Title: New kit
Post by: pauliewalnuts on May 03, 2016, 10:43:05 PM
Anyone have any idea when we get to see this?

Does our Quickbooks sponsorship run through next season?

Is it Under Arm or whatever they're called making it?

Isn't it kind of annoying that having finally ditched Macron, producer of lower league kits, we've actually sunk into the lower leagues?

Supplementary question ... how long till that bloke from VillaTalk who only ever comes here to post his mock ups of new kits turns up and posts his first mock ups of possible new kits?

I'm going with June 1st.

I expect Marshall to come out with something by late May. And it better not include a yellow away top.

He'll definitely do a diagonal stripe one for the away kit.

Black socks, claret and blue trim if the shirt is claret body and blue sleeves. Looks best imo.

Best kit in recent years ^

Also I don't see why the shirt shouldn't be changed from time to time. Some of our best kits were not claret body/blue sleeves.

Post by: Toronto Villa on May 04, 2016, 02:00:29 PM
When you have a kit with one or two colours but with no defined style then you can change it up a bit. However us and Arsenal as another example have very specific styles and it wouldn't be right in my opinion to mess with it. Claret body, blue sleeves at home. Away and third kits can be tinkered with.

Arsenal change theirs all the time and have had some nice ones that weren't traditional Arsenal. And:

They're both terrible. Claret shirts, blue sleeves. That's what we wear. Arsenal only changed their kit as it was an anniversary year or last season at Highbury or something like that.

I'm trying.

Honestly I'm really, really trying to give one solitary godforsaken, desiccated fuck about next years shirt.

Nope, I can't find a solitary one to give.

It really doesn't matter.

Does it?

Well you say that but this season is the first time in 25-30 years that my dad and I have not bought each other a shirt for our September birthdays. I am extremely superstitious, as is he, and I felt uncomfortable without one early doors. I have to hold my hand up and admit that the problems at Villa this season are actually down to me and not the curious course of action that has masqueraded as a season. Sorry. I'll get one next season.

I must admit to feeling the same, and for the first time in god knows how long, I won't bother with buying one this summer.
Whether its an age thing, or whether its because the last few seasons have sucked all of the interest out of me I don't know.

I've renewed my season ticket.

I've always quite liked Barry Davies as a commentator, but I remember being seriously wound up by him saying in one match (I think it was in the EUFA Cup) "Aston Villa in the maroon shirts" - was it that kit ?

My understanding is that the Club are getting the players to play in "skins" ...two reasons being that supporters have advised they are not fit to wear the shirt and second it is a cost saving measure in that no change kit will be needed

We should get Blue shirts and white shorts for next season in honour of the team that is pride of the midlands, like all the clubs that copied us back in the day when we used to be good.

Actually, maybe let me have a rethink on that...

Predictions for the new kit.

The Claret will be too dark, too plum and pretty much right all at the same time.
The Blue will be too pale, too sky blue and too baby blue. It will also have been absolutely nailed.
The socks will be wrong because they are/aren't black, don't look like the ones from 79-81 or are and aren't hooped.

The fit of the shirts will be too tight, too fitted or too loose.

The kit as a whole will be shit. It will also be OK, not bad and pretty good.
Sometimes it will also be f##king crap and absolutely wank compared to anything produced by Nike and Adidas.

One thing it will definitely be is sobering to see it adorned with The Championship logos.
