already doomed? fucking hell we we were boring.
Cowardly team selection, good riddance to him.
Enjoyed it mind.
-
The Geordies take themselves far too seriously, the self absorbed tossers. Utter mince support from them as their players bottle it like it's 2009.
Looking forward to going there on a Friday night next season.

Back handed compliment from Small Heath. Imagine it'd cost a fortune to pay for a fly-by. This is how much we mean to them.

Let's make sure this time 12 months we're rubbing their noses in the dirt.
They still seem to have overlooked that the worst Villa team for generations beat the earlier in the season.
-
Full roll of dishonour:
Notts County, small heath, Wycombe, Newcastle United: The only sides that we didn't lose to this season.
small heath: The only side we had a 100% win record against in 90 mins.
-
Thought the protest march before the game was fantastic. Well done those who organised it.
-
Could not watch the game on tv, due to tv cock up, but listened to Talk Sport commentary, as has been stated, shit team great support. Every Villa fan at Villa Park yesterday showed what it is to be a Villa fan and as one banner put it perfectly, "It is not the name on the back of the shirt, but the badge on the front".
Also can the Benefits Agency look into how many benefits were used for that plane and stop paying the 6 fingered in breds.

Which one's the doll?
I just love his expression as he tosses it. His cap with bare chest look is pure class. Well played son, well played.
He sits a few seats away from me.
He is like that most games, whatever the weather.

Pretty dismal, but given it's possibly condemned Newcastle to relegation not so bad.
Is the right answer

What is it about our dour Scottish managers McShit, Lamberk and Cack coming out after games where we've had 0 shots on target and saying we've played fantastically? Daily Heil readers are terrified of refugees coming into the country. I'm fucking terrified of Scottish managers coming South of the border.

It was important that we don't lose the match as we still need to contribute to the integrity of the League. Newcastle were expected to win this as all pundits regarded the Villa match as their 3 point banker. I was pleased that we denied them and more pleased that Sunderland won. The most vociferous Villa supporters around us turned out be my Sunderland mate in middle upper North. He also, like others have mentioned, absolutely admired our supporters and the atmosphere.
Another highlight of the day was meeting Brian Green and his two "little lads" at the Bartons!
-
Thanks Olaftab, the pleasure was entirely ours. Your Makems mate's story about his family being bombed so many times during the war that the dad in the army did not know where to write to them was an epic.

I hear Mickey Quinn lost it with a Villa fan, post match on Talksport.
Good.

Waking up after not losing is a wonderful feeling, it really is.

Another Villa hating prick, probably gained during his Coventry days.

I did a little video on the 74th minute too. What an outstanding effort from our Supporters yesterday, especially in face of another dour, soulless offering from Black & the players.

I couldn't make it yesterday and although it doesn't sound like I missed much on the pitch, it sounds like I missed a heel of an atmosphere. I saw the line up before the game and groaned, a typical Eric Black starting 11. Still, it's hopefully sent Newcastle down with us.

Its the air of nonchalance. The attitude of, "yes, I do this every day. I throw a blow up sex doll into a crowd of football fans. Its just who I am"**

Aftab, as you know my nephew sits near you. He said there were 4 Newcastle fans sat up there who made themselves known and were led out by stewards but got a beating on their way out. A bit daft.

I'm sorry but I thought the c u next tuesday sign was an absolute disgrace. It wasn't a very dignified way for a protest to be conducted but I can't say i'm surprised.

I have had a few messages today from mates who support other clubs and they were all very impressed by our support yesterday. Well done to those who coordinated the protests as it helped turn what could have been a damp squib into a party occasion. The best atmosphere I have seen at Villa Park this season and once again people up and down the country are aware of the depth of feeling we have for the club - we could have been completely ignored once relegation was confirmed.

Think ayew's nod was saying goodbye to villa park..shame ..with a decent manager and players around him I think he could have developed into a cracking player..

I can't say I'm without sin in that respect so this is a bit hypocritical but the proliferation of 'that' word in modern discourse probably isn't a good thing.

I think he will develop into a cracking player - sadly probably for West Ham, Tottenham or someone like that. Ayew and Benteke together would have been something special.

