Title: When We Was Fab
Post by: Ron Manager on November 30, 2015, 04:47:00 PM
At the moment we are all demoralised, despondent, depressed and anything you care to add as long as it begins with D. It wasn't always like that . In 1910
Villa fans had something to cheer about. It would be accurate to describe Aston Villa as the most famous club in the world. Below is one reason why.The Daily News report of our game against Man Utd at Villa Park on 26th Feb....look at the headline!

ASTON VILLA  7   MANCHESTER UTD  1

                                              ASTON VILLA IRRESISTIBLE

Aston Villa gave one of the most extraordinary displays of brilliant forward work they have ever been responsible for defeating Manchester United in heavy mud. Walters and Eyre were outstanding on the flanks. Walters scored a wonderful hat trick with further goals from Hampton and Gerrish. United's goal came from Meredith.

Someday, perhaps not in the years I have left, we will get back to that standard...the years when we were fab.

See Sky were already messing around with Saturday kick off times- we  had to leave before the end to get the last horse and trap home.

The match was against the Wolves just in case anyone gets confused with The Wanderers who won the FA Cup. Attendance 2,500. Tommy Green scored our first ever league goal and Gershom Cox put through his own net for them. So that,s another record we hold. First OG in the football league!
