I'm at the point of just wanting it all mathematically confirmed. I'm tired of the hoping for it to improve them getting kicked repeatedly in the balls week after week after week. I'm tired of trying to be optimistic. I'm tired of my weekends being fucking ruined. I'm tired of watching this side trot out knowing full well how it is all going to end. I know we will win again one day but I really cannot be arsed with it this season. I just want to get it out of the way, know we are gone for sure and then start again. Garde needs a clean slate and so do we. The future scares me to death but I don't want this PL misery anymore.
-
Yep. Me too. I'm sick of the hope moments like today give you. We equalise, and you start thinking 'if we can just nick the win here there might still be a squeek of a chance for us'. Then you start looking at other scores that are going for you. Then yet again, we fuck it up. I've had enough

Yep, it's the hope that kills you.
-
It could be as 'late' as March before it's mathematically impossible so 'closure' isn't just around the corner I'm afraid.
-
I agree, I'm just utterly sick and bored of it.
-
It's humiliating. We know we're gone. Everyone else does. We will just get dicked every week, possibly win a game or two. I actually think it'd be worse to have a near miss where we have a lazarus like effort to get close with a game or so to go and go down thanks to an own goal from Hutton after Richards miscontrols a Guzan pass across the six yard box
-
I know, I feel like it would be easier if we could just pull out of the league this season and be relegated by default. The past 5 years we've always pulled out a miracle run of games to survive. But we all know that this isn't possible this time. We're just embarrassing ourselves every weekend and increasing the gap. We can't compete with any side in the division at the moment. We should sell all the oldies this January and only play yonger players for the rest of the season to give them their last chance of top flight experience. Sad times...
-
This team doesn't have the ability or desire so bollocks to the mathematics.
-
I apologise to those of you I doubted and even had a go at when you correctly pointed out that the players were not good enough not only this season but previous horrific campaigns as well. I am not able to deeply analyse footballing capability. I am just a lay fan and usually verge on positive outcome more in hope than anything else. I am very angry as to what has come to be and absolutely gutted that the great name Aston Villa is the laughing stock of footballing world. Some people need to pay dearly for this incompetence. An incompetence where despite 5 years of notice those in charge have failed to turnaround our downward slide. One bad decision after another has landed us in deep mire from where there is no escape and slow death over 5 months will follow. This is going to be horrible. Well done you %^&*&^%$!
-
Ditto. This is like Being water boarded
-

But to be fair to the players, they are doing their best to make it as quick as possible!
-
And it's going to get much much worse.
Wait until the Bitters get hold of us later this month.
Wait until confidence has totally gone, Garde becomes even more clueless and we start getting tanked 4,5,6 -0.
-
The players have given up, that's very evident. What a useless load of shit they are.
-
:-[Yes we appear to have dodged a tonking so far but I fear one is not too far away.
-
What team will relegate us then.....way it's looking it could be sometime in early March but I do think we'll get some more points in the period.
Man. United away I think 6 games before the end of the season would be fitting given our dismall over record v them in the last 20 years.

If we win one more game this season it will be at Old Trafford.

Yes you can't fault them for that.
-
I'm guessing March 5th. My father supports City and its my birthday the following day.
-
Countdown starts at Man city away with ten games to go on 5/3 after that relegation will be confirmed depending on how other teams do in the 5 games window from
12/3 Spurs at home
19/3 Swansea away
2/4 Everton home
9/4 Bournemouth home
16/4 manure away

The worst possible thing that could happen now is for us to somehow win a couple on the bounce....
-

Meh I just want to have the feeling of winning a game or two again, y'know looking forward to watching the highlights even if I know deep down it will be futile.
-

Erm.... Why? If my wanting this to come to an end blows up in my face because we start winning games, and stunningly if they are in a row, why on earth would any Villa fan not want that?
-
Because i'm mentally drained with the false hope.
-
The fact that we had ample warning over the last five years really gets to me, the footballing gods were on our side for the last few years letting us survive but telling us to get our house in order. We have square pegs in round holes throughout the club and a manager without his preferred support team.
I understand that there are other owners that do not attend every game but I really believe that Lerner not being at the games shields him from reality, he is like a child who has lost interest in his latest toy and it stands neglected in the corner. He was in retrospect the worst of owners we could have had because for him we were a passing phase once we lost our glitter he lost interest.

I don't think that can be right. Apparently, he has a tattoo.

On a more serious point, like you it is the fact we failed to take action despite five years notice that galls me.

It is confirmed. Going on previous seasons on average we would need probably another 30 points to stay up. 30 points from 54 available, that's the form that would see you finish 6th/7th. Absolutely no chance. We need to win 4 games just to be ahead of 17th place, reality is we won't win 4 games all season.
-
10 wins to stay up. Christ even I think that's beyond us.

this
18 games and ten wins required, it is already confirmed

It's irrelevant to this season, we are too far gone, but going into next season with some form and confidence might help prevent successive relegations.

I would be at peace with Man U relegating us though I think we'll be gone long before then. I'm thinking we could be the team to relegate Newcastle again.

Because i'm mentally drained with the false hope.
When, where and how did you burden yourself with false hope this season?

If we have a 10 minute spell of pressure then I start dusting the passport off.

