I have a 100% win ratio at Villa Park this season, 3 points guaranteed - tickets still available 😄

It's not looking good is it? Don't know if I can stomach the sight of a load of gloating cockneys.I wonder if Gabby will be in the stands showing his support for the lads? I was thinking about Leicesters season. I don't think there is much more talent in their squad than ours. The big difference being is they care. Our players don't care. Still I'll be in the boozer soon so a good few bevvies will hopefully make the match no more than a blurr on my memory.

I hope we stick a few of the kids in for this one, Ltden and Green deserve a crack over the other lazy showers of shit we employ.

Perhaps we will get the "new manager bounce" that we never had when Remi came, doubt it though, 1-4 Chelsea.

I'm beginning to think Westwood must have Jedi powers which he uses to play mind tricks on whoever happens to be manager.  Richards at centre back?

So Black has the chance to shake things up a bit, make his own mark, nothing to lose etc. instead he picks the same old dross, including Richards at centre half ffs!
Title: Re: Aston Villa v Chelsea Match Thread
Post by: achilles on April 02, 2016, 12:10:11 PM
It has been proved numerous times that Richards at centre back is a disaster, so what does Mr Black do plays him at centre back!
Doesn't anything change at Villa Park?

Title: Re: Aston Villa v Chelsea Match Thread
Post by: Villafirst on April 02, 2016, 12:18:16 PM
No Adama, not even on the bench. It's obviously the wages and appearances issue. Black had the chance to play some of the younger players but sticks with the same old failures. No change there then.

Post by: brontebilly on April 02, 2016, 12:18:47 PM
Horrendous team, I wouldn't mind if none of the back five ever played for the club again. Surely we need to start the likes of Grealish, Sinclair and try and get some width next to Just head.

I was going to leave work early to watch this on the telly. Seeing that team, I might as well get the last two hours at double time. So, in essence, I can't even be bothered to go to my living room to watch the Villa any more. How low we've sunk etc.

I see they're taking Brian's advice....not. Zero imagination with that line up. The board needs to ship the whole useless bunch out of the club including Black.

No Adama, not even on the bench. It's obviously the wages and appearances issue.

What appearances issue? In the event of him making half a dozen appearances in the league we have to pay Barcelona another £10 million? More likely he's still not fit or got a paper cut reading the programme.

I know our French manager didn't exactly work out but to me that's typical of the kind of lineup a "proper"" British manager tends to go for (see also K McDonald, T Sherwood).  I guess this is our future.

more a replacement for Flabby or Weimann, better than both of those to be fair

back five a rabble, getting no protection from a woeful narrow midfield, Gil powder puff and useless, front two have been decent enough

Gueye is another one, can get past a player but the backbone of a snail, walking back routinely

Sanchez is another one that needs to be f*cked off at the earliest, his legs move in slow motion

Vertout and Grealish for Gil and Sanchez I reckon

I just can't fathom how playing 4-3-3 with no width is going to work with Gestede in the team.

I'd try something like this:

Hutton Okore Clark Cissokho
Gil Gana Veretout Sinclair
Ayew Gestede

Just keep it tight in the middle, bang it out wide, then launch crosses for Gestede.

That's all sides need to do, as we make things so easy for them.  We don't pressurise them and gift them goals, so they can just ho through the motions.

Can we just please see a bit of attacking intent now the game has gone.  Take one of Westwood or Sanchez off and bring Grealish on, and take Gil off and bring sinclair on to add a bit of pace.

Not world beaters by any means, but there is only so much of Richards and Lescott a man can take.

those 2 should never play for the club again, neither of them trying a leg again today

not sure what has happened Guzan over past 18 months but he is woeful, Bunn is probably worse though

I really don't understand why no subs have been made

What's the point? I wonder why we even bother to show up. Wouldn't it just be easier to forfeit every match 3-0? It would probably be better for our goal difference than actually playing.

If every one of this squad isn't sold or moth-balled come the summer, the 'new' board will have failed. They can see exactly the same as us.

Not good enough.
Wrong attitude.
Wrong application.

They are at the wrong club.

As much as we can all agree that the leadership at the club has been laughable, it seems like at long, long last the attitude of the players is finally being challenged. Here on the TV commentary, in a few other online media bits and pieces and earlier on Soccer Saturday.

It doesn't mean much in the end I suppose, but I'm glad these leeches are being called out a little bit.

Look at that last Chelsea break from our penalty appeal.

If we're attacking, there will be gaps. That is unavoidable.

But look how long it took for other players to funnel back even close to position. Just trotting back like this is Walsall in pre season and they don't want to pull a hamstring. Workshy set of absolute cxnts.
