Title: Who will buy us?
Post by: godzvilla on April 18, 2016, 09:25:57 PM
In an effort to look on the bright side of the latest debacle ( re the´ possible´ Takeover)  , I scoured  past news feeds and  this article from last August reveals that we  were almost taken over by a Swiss consortium ( owners of Herta Berlin ) , could it be they are back in again ?:...Godzvilla!

I wouldn't get your hopes up. I suspect it was said to lessen the blow of the resignations.

Karen Brady backed by O'Sullivan & Gold. Villa Park to get sold when Birmingham build a brand new stadium for the commonwealth games in 2022.

When you see West Ham in fifth and the way they managed to pick up a national stadium complete with security, transport and heated towel rails thrown in for peanuts, I would take that in a heartbeat.

Agree, but its a rip off. Brady and her tory mates have carved up a real good deal. For them

Couple of lines in the article are disappointing. "Seeking fresh funding to revive the bid" Does not sound like money is pouring out of their pockets and "Hertha Berlin" Not exactly a success story in Budesliga.

The way things are going, it will be a consortium of Carson Yeung, the Venkys and Vincent Tan!

2+2=5 I believe so with these resignations of Bernstein & King I gotta say it stinks of a Chinese takeover

I agree.

The high profile resignations are paving the way for a takeover.

I just hope it is someone that can...

A) run a successful business

B) make the correct director and managerial appointments

and C) get us back to where we belong in the shortest possible time.

He also needs an oil barrell full of disposable cash that he wants to put to the cause.

I really have to stop mixing my tablets with booze!

IF (and it's a very big IF) it's these Dalian Wanda lot then that will be very nice thank you, but I suspect it's people getting carried away with wishful thinking.

I posted this a week ago...maybe the author of the  article in question knew more than he was letting on ?.

What other takeover of any football club recently has seen high profile members of the board depart before the deal is complete?

It makes no sense whatsoever. The takeover is a smokescreen or in Randys parlance baloney.

I agree, I think the wording of their resignation letters would be very different if it was due to an upcoming takeover.

Come on guys, it's a smoke screen, that's all it is....
We're in for a stormy ride and things are going to get worse not better...
We now know Letner is still control after yesterday's resignations and that means more bad decisions by the bucket loads...

Now that Cleveland law firm Squire Patton Boggs are handling the sale (Lerner used them when buying us), I'm guessing Asia is the target. They also were used by Sheff. Weds and Fulham.

got to agree

the resignation letters say it all. they wanted to make changes, someone else didnt and so they left

talk of a take over is just that - talk

just relegated with a loss of 27 million and the majority of players not good enough/not giving a shit hardly makes us an attractive proposition

still at least we have a new badge

If he is selling cheap then it is a good medium term investment. Get us back up and you have a far more valuable asset on your hands.

and you have a far more valuable asset on your hands.

But thats the unknown. What will it cost to do that, and will the increase in the asset offset that cost, particularly given the state of the financial accounts. Horrific

There was interest at £150m. If we are now going for half, it shouldn't take £75m to get us promoted.

I think Lidl will buy us at a basement bargain price.

I would be extremely dubious about anyone who waited for us to drop out of the top flight before completing a purchase.

We would be in Mandaric or the nutter at Leeds territory.

Mind you, Lerner could well eclipse that pair.  Appointing himself DoF and King Penguin simultaneously.

Your thinking is right but it hasn't worked that way at other clubs who've dropped.
