So for all the moaning about them Bacuna, Gabby and Lescott start again.  Just shows you how generally poor this squad is.

Realistically what line up could he have picked which wouldn't have led to people saying its a crap line up? The message from the manager is that before Liverpool this side or similar combinations didn't do too bad. So he was never going to make too many changes.

Don't forget Garde had been saying in the week that some players are not showing commitment so he picks the same players
Unless we are wrong about the players we think arnt bothered

The message is you can be as uncommitted as you like on the pitch and in training and still keep your place in the team surely. You cannot criticise players the way he has and then pick them the next day and expect to see a response. I'll be amazed, pleasantly amazed if this is anything other than being played off the park.

At least he acknowledged it and apologised, so you'd think he might try and make up for it.

Can't say I overly optimistic about today's result. The whole bloody club seems to be in such a mess. It's hard to believe and take it really. There just seems to be no love lost between the players and fans. Both groups just seem to hate each other. Never known anything like it.

Post by: SamTheMouse on February 27, 2016, 02:28:13 PM
The problem is, Garde doesn't really have much choice. The only other thing he can do is pitch in the kids, but this is not the kind of situation where you want to be giving youngsters their first taste of action. I can see how it might actually harm their development.
We're down anyway, so let the useless wasters who have got us into this position earn their wages and take the criticism until the end of the season.

Bacuna? Westwood? Agbonlahor?

No thank you. I refuse to support such appalling choices.

I've,on this single team selection, after the Liverpool debacle, felt my first genuine pang of annoyance with Garde. Why comment on the players being uncommitted, or unaffected by the severity of the current situation, then continue to pick them? Crap, Remi. You've made a rod for your own back.

There is no chance with that bunch of useless fuckers. I thought 2-1 us. I'm going 3-0 Stoke.

Gil's so frustrating. When he's on the right he makes such a song and dance about cutting inside onto his left foot that there's time for him to be surrounded by defenders and when he's on the left he darts infield onto the right foot that he can't use.

I think we all know that the familiar Alamo scenario is little over 20 minutes away, where one of the silly yellow cards becomes red and we lose 2 or 3 nil.

Stoke look as if they thought all they had to do was show up and we would crumble.
Gueye has been scrapping well in midfield, superb saving tackle from Okore at one stage. Veretout looking lively but can do more.
Hutton is limited but having a committed player is better than that clown Richards.

I think we all accept some of them lack quality, but the lack of commitment and effort is unforgivable.Add to that,we are mentally brittle to the point of collapse upon conceding.

We get it in the stands,it's not all your fault and the majority are physically trying, but adversity seems to be suffocating. How did they make it amongst all the other kids...with drive, determination and a belief in themselves.Could we just try and find a dose.

Let's see Andre please Remi...maybe it'll stroke a little positivity

Any sign that Garde is awake on the touchline?

I don't think he knows what to do

Remi has to take some blame here You don't out players for not having any commitment and then start them two days later

If you are going to call players out for lack of effort on the pitch and in training you then punish them by dropping them. Not send them back out again. This is another balls up.

Agreed. But what options does he have? the squad is threadbare of any quality This isnt an occasion for throwing in lots of kids, the odd one maybe, but not in great numbers

Stick the kids on, we've done this narrative of the game repeatedly this season.
Try something else, just something else please between now and the end of the season.

Remi called them out and we've seen today - second half heads down, no fight.

I don't think there's anything he can do.

This club was heading unstoppably down when he rocked up.

Too many players not up to it or not caring.

We want him out
Randy Lerner out
We just don't think you understand
From European nights
To relegation fights
We want Randy Lerner out

Lerner wants out as well, there's just no one to buy a piss poor club that will be in the Championship next season, when the price will be even less than it's worth now.

Everton are a much better run club

He has been hung out to dry. It's a mess and it's not his fault.

Drop the players he's called in to question rather than hide behind them. Take centre stage, say this isnt acceptable, and put in players who want to play first team football for Aston Villa. I don't care if they are 16 years old or whatever, I am not spending another bloody minute watching this shambles. You are the manager, take the responsibility for the starting 11 and do the best you can do with what you have, if we have toxic players, keep them as far away from the team as possible.

How is having Bacuna on the pitch of any use to us? He doesn't want to be here, he doesn't give a shit, he's contributing nothing, he makes basic errors because he's not switched on but it's an easy play to let them all continue and just blame the players. They don't have to play, we select them.