They thought they'd turn up yesterday and have a right laugh at us. It was going to be their redemption.
But it wasn't as we were in party mode and then their day turned to shit, much to our amusement.
As for Ayew, I thought he looked annoyed in the video, like he was cross with us!!

Adama not brought on until right at the end and his run past a Newcastle defender before being fouled was our one moment of anything approaching enterprise in the whole game. Sums it all up I guess.
I think you are mistaken but I agree with you about Black.
Great atmosphere today, congratulations everyone.
Performance was good in my opinion apart from Westwood who looked inept and Hutton who was out classed.
The inflatables looked brilliant at the start of the game and on 74 mins
Was Hepburn-Murphy
EDIT: Sorry, just noticed correction elsewhere

The match wasn't up to much; but I wouldn't have missed it for anything. I'm still smiling and watching the beach balls, over and again. It was great to see the whole stadium getting involved, great support. The only thing good about the club at the moment, is the fans.
Would love to know what Ayew, was thinking when he stood there watching it.
Maybe there could be a insert the caption competition.

Weird isn't it. We will look back on yesterday as an historic afternoon. Like the 2-1 defeat against Bolton when we decided we'd had enough of McLeish.

The end of he season seemed to have been greeted with total indifference at Manchester City today for a team about to finish third. Compare that to the noise generated by the Holte yesterday and I'm proud to be associated with fellow supporters who would appear to forgive this sorry team almost anything in exchange for a few decent performances. Like others, I'm glad I attended what was a show of support for the club, and for each other, not the players. I hope the Premiership misses us because if it doesn't, then it's not worth being there anyway.
-
Boo Hoo (http://www.themag.co.uk/2016/05/aston-villa-fans-just-dont-get-newcastle-united/)
Translation: For years we've been sulking like children because a couple of blokes made banners, we've been bigging up for weeks how this game would be 'revenge' or 'karma', we were giving it large outside about how it was a nailed on win which would make us safe and now we're blubbing because the Villa peed on our chips.

No, they are so far up themselves it's beyond parody.

Agreed, I think they were hoping to get one over on us but their taste for revenge backfired due to their own team's utter lack of fight.
There was a young Geordie woman on Witton lane after the game in a very aggressive mood shouting " where's your party then you c#*ts?" The police nearby were observing and waiting in case she incited anything but nothing happened whilst I was passing. She was the exception, as most just seemed resigned to their fate.
-
I've never met a soul who gives a fuck about Newcastle United, why would they? A team from the other end of the country with their own rivalries. It's a few bedsheets, a bit of fun in an otherwise completely forgettable few seasons.
Fuck off, we really don't care that much if your stay up, go down, whatever. Self-important blubbing twats.
-
Boo Hoo (http://www.themag.co.uk/2016/05/aston-villa-fans-just-dont-get-newcastle-united/)
I spoke to two Newcastle fans on the walk back up past Aston Hall, one was very amiable, discussing the game, complaining about Newcastle not bothering to even try and win the game.
The other probably wrote this article, would only talk about how sad the banner and our fans were for celebrating a 0-0. When I pointed out we've lost 11 on the bounce up til now and are only on 16 points, his only reaction was still to talk about the banners and inflatables.

How seriously does the whopper want to take himself and "his city". And he wonders why we take the piss.

i played football yesterday Pat and mentioned the banners in the Holte to a Geordie supporting mate whilst trying not to take the piss too much. He laughed and said fair play to the villa fans for the support.

Anyone follow Micky Quinn on Twitter? Called is his favourite pib team. My brother said 'a pub team that you can't beat, see yiu next season'. His reply, 'that's you blocked'. Bellend.
-
Fat boy Quinn represents everything that is bad about punditry and talksh-te.
He's got his wish.. At least one of his team's will be playing Villa next season, the geordies
and not cov city as he hoped. Sad fat phuker!!!!
-
The support yesterday was awesome.
More an act of defiance. The first team is rubbish. The owner is rubbish.
But not the Fans.
-
Newcastle just don't get it. Brummies are masters of self-deprecation and piss-take, and there's a very good reason why that is. The whole country has taken the piss out of us for 200 years. And this season, it's been Villa that's been the butt of all the jokes. We are going to give it back.

