We could be going from having Ray Wilkins as an Assistant Manager, a man who is perfectly spherical, to Steve Round. The former assistant to Steve McLaren is apparently on his way to B6.

Round Are Way? Think he was with Moyes at Everton.

Judging by this ( from the Express) it is a short term deal which would leave the way open for Gerald Baticle and Bruno Genesio to join in the summer. ................Godzvilla!.

" The 45-year-old turned down an offer from Steve McClaren to join Newcastle earlier this season and is also believed to have been a target for Tim Sherwood, Garde's successor, in the summer.

Round worked with Moyes for six years at both Everton and United, before leaving Old Trafford last April.

The former defender has also worked with McClaren at England and Middlesbrough, and worked with Sam Allardyce at Newcastle.

Villa are bottom of the league after only one win this season, and Round looks set to agree a short-term deal with the Midlands club " .

I am sure everyone will be trilled to know I usually appoint Steve Round as my assistant when taking over Villa in my Football Manager games. If things continue to develop along these lines multiple Champions League titles will surely follow.

I can hear the pundits now.  " If Villa are appointing Moyes old number 2, why not wait until Moyes was available and getting him as well?"

as long as the fans don't give him the bird when he starts scratching around for new coaching ideas.

Will be interesting to hear the opinions of Liverpool fans. As we know they are the font of knowledge on footballing matters. I'll pop over to SQUAWK for a look.

Steve Round is a decent coach, far better than Mark Robson. I think this will be a positive, albeit, short term appointment, if we are to wait for Baticle etc al.
