Title: What Would You Expect in a new owner or what do we need in a new Owner
Post by: FarEastVilla on February 14, 2016, 07:41:57 PM
Given our current plight and future plight ;

What type of Chairman would you want to run our club (Given the choice).

Would you want a money bags chairman as Man City or Chelsea and all that is associated with such clubs ?

Would you want a club that held its own in the top tier and relied on local youth and talent with a moderate amount of spending by the owner ?

Would you want an owner that was hands on or one that would delegate effectively

Would you want an Owner that engaged EX Villa men to work with and understood the true nature and being of our great club ?

At the moment it seems that beggars can't be choosers , but who would you really want or what type of traits/character would you like to see in a new owner .

(Be careful what you wish for )  ;)

They'd have to have ambition and a plan to execute it.

We've had money under Lerner but the lack of a coherent strategy beyond the "just trust Martin" and "let's cling on" has not served us well.

More than 3 wins in 26 games would be a start.

I would like Monica Belucci to inherit the Sultan of Brunei's money then appoint a board of Jamie Lee Curtis, plus the contents of the fit birds over 40 thread. They would then instigate a media-heavy promotion campaign with fan meet-and-greets and champagne dinners at the Belfry and the Holte Suite.

They would appoint Pep Guardiola and half of the Barcelona squad to keep the football side ticking over until we get back on our feet.

If they appoint that board they can sod the football!

A decent strategy and at least a 5 year plan to get us out of the mess  we are in.

Not an awful risk in taking us on, we have the facilities, the fan base,  decent enough commuter belt.

Not looking for a Mr Villa although it might be nice, but someone who can waive a magic wand and get us out of this crap.

No-one is mad enough to buy us currently. Our only long term hope is to get in senior management who can downsize us to a level where our losses are not unduly a concern to Lerner and are then allowed take some some control of managerial/transfer decisions as opposed to the current power vacuum. A club run on a sell to buy policy with the (hopefully) larger attendances/merchandising than rivals in the  championship should be able to mount a promotion challenge on a relative shoestring. The problem is fooling Lerner into letting it run itself from here and of course him appointing a non-yesman in the first place. Once up in the premiership, you'd hope someone would come in. In that case, i'd take anyone, bar Ellis, risdale and Yeung

We need Christopher Nolan to reboot us, as today was clearly our 'Batman and Robin' moment where we officially became a laughing stock. We'd have to find a role for Michael Caine but it would be worth it.

I don't want to cause an endless quotathon but please note that I am not getting "pissy" (indeed, I am being polite and jovial) about grammar or typos. I was asking a poster if he could make the effort to write using proper punctuation (which is a very different thing).

As for the relative importance of my request compared to the 0-6 annihilation of Aston Villa Football Club today, please be advised that I am a competent multi-tasker and am keeping my Randy Lerner wrath-o-meter on full power while posting on this subject. I can also post correctly from my phone.

What we need from a new owner, in no particular order: 1)Top class football industry contacts 2)Hunger and ambition to grow Villa to its full potential and the genuine desire to make the Club a major trophy winning force 3) A plan drawn up by people who know what they are doing and 4) The finances to implement said plan at every single stage.

Sweary is cathartic at times, and Christ knows following villa the last few years requires either therapy, or cathartic release. Regardless of nationality Lerner is one stupid, useless motherf*cker, in the parlance of his native land.

An owner that understands what is required to run a PL football club. Doesn't need to be a football man because there are lots of very good owners and chairman without specific football knowledge. Ultimately be a good leader by employing excellent people in key positions required for the business. This isn't a football comment but a requisite of all successful businesses.

Genius.

A couple I disagree with there.

Sullivan and Gold: If you put aside their association with the Blues (and even then I would argue that they left them in a far better state than they bought them), we could do with is owner/s who have the contacts and chutzpah to pull off deals that benefit the club, like the one for the Olympic Stadium.

Pete Winkelman: I can't stand what the MK Dons stand for, but you have to admire the entrepreneurship of someone who has built a stable, moderately successful club where previously there was nothing.

We should be careful what we wish for.

We could end up with an owner who completely destroyed us as a competitive force, oversaw 8-0 away and 6-0 home defeats, all our best players leaving and being knocked out of a two legged cup semi-final by a 4th Division team.

Oh...

I want Bono now, a real hate figure we could all get behind.

The team could get on with being crap with no hassle.

One man in the name of Villa.

We still haven't found what we're looking for that's for sure.

Fuck me, the club is going to hell in a handcart and people are getting pissy over grammar on here and typos. I post mainly from my phone so FFS this is all a bit unnecessary isn't it?
I don't want to cause an endless quotathon but please note that I am not getting "pissy" (indeed, I am being polite and jovial) about grammar or typos. I was asking a poster if he could make the effort to write using proper punctuation (which is a very different thing).

As for the relative importance of my request compared to the 0-6 annihilation of Aston Villa Football Club today, please be advised that I am a competent multi-tasker and am keeping my Randy Lerner wrath-o-meter on full power while posting on this subject. I can also post correctly from my phone.
I missed the joviality, quite possibly due to my dark mood after yesterdays result. My Randy Wrath-o-meter, overloaded and melted down yesterday some time around 7, so I apologise for the short tone of my post.

No need Locko. But ta! Let the love flow as Randy fiddles.