I had a fine old time on Saturday. Them getting so pissy made it far funnier.

I don't know, I couldn't see it from where I was sat. But ffs, the bloke she stabbed to death has family, doesn't matter which footy team he supported. If that's your sense of humour, or banter or whatever you want to call it, then take a look in the mirror

I'd have expected Brummie humour to have come up with something funny, but all they did was fly over an insulting message to the very bloke Villa fans have been having a go at themselves the last few months.
-
We should never stoop to their depths. i know that this isn't anywhere close to a Tracy Andrews-related response, however we have more class than that.
Six points and a promotion would be infinitely more effective.
-
The only plane I'd fly over St Andrews is a crop duster.
-
Was annoyed with the negative line up, was annoyed with another poor performance, but the clean sheet was a nice surprise, and at least things haven't been AS bad the last couple of weeks is all you can say. Plus its always fun to have an impact on the scrap at the bottom when you can no longer impact your own fortures. Now lets just let this season drift away...

i'd be up for flying a plane over Scott's house in chelmsley with a banner saying: you're a piss-taking 'nose and you're banned from h&v. If that was proved to be the case.
I'd say it was sad but hardly made fun of a murder.

Newcastle had the piss taken out of them by the supporters of a team that has won just three league matches all season and went into the game on an eleven match losing streak. That takes some doing. Does he really need to add to the pleasure by showing how much it hurt?

Next season, we've got a few tasty local derbies, but I suspect that the fixture involving our biggest geographical distance will be as lively as any of them. Bring it on.

Other than Fulham, are there any grounds that are in decent areas? Ours is probably one of the better ones.
Gay Meadow, Shropshire countryside, mad old boy in a coracle, collecting stray clearances from the River Severn......
erm, just realised, they don't play there any more
Chelsea
Never heard of that before but saw the Shrewsbury coracle at the national football museum on the weekend.

Scott's lack of class marks him as a 'nose more than a photo of a wrinkly dangling bollocks tattoo on his forehead posted on here could ever do.
Cheerio sad heathen. We'll see you when you 'take' the Holte next season.
my names not scott nor do I support small heath, we all love villa we show it in different ways, as we are all individuals. I have been told not to mention t.a and have to respect the decision of the people running the forum.
Well you already have mentioned her - so if you had even a smidgen of decency, you'd beg the Mods to remove your cretinous suggestion.
-
What will scott's next post on here be about? % of villa fans v small heathens, broken down by Birmingham postcodes? A discussion about the sheer quality of the blue pitch side perimeter at the sty? Or, a desperate plea for directions to Sherlock St? We can only guess. It's bound to be riveting though, whatever the topic.

I've no idea why you keep bringing her up, you're making yourself look a bit silly really.

I don't sing Tracy Andrews songs, has nothing to do with who I support, it's because i'm not a twat.

I can't remember the last time I heard it anyway. It's rare that it's sung nowadays.

Do we? When was the last time we did pray tell?
Maybe it's just where you're sat? Which part of the ground is that by the way?

scott's a Villa "lad" by the look of it - I didn't think he's a Bloser
-
An illiterate Buffoon is what you are.
edit: not you Witton
-
He's really lowered the tone of this place whoever he 'supports'.
-
The only plane I'd fly over St Andrews is a crop duster.
I'd prefer a crap duster.

sheer class, Scott, making light of one of your own that, sadly, died. You are a sorry excuse for a human being. I've got some plasters for the scrapes on your knuckles if you need them.

You don't have to worry about him any more.

We sent them Agent Ridgewell, but Lee Hendrie retired years ago without playing for them.

I'm working in Newcastle today and the consensus is that their team created its own mess. There isn't any real bitterness or animosity directed at Villa.
I wish the local papers in Brum covered the Villa with half the clarity and honesty of the Newcastle Chronicle.
-
My friend who used to play No 9 for Newcastle told me of a Europa tie he once played in somewhere in southern Europe on a ground which had three stands but the one goal was about four feet from the vertical face of a cliff. Shots off target immediately rebounded into play.

Have a Google of Braga's ground.
Sounds like (a slightly embellished version) of that.
It is a corker of a ground though.

