Title: Aston Villa v Crystal Palace Pre-Match Thread
Post by: Legion on January 09, 2016, 06:11:22 PM
I'm boycotting this game as a protest against everything Villa-related. Lerner out. Fox out. Garde out. Doris the tea-lady out.

Not really. It's a school night and full-time is well past my bedtime.

4-0 Home win.

It's coming against Leicester, that Bolton moment. The crowd will be too small, it will be too cold and drab for too much anger.

Half five kick off against Leicester though...

Depends on which Palace turn up.

If it's a crap Palace we might get a draw. If it's a half decent one we may as well forget it!

They will never get it and even if they do they will still be crap, even Richards. He talks a good game on Twitter but he's as crap and clueless as the rest of them. Palace have been excellent away from home under Pardew and this will be their easiest away game all season.

Might scrape a draw, but Pardew likes beating us so gone for another loss.

They are a good team, have got width, pace, decent midfielders pulling the strings.

They have pace up front and a class player pulling the strings in Cabeye. That'll be way to much for us to cope with.

Score draw. Actually no, 3-1 loss after we play half-decent for a period, fail to capitalise and then get undone at the back.

More moodiness brewing here, before it gets really 'orrible against Leicester.

Same here straight from Manchester, Those videos from yesterday will be a turning point, expect however many are there will be behind the team to show those moronic few are not representative of the majority. We are in this together, it's horrible, it's depressing and it's saddening but it's still the Villa.

It will be Palace's easiest win of the season, they will coast it - probably 2-0. Now the crowd have turned on the most fragile set of professional players I have ever seen, there's absolutely no chance of us pulling a shock result out of the fire.

Can't see anything other than the obvious result here. Think we'll attempt to produce some sort of attacking threat as we have to, which will play perfectly into how Palace play away from home.

Comfortable 3-1 win to Palace with Ayew getting a consolation.

Four fornicholl, that's the spirit as, I have to say that as you always think Villa are going to win and, law of averages, sooner or later you will be right but, very much doubt it will be anytime soon.

Holte123 - sadly not only do I speak Italian, so no night school for me but, I also have a season ticket and, foolishly, also signed up for the cup scheme!! What a first class idiot I am!!

One big positive though, I need to catch up on some sleep so, won't be long after kick off that our Villa "players", and I use that term loosely, will bore me to sleep again!!

First of all: apologies for showing some faith in Westwood for the cup game.... so sorry, wont happen again.....  :-[

I was surprised that CP have only scored 7 more league goals than us ( tho' they have let in 18 less as well...)

Still, not expecting anything new against CP... but who knows? (yep, we do)

Counter attacking, decent at set pieces, very solid at the back - I've lost count of the amount of teams like this we've been comfortably beaten by at home over the last few years. First goal should be very important, they're obviously most likely to get it.

Richards Okore Lescott Cissokho

Lots of CP fans moaning about Clattenburg being the ref, let's hope it ends up being with good reason.

Subs: Pugh, Pugh, Barney McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibble and Grub. Oh and Gabby

Counter attacking with a lot of pace out wide.  Sounds like a disaster if Richardson and 'the wanderer'  Richards are the full-backs.  Still hoping against all reason that we can win the next two and at least give ourselves hope.

when the replacements are the likes of Cissokho, Bunn, Flabby and Sinclair does it really matter?

Palace are a hardy crew down the middle, they could pulverise us physically tomorrow night without Sanchez particularly

Id bring back in Flabby for JustHead for a small bit of extra mobility but it could be our worst lineup for the season tomorrow night. Getting Richards away down the right might be our best bet of creating something

------------Guzan
Richards, Okore, Clark, Cissokho
----Veretout, Westwood, Rico
--------Gil, Flabby, Ayew

Today was the day Flabby finally blocked me on Instagram. I take it my joke about his mate opening a new bar didn't go down too well. ;)

1-1. 94th minute heart breaker after Guzan miskicks a routine clearance into Westwoods face and it flys in the top corner...

I'm hoping Guzan isn't in the team. Or playing silly buggers on the bench for that matter.

I think he will continue with Guzan, I went to Wycombe and Bunn seemed fixed to his line in the first half for corners and free kicks - scared me to death. Did appear to come out for a few more second half, but didn't fill me with confidence.

Saw Palace were 7/5, thought that looked like free money, basically, so stuck a tenner on.

Shock 1-0 home win, 93rd minute scuffed-in Gestede wundergoal.

Early on in each half Guzan and Lescott will set up a chewing gum perimeter around our box which will stop Palace in their tracks. Sadly, we won't be able to capitalize...so I can only see a 0-0

You'd have to think surely Bacuna, Richardson, Guzan, Westwood and Gestede would be dropped.

when the replacements are the likes of Cissokho, Bunn, Flabby and Sinclair does it really matter?

Cissokho is more solid than Richardson and I'd say the replacements are Veretout and Ayew for Bacuna and Gestede, big improvements.

Think we'll miss Sanchez in this game though, we are powderpuff in midfield without him even though he never finds anyone in Claret & Blue.

Heard or read somewhere it is being suggested they walk out to Bowie's "Heroes".

Problem is for 2nd half  "The laughing gnome" will be more appropriate.

1-3

Soares, Cabeye, Zaha for them.

Ayew for us.

If the gum gate saga is played out hopefully Guzan and Lescott will be rightfully dropped tonight. I would give Kozak a run too, we have nothing to lose.

The worst thing is though, I was putting a team together in my head and the last 2-3 places I struggled really badly to knit a side together. It must be a nightmare for Garde considering how few options he has in midfield and attack.

Bunn, Richards, Okore, Clark, Cissokho, Bacuna, Lyden, Vertout, Gil, Ayew, Kozak

Instead of yelling "Man On" tonight, "Watch that Man" should be used instead

...and when/if Villa do use, instead of hurling abuse, the crowd should politely exclaim "What in the World"

I still think that "Unwashed and somewhat slightly dazed" should be tonight's entrance music.

Would love to see Ricardo Calder given a chance tonight , he´s a big lad , very fast, inventive  and direct. Impressed in pre season ( from the games I watched ) and also upon loan in
Dundee .
Jordan Lyden must also surely be in line for a game.......Godzvilla!
p.s...´Garde la Victoire´ won the 3pm at Ludlow this afternoon.....hopefully an omen.

I think after today the players might 'get it' and turn in a performance.
1-0 to us.
They will never get it and even if they do they will still be crap, even Richards. He talks a good game on Twitter but he's as crap and clueless as the rest of them. Palace have been excellent away from home under Pardew and this will be their easiest away game all season.
Yes!
