Can't find the LC first leg, so just the 11 goals to watch rather than all 13.

Remember going to all 3 games.
Standing at the top of the Holte.
I bought the home top as well that year, wish I still had it now.
Good times

Another one of those inconvenient truths the tossers are very good at pretending never happened.

Brought along a couple of noses from work to the second leg. I remember commenting to them beforehand that even given our first leg lead, it wasn't a foregone conclusion, and should they score early it'd make things a bit tense. Iirc, wasn't it mere moments before the nerve-settling first went in?
I enjoyed that evening.

I went to all three, although I remember having a bad feeling we would be complacent after the League Cup ties and they would nick the Simod Cup game. Instead we nicked it by six on my eighteenth birthday. I have the 5-0 and 6-0 games on videos I got from the club shop.

Shame we haven't had a video recorder for about eight years.

All Villa's goals were offside. Even the penalty. Come to think of it all penalties are offside.

You can't be offside in possession of the ball.

I know, I know....I shouldn't encourage him.

I beg to differ: these days players aren't flagged offside UNTIL they are in possession of the ball. Or haven't you noticed?

They're behind the ball when the play starts.

I'm another that went to all three of these games.

I seem to remember Garry Thompson skying a chance from a yard out at the Holte in one of these games. We were so dominant that everyone just laughed.

I am another that is pleased to say i went to all three games .The two games at Villa Park were so easy and one sided that Bernie Gallacher  even scored ,what must have been his only goal at senior level .

Was that not Andy Gray junior who missed that chance? I thought Garry Thompson had left for Watford by that time.

I remember that Andy Gray smashing one through Tony Goddens' legs from 20 yards in the away game. Can't seem to find footage of that game.

And the game where Gray missed the chance from a yard was against Ipswich in LC.. i think we won 6-2, Platt scored 4 for Villa, some fella called Dalian Atkinson scored a couple for Ipswich.

I didn't go to the Ipswich game, but I can vividly remember my brother raving about Atkinson, saying he was like a young John Barnes.

Bouncing ball and AG jnr tried to bury the ball into the Holte End stand through the net. No keeper around. He caught it wrongly and it skimmed off the top of the side of the boat and sailed over from 1 yard out. i think we were 4 or 5 up at the time though so he got away with it. plus seemingly no cameras otherwise Rosenthal would never be number 1 worst miss.

Does anyone remember him doing the same in front of the North Stand the season before, against Dirty Leeds?
