Happy birthday to the man who last won the FA Cup for us.
-
Happy birthday Mr McParland...one of my first Villa heroes.
-
To my eternal shame it was a Nose acquaintance who reminded me it was his birthday. :-[
-
Happy Birthday. I started going down the Villa in 65 so missed him by about 3 years.
-
Happy Birthday Peter. A special hero to a young boy.
-
A few years before my time (born in 1957) but I was brought up on that FA Cup win, so always aware of him.
Happy Birthday Peter McParland.
-
Mac the Knife. Happy birthday.
-
The greatest post war Villa player without any doubt. I still have my star badge that my dad bought for me outside the Hollte Hotel.
-
And he still has to put-up with watching us alongside Jack Woodward for company on occasion. Let the man be.
-
Happy birthday Mr McParland, our FA cup winner!
-
Happy Birthday to a Villa gent.
-
Also one of my first real Villa heroes, along with Gerry Hitchens. Happy birthday Peter.

I have always idolized him from the very first game he played.
I had never met him in the flesh. About five years ago my son lost his car keys in the North Stand car park. We crawled around for what seemed like hours hunting the keys. This very erect man my own age asked if he could help search. We said much appreciated. The guy said "are these the keys?" handing them to my son. For the first time we actually looked at him. It was Peter McParland.
Happy Birthday Peter and many of them.

My first hero, my first game was a win against Ipswich in 1959. He was quick, strong and scored, I was heart broken when he left us. Happy birthday Peter.

Happy Birthday Peter

A superstar before there were superstars. Happy birthday, Sir.
-
He'd been gone from Villa Park for 8 years and was winding down his career in Ireland by the time I was born.
And he was still one of the first Villa players I knew anything about, other than the 78-79 squad. It was the dad and granddad of a school mate that started taking me with them. The granddad would pass the journey from Smethwick to Villa Park talking mainly about McParland, Johnny Dixon and Charlie Aitken.

Happy birthday Peter.

The first man to score in and win both domestic cup finals, I think? Happy Birthday to a genuine "great".

A bright light in a very dark time.

We have been blessed with some fabulous players. In 1951 Johnny Dixon, our inside left, scored 28 goals, Tommy Thompson scored 14 from inside right, Billy Goffin on the wing scored 10 and our centre forward Dave Walsh got 8 (I think) in half a season with us. It really puts our current pathetic efforts in perspective.
