Possibly at its lowest esteem since the day I was born.
Next season will see one team in the premiership - this is a disgrace for the area and population represented.
Compare this to the late 70's with 5 teams in the top division, one other in the second division (Walsall).
We were making preparations to be league champions and European Cup custodians.
WBA - Europe and attractive football.
At the end of the decade Wolves started to think big - Big transfer fees paid.
Coventry - somehow continued to hold their own even beating one or two big teams.
Blues well they are Blues - up and down but still attracted some decent players and half decent attendances (at times).
Walsall had their moments under Buckley.
I firmly believe that the general representation of the area stopped more than one player jumping on board.
It looks a truly sad picture today.

It really sets the tone when you think about the teams we have in the area...
Villa - Owner wants to sell,
WBA - Owner wants to sell,
Wolves - Owner wants to sell,
Blues - Owner wants to be free let alone accepting real money for the place!
Coventry- They just played a season in Northampton ....enough said.
And fair play to Walsall who somehow manage to have a stable club whilst running off what ever money they find on a sunday evening after the market!
(The latter part may be exaggerated)
Either way in terms of West Midlands football, it's not the best.

Blues are still very much in the promotion race as well.
The ultimate humiliation could yet happen.

The ultimate humiliation is us being relegated without a fight which will happen .....Fuck blues !

Don't know about that. Coventry and Walsall are having good seasons in Division One, Wolves seem to be turning the corner and Blues are pushing for the play offs in the Championship, and despite his faults Albion won't go down under Pulis. We, in comparison, are festering like a lump of white dog shit on a bit of waste ground.

In response to the OP I was going to say that after we were relegated in 1987 there were no West Midlands teams in the top flight. But of course I would have been wrong. Coventry City were still present and crowing about an FA Cup win to boot.
I think that says more about Coventry than anything.

But wolves aside(who have picked up recently),every team in the midlands seems to be doing ok(besides us,obviously)
Leicester,Stoke,West Brom
Blues,Forest
We are woeful.

Oh I agree, football wise on the pitch everyone bar us might be happier, I was trying to bring everyone else down with us, and not give them any footballing credit ;)

I don't care about West Brom/Wolves/Blues/Coventry/Walsall
They don't care about me...

if cov , burton and walsall get promotion , plus wolves and blues already there
there will be plenty of midlands derby matches next season and it could work in our favour
As it did when we won Division one /the league in 1981

Not sure about that. It would be a combination of experienced championship sides, newly promoted sides with upward momentum......and us.

I had this conversation with a nose on Saturday. He started going on about how they had won it more recently than us, to which I responded 'I thought we were the historians? I'm talking about THIS season'
