Title: Who will go down with us?
Post by: anton hillman on March 05, 2016, 09:40:18 PM
Picking up on a feature in today's Times and accepting that we are doomed.. Who will join us in the championship? (miracles excepted  and we stay up)

Norwich for sure. Sky will make a wankfest of the fight between Sunderland and Newcastle.

Don't care.

Newcastle and Norwich. If the bottom 4 weren't so woeful i'd be worried if I was a Palace fan, they haven't won in the league since before Christmas.

Seems to me the media have almost forgotten two other teams will be relegated. Please let one of them be Newcastle.

Us relegating Newcastle in our final home game would cheer me up quite a bit. Especially as they apparently don't bother with things like relegation clauses, even for the players they signed in Jan. Nice wage bill to have in Division 2.

Who cares?

It will matter from the perspective of our willingness to invest in order  to get us back up... Will we compete with Newcastle etc on the spending front?

Are we competing with them now?

Norwich look cooked.

Newcastle don't have the fight of Sunderland, but could well sack that bottling cock they have in charge in time to save themselves.

I wanted Allardyce  before Garde was appointed merely for the fact that he gets the best out of mediocre players, I think Sunderland will stay up just because of him.

Have we got such clauses?

Yes, although I doubt longer-serving players such as Gabby have them.

Today will crush Palace. They have decent players but they are starting to make stupid mistakes to compound their general poor form. They could make a late run for one of the two remaining spots.

Gabby only signed a new deal in 2014, so I would imagine the only player without one would be N'Zogbia.

Newcastle remind me of us last season, better squad than the other 3 down there, but being badly managed. Still think they'll scrape 17th, leaving it inevitably as Sunderland 18th and Norwich 19th coming with us.

Haven't been to a league game for about four years (jealous, right?) but I'm contemplating getting a ticket for the Newcastle game, just on the off-chance that they go down that day, as it was so much bloody fun the last time.

It'd be great fun if they have to beat us on the last day to stay up and we win our fourth match of the season to take them with us.

On current form, you'd have to say Newcastle and Norwich - plus Sunderland have got the Big Sam Factor.

Hard to say when we don't know if Newcastle will appoint a new manager. If they get a bounce, that'll probably be enough to keep them up.

Yes it would but with our lot you just know they'd put in a half arsed effort and roll over fr the Barcodes.  Just another shit sandwich for the fans to eat.

Had 606 on in the car last night and they were talking about their losing streak...."even Villa have won in that time"

Think it's two from three, impossible to call at this stage I'd say. Palace probably only need one more win and you'd think they'd get that eventually.

I'd just like to point out we don't play Newcastle last day of the season, it's our last home game. Our last game is Arsenal away. Kind of apt as the first game of the bright new dawn under Randy was also Arsenal away.

Think it will be Norwich and probably Newcastle. Sunderland have two things in their favour - Fat Sam and Defoe. Newcastle may give McClaren another couple of weeks and make their decision depending  on the outcome of the Sunderland game - Sunderland haven't got a game next weekend so even if Newcastle lose at Leicester they'll be no further behind Sunderland.  If they bin him earlier I think the pendulum swings in their favour

Norwich and Newcastle

Norwhich can't defend and not enough upfront , Newcastle again can't defend ( no suprises there if you followed Mclarens Derby last season ) and just look to have as almost as bad as attitude on the pitch as our shower of shit

What a way to come full circle. It would be nice to take the barcodes down with us though the week before. That would be hilarious.