Relegating Newcastle in our final home game and taking them down with us would be the only glory for us this season. They won't go down though, they dominated Arsenal yesterday and have better players than us.
If they're safe by the time we play them they will rip the piss big time and we'll have to take our medicine after 2009. We won't still be crying about it 7 years later though like them.
-
At the moment I am convincing myself that I am OK with relegation and starting to accept it but when it is actually confirmed I know it'll be awful.
7 points off 19th = three results at least needed over Sunderland. Just not happening.
-
Have any of you actually paid for season tickets?
-
Have any of you actually paid for season tickets?
Yep - I have a standing offer to any of my friends who were ST holders (there were 6 of us, just 2 now) that they can have a free seat for any match other than the final home game - nobody has taken me up on it yet ;-)
-
I know this might sound like pie in the sky now and does nothing to quell the understandable anger but the back end of the promotion campaign was both tense and a lot of fun at times. I especially recall with fondness sat in the upper Trinity as Kevin Gage's cross was met at full pace by Platty's nut to win the game versus Bradford. Not sure what the attendance was that day but it was a good one at VP. Promotion means relegation so its going to be tough to take when it almost now inevitably arrives, but when I look at who is at the top of the table right now in the Championship it's hardly a bunch of world beaters or world beating managers. I know this seems impossible to imagine now but Garde with his staff and with the support to get us out can do it and we can enjoy winning again as we take that ride. Or at least that's what I'm hoping. This making wankers of ourselves year after year in the PL has gotten very old and we almost need to start again.
-
Knowing the Villa it probably be no more win then we win 9 games on the trot at the end of season and get relegated by 1 point.
-
Have any of you actually paid for season tickets?
My wife and I got a half season ticket in December and we plan to keep it
-
Derby went down after the 32nd game - so that is the benchmark or it could of course be worse. Who is the 32nd?
-
Have any of you actually paid for season tickets?
Mine was £40 less thanks to my Villa cash. It hasn't really softened the blow that much.
-
Won't use mine as much as usual ,commitments in March and April blessing in disguise
-

Chelsea (H)
-
I know Garde has said he'd stay with us next season, but there was something in his eyes at Sunderland that seems to suggest he's had enough. He'll probably walk before the summer.
-
I wondered whether we could explore the possibility of going into administration just for the points deduction and the associated acceleration in confirmation of demise.
-

Yep and it will be refreshing to have something to (hopefully) challenge for. Even our good and exciting cup runs in the past few years have ultimately ended in humiliation (Bradford and the no show at Wembley last May).
-
TV, I would like to try to ease the pain.
I promise you there will come a day in the future when you are whooping and hollering with joy and pleasure watching the Villa. All of this will be like a bad dream. The trick is not to screw yourself up inside but to use these black, black days of endless pain to make the highs when they come that much more thrilling and wonderful.
Remember what Mark Twain said - Acid damages far more the vessel in which it is stored than anything it is ever poured on.

It might be funny as f##k but there is absolutely no glory in it what so ever.
-
Brian the problem is, some of us old buggers may never see those glory days again, because this aint a band aid problem. (Cue the Bono puns)
-
It might just tip us over the Edge
-
Ure so right Villabear
-
Lets hope we're not all waiting until October for the next win......
-
Hold it right there. Puns are one thing; U2 puns are a different thing altogether.
-
Kuwait, if I only have a limited number of seasons to follow Villa I don't want to go out watching anti football ground out by a Pulis clone.
-
I've been Mullen it over.
Sorry
-
I've been Mullen it over.
Sorry
Verbal warning.
-
Is U2 a band of some sort?
I thought it was Admiral Karl Doenitz's wolf pack flagship. Silly name for a band if that is what it is.
-
Today is the day that if there was any hope it has been vanquished. With the opportunity to move 5 points from safety instead we have gone and done this. What an utter shambles we are. We are going down, we deserve it and we are an embarrassment to the league.
-
There you go. As confirmed as you will get it without the maths
-
When will it be confirmed? I'm guessing Man Utd away.
-
I would say by end of March on current form.
-
I like most on here just want it over
-
The manner in which we've thrown the towel in completely I can't see us getting another point so it shouldn't take much longer.
-
When will it be confirmed? I'm guessing Man Utd away.
Think that's about right - 4 games left after that, and in spite of other teams doing their damnedest not to pull away, I think we'll be more than 12 points adrift by then
-
Does it matter when it's actually confirmed? I think we should just take it as read anyway.
-
I took it as read a few weeks ago tbh - just speculating when it's mathematically confirmed and we get that big 'R' next to our name in the league table
-
16 or 23 April. 7 losses on the bounce (again) for us.
35 points could be enough this year.
Im seriously worried we'll be joined by both north east clubs. Our odds coming back would be diminished

Nah, Norwich are shite, even we beat them.

I think you're right. Big derby in north east in few weeks time! Doubt maclaren will be there for that.
-
We are goosed.
-
I wish it was just done.
-
We are goosed.
Our Champions League chances are definitely up the swanny now.
-
It's hard to know exactly how I will feel when it becomes official. I'll probably have a period of anger but it will probably pass quickly as I've gotten used to the idea of relegation. Let's put it this way there won't be any shock when the moment does arrive. Part of me is already in next season and I am praying that things resolve themselves to a point where we have some degree of hope going into August. Right now things look bleak, but that's a perfectly natural place to be given how we are having our arse handed to us week after week. The one thing football always brings is a new season and renewed optimism that things might be better.
-
I can confirm it here and now...
-
If Bournemouth, Southampton and Newcastle beat us this season, it'll mean that all other 19 teams in the division would have beaten us this season. Has that ever happened?
-
To be honest, it will seem like a relief and a chance to start over. We have been in meltdown for the last five years. The last time we experienced this total fuck up was around 45/50 years ago and we bounced back big time. As an eternally optimistic believer in AVFC, I really believe (and hope being honest) that we will not become a Leeds, Nott's Forest or Derby.... Sad clubs living on memories. To think that we may join them is something that makes me want to face the wall and give up on football.
