Black day at Villa Park. Think this pushed Sir Brian over the edge:

Great night. I was only 13 then....great team. As for the Coventry defeat, awful. Moldovan...

We beat Leicester in the cup this weekend last year. Sherwood in the stands......a lot has happened in a miserable year for Aston Villa eh.

I recall a 2-1 Valentines day defeat at Middlesbrough in 1988 in the 2nd division which was screened live on TV - we conceded 2 late goals, god that was depressing >:(

I've hated Tony Mowbray ever since that day. Bloody wheels fell off after that game as well, we were cruising till then.

I was only 13 then. I remember getting back from the match, locking myself in my bedroom playing Football Manager and played All Saints "Never Ever" on loop all evening.

One of my all time favourite away trips, if not Villa games full stop. We deserved to win that night, it would have been an injustice if we had not got through on aggregate.

Yes, I went to that one, with an Arsenal supporter mate, sat in the North Bank. A great performance indeed, we were really unlucky to find ourselves 2-0 down, and I think if we'd scored first we'd have given them a hiding.

I remember this evening well - I'd been with Mrs Castlefields for just 3 weeks and I was living on my own in Bromsgrove at the time. Although I'd advised her there was an important game on for me that night, she still came all the way from Stafford to my house and cooked us a romantic dinner - then at 7.30pm I announced I was going to put the match on (thinking "this is the first BIG test - but I'm not missing it) - fully expecting her to put her coat on and go home - she proceeded not only to say "it's ok - you watch your game" she also did all the washing up and came in to watch the second half with me.
20 years later, (and married for the last 12 and living up here in Stafford) she doesn't really know an offside from a goal kick, and I think at times she struggles with my obsession about all things B6 related, but we're still together !
