Title: Is tonight the night i stopped caring ???
Post by: chid on February 15, 2016, 08:00:57 PM
called in the local after work tonight (Stafford area ) ,after yesterday I expected stick , which I got from the moment I walked in .
the assembled dickheads consisted of 2 spuds fans (known as pinky and perky , never go and only watch on tv if it dosent upset their drinking at weekends !) 1 wallsall fan (known as Gobby Neil ( I went crewe on Saturday you know !) about 5 stoke fans( all ideas above their station ) , 3 shit fans , 1 Chelsea fan .
After the initial pisstake , I just thought " they are all right , we are shit , and couldn't even be bothered to banter back.
I never thought I would get to this in my local , couldn't even argue with any off them .
its got so bad I couldn't care what happens , I'm 48 and have been going for years .
Randy and co you've made me not care anymore - THANKS .
I hate everything about villa at the moment,
from top to bottom its rotten ,
Chid

The villa are like my kids
I love them when there good and I love them when there bad
You just never know what is around the corner I was there as a 9 yr old when we went into the 3rd division but if someone would of shown me a crystal ball of our next 11-12 years then wouldn't we all of put up with it

I'm hurting at the moment so much like all of our army of fans but the club has taken me to the highest of highs and a few crap years won't break or diminish any love I have for this club

My colleagues either have no interest in football, have a bit of a soft spot for Villa because I support them or take it easy it easy on me out of pity. I'm realise I'm quite lucky.

I had to drop my car off at the garage which is near the boss who kindly gave me a lift in. He supports Liverpool and gave me a ribbing, not too much though, I think he generally felt sorry for the club and fans.

Most people today have mentioned it and have had a little tease but have said the same thing in that it's a shame a club like Villa surrendered so easily.

I had a blue try taking the piss yesterday, asked him how they got on at home to Bournemouth last season, what was their result was against Liverpool in the cup, how did they get on at VP earlier in the season and where is Sherlock Street. Still not heard back from him. Fuck agreeing with them etc, i'm Villa, they're not, they can go fuck themselves.

I work in an office of about 100 people in the jewellery quarter and I have never overheard people talking  about football, not once in four months . Although I have seen one bloke wearing a Middlesborough shirt once.

It has been a marvellous refuge from football misery for me.

I've posted the Bing Crosby version of this before, but this rendering by a Big Fat Ron impersonator swings.

"Is Tonight The Night I Stopped Caring?" sounds like the title of a Smiths song.

To the OP

The fact that you came on here to do something you don't do very often tells me you care very deeply but its actually hurting like mad.

Your not alone

If it was a single piss poor year then anger would be my overriding emotion

As it has been a continual rapid decline for the last 4 years at least I have almost become numb to it all.

I treat them still though like my missus, my kids and my city. I can be as disparaging about them as I like but no other fucker can, especially any dog shitters, faux sky football fans of the "money teams" and Bitters

Losing miserably previously would mean the whole weekend was shit and the missus would advise kids to "be nice "to Dad. Now I am almost bored by it all. I hope above anything else our relegation is a catalyst for regeneration, sale and a march back

It IS the hope that gets you as the reality could be a very long wait  :(

I can't stand the stuff. Always gives me a headache.

Oh.

I thought this was the 'Is tonight the night I stopped Carling?' thread.

I think the same sort of thing has been said before by other posters but for me Villa is family and you stick with family through thick and thin. Lerner's reign sadly is a low spot in our long and illustrious history.  One day the good times will be back and Lerner will be forgotten.
UTV.

the problem with the 'ive stop caring because we are shit' thing is it suggests that you only support a team when they are errr........ not shit

this is why so many people are supporters of the top rich clubs because there is a better chance of them winning stuff and not being shit for long spells

if you cant support your team through thick and thin then maybe you arnt a loyal supporter after all

I can see where Chid is coming from  , unfortunately I have a lot of stoke supporting mates, and I get my fair share of stick and have done for years . I still get stick , but it's mainly sympathy now as it's obvious to other fans just what a mess the club is in . Years ago any leg pulling of banter was fine as I could defend myself and the club , now it's a non event because we can't really argue as we are garbage . As for calling it a day ... I'll always be a Villa fan no matter what . It's just the fun factor has vanished and when you get the piss taking in the pub or at work you just accept it . Or hope for the sympathy vote .

It's pity here too...though it's only now I'm realising how well 'got' Villa are among the outsiders.
