Title: Robin Russell
Post by: Risso on February 15, 2016, 11:27:05 AM
Keeping an eye out for the accounts on Companies House as they're due by the 29th, I notice that Robin Russell the FD resigned last Thursday.  Possible reasons:

Start of cost-cutting?
Blamed for presiding over several years of financial chaos?
Hollis going to be hands on and so no need for two senior financial people?

LOL

None of the others were accounts. Robin Russell probably left to get a job in a sector he has an interest in.

Rearrange these words to make a coherent sentence:  Sinking. Rats.  Leaving. Ship.  A.

Show my ignorance here Dave W , but accounts are accounts, figures and such like, why a sector he has an interest in??

A bit of a sardonic comment because has no interest in football and attended as few games as possible, and then on sufferance. That's why I doubt our position had any bearing on his departure.

Ahh he is the same as Fox, Lerner, Reilly and Almstadt (whatever) then, sure he is not going to get another job with such like minded people as he has here.

I don't know, but he's been a director since March 2010.

Sorry I don't see anything wrong here. This is normal and last guy was there for 9 years  which is pretty good in terms of job stability.

That's like saying why watch football and not rugby - they're both games with balls and such like.

There can be a whole host of reasons why someone might leave a job for another job in the same discipline - pay, career prospects, moving house, interest in what the company actually does, etc, etc.

I wouldn't necessarily read too much in to Russell leaving.  We're in the mess we're in because the last five years have been spent preparing the club for relegation.  There can't be much Russell knows about what's coming that isn't blindingly obvious to all of us.

As I lay in bed last night following our utter capitulation I thought the only way this can possibly get any worse is if Robin Russell wraps his bangers in

That would make for an interesting interview.  "So, tell me about these comments on social media then."

"I'll see myself out."

Don't worry, I'm sure they'd give you the job first then have to pay you off after.

You wouldn't get through the CV sifting process anyway. Qualified accountant? We don't do those. We're the Villa and we only appoint those who are woefully under-qualified for role to which they are assigned.

Robin Russell was probably the one man who was good at his job. He had no interest in football, but a mind like a calculator.

I was going to use Lescott's phone was in my pocket excuse. What I actually meant to type was Mr Lerner has done a fine job and it would be a pleasure to work for him.