They had a collection the sad bastards. I wouldn't put 1p towards something like it. Their shitty little piss pot club just don't mean anything to me. Twats.
-
Thanks for that Dave, sounds as though it could be the ground.
-
I had a flick through Toon Forum earlier. It was all going well and I see Malandro from here popped on for a sensible discussion. Then some of them gor all anti Villa and a Blues fan pretending to be one of us signed up to slag our support.
I would cheerfully sign up for a chat myself but think reasoned debate, peppered with a touch of "bantz", would explode the mind of some of the hard of thinking that crawled out when a Villa fan reared their head.
-
Just been reading that the reason Newcastle were as bad as us on Saturday was due to the beach balls ........... it never allowed them to get into their stride
What a laugh ....... we can use them against next year when they come down
-
IIRC, Carlisle looked out on to a picturesque vista and from memory York City was in a nice spot. All been a long time ago though so could be wrong.
-
Darlington back in the day featured a stroll through the local cricket clubs ground to get to the football ground. Don't know if it's still the same.
-
The combination of the last two posts has reminded me of watching York v Darlington at Bootham Crescent as a student at law school. While Deano and Dalian were tearing the inaugural Premier League new ones I was enduring the direst match I've ever seen - worse than a home game at Villa Park this season.

I loved Feethams, sadly the ground is derelict now but think the cricket ground is still there. One of the funniest things I saw was when Sheffield Wednesday played at Feethams in an FA Cup replay and they brought a massive following so were also given half of the Tin Shed (kop end), I was stood with my dad down the side and the Darlo supporters were singing "come and have a go if you think you're hard enough". We could see the Wednesday support thinning out as a load of them simply walked round the back and charged into the startled Darlo support.
Even made the national news as the match was delayed, Darlo won 1-0 with a 30 yarder into the top corner which resulted in yet another pitch invasion. The strangest thing about the night was seeing the half time score from Villa Park, the board said 5-1 but I assumed it was a mistake.

Most of Feethams has gone now but they still use the back of one of the stands as a sight screen for the cricket.
For picturesque football grounds you'd be hard pushed to beat Fort Williams Claggan Park, it sits at the foot of Ben Nevis.

Yeah, Darlington moved to a stupidly big 25k seater stadium on the edge of town, that contributed to end of the club (in it's original incarnation). The club was relegated 7 leagues, and as such had to ground share with Bishop Auckland. The club is now well on the up again, after getting 3 promotions in 4 seasons, and talk is they're moving back to Darlington (again on the edge of town, but in a much nicer location) at some point next season. As others have said, Feethams is now gone (apart from the cricket club), and the likelyhood is, the land will be used for building new houses.

Didn't they used to have that mad fella in charge? Reynolds was it? convicted safe cracker. Or have I got the wrong club

That's the one, George Reynolds. Very dodgy character, who went to jail for breaking in to safes. He ended up setting up a kitchen business, and made a fortune, before buying Darlington. He came with ambitions of taking Darlington the Premier League (you may recall a farcical attempt to sign Tino Asprilla), and left them in administration. Ended up being found guilty of tax evasion.
-
Isn't it Reynolds that has a pathological hatred of one of our previous managers? John Gregory I think, or am I yapping up the wrong Redwood?

I have only been to Brunton Park Carisle once, back in the 70s but i remember being able to see either sheep or cattle grazing in a field behind the goal during stoppages in play.I have no idea if it is still the same, but it is the most scenic ground i can recall visiting
-
DS, I think it was the Darlo boss at the time who clearly disliked JG.
Ex-'pool player, can't remember his name, though.

Thanks dcd. I can't remember who it was either. I know there was a lot of bad feeling between them for whatever reason.
-
David Hodgson? Didn't JG piss him off with comments after the FAC game?
-
Ta, PWS, that's the guy.
I got the impression they didn't get on before the match, either.

"Freezing cold with sheep shit in your back garden." Stan Bowles on Carlisle.

Was talking to my mate and his son yesterday.
They were playing golf at Hilltop course, by the baggies ground, the Saturday we played Newcastle.
They stopped play for a short while as they could hear a distant noise. They realised that it was coming from Villa Park 'Villa 'till i die' and 'You're coming down with the Villa' were clearly heard.
Pretty impressive!
