Welcome Remi, and good luck. You've helped yourself with that team, I think:
Guzan; Hutton, Richards, Clark, Amavi; Sanchez, Gana, Veretout; Gil, Ayew, Sinclair.
-
Win lose or draw, that's a far better and more balanced line up. Like the midfield diamond.
Hope
-
Subs: Bunn, Bacuna, Lescott, Richardson, N'Zogbia, Gestede, Grealish.
-
That's more bloody like it! Come on Villa.
-
4-3-3 or 4-3-1-2? Will Gil and Ayew be wide of Sinclair, or will Gil be behind the pair of them? It'll be interesting to find out.
-
Our current best 11 players on the pitch, in their best positions? What madness is this?
-
Ayew through the centre with Sinclair/Gil slightly deeper either side I'd have thought.
-
Like it. Like it. No Gabby. Grealish has to work harder. I just want to see Traore in there so wondering why he isn't getting a look. Still no Kozak and Ilori has vanished also. So hopefully those lads get a chance in the coming weeks. At least he's not hiding. Let's have a go!!
-
Now that's a fucking line up right there. No Gabby either. I'll take that.
Interesting that N'Zogbia is back in the fold. He must have impressed in training. Either that or his wardrobe just kept him in Garde's mind.
-
Is that wanker playing for them?
-
Delph is on the bench.
What's annoying is, I wasn't expecting Sterling to play because he was injured. And I've just realised it's probably because I dreamt he'd been injured last night. We also went on to win the game 2-0. I prefer my dreams to reality. We're doing a lot better in the league.
-
Is that wanker playing for them?
He's in his usual position as sub yes.
-
Probably our strongest line up.
-
Disgraceful line up where are all the British players?
-
No Westwood either.
-
Can't dispute that line up can we.
Traore and Kozak must be not impressing in training. I reckon Garde will be good for Grealish and Traore in the longer term though, so not too worried about that - looking at his record with young players at Lyon their time will come.
NZogbia often reacts for a new manager, so will be interesting.
-
Agree it's probably our strongest side. But the bench is not inspiring. Why no Okore, Kozak, Traore, or ILori?
-
Agree it's probably our strongest side. But the bench is not inspiring. Why no Okore, Kozak, Traore, or ILori?
I know it's a novelty, but perhaps it's because the manager hasn't seen enough from them in training this week and has made an alternative plan based on the players who have performed well.
-
Like it. He's certainly got the midfield right. Hope he's playing Sinclair in the middle rather than out wide.
-
Agree it's probably our strongest side. But the bench is not inspiring. Why no Okore, Kozak, Traore, or ILori?
Because they have about ten minutes game time between them.
-
Good selection, team looks a lot more balanced.
Can't see us keeping De Bruyne, Bony and Sterling quiet though.
2-2 with Gil the star
-
I am in a bar in Perpignan where the egg-chasing lovers have agreed to put the game on. Get in ! Allez les Lions !
-
I hope this team performs, even if we lose as expected, just to show Sherwood that the French players are capable of playing at this level. Good luck Remi.
I see Sherwood is a favourite for QPR, so he should be able to keep them spiralling down,

Our current best 11 players on the pitch, in their best positions? What madness is this?
I know. I can't quite get my head around this!
-
I don't expect wonders today, and even a point is probably too much to ask for. But I would love to see just a slight hint that we know what we are doing and that green shouts are on the way.
-
Is Westwood injured. Not that i'm complaining if not, like.
-
It's going to be a good day.
Fuck the fuckers.
-
I expect a spirited defeat and every pundit to use it as conclusive proof that Sherwood was right and that all our signings were just as shit as he and they thought they were.
-
Is that wanker playing for them?
Nephews preparing to welcome him back to VP.
-
Gabby and Westwood probably injured, recovering from concussion, so I wouldn't hail Remi as ruthless at clearing the dross just yet.
-
Is Westwood injured. Not that i'm complaining if not, like.
Might still be suffering from concussion.
-
Is Westwood injured. Not that i'm complaining if not, like.
Concussion remember, although he might not.
-
Come on Villa.
-
Our current best 11 players on the pitch, in their best positions? What madness is this?
I know. I can't quite get my head around this!
It does make a change doesn't it. At least we've selected a team with some common sense!
-
That's the midfield three I was hoping to see: Gana, Sanchez and Veretout. That's a physical and energetic combination, and Veretout can knock it about a bit too. And Gil starts.
Even if we get spanked, at least it's a team selection that looks completely logical.
-
We look better already.
-
Seems to be a sort of 4-1-4-1. And so far it looks good.
-
There's definitely a bit more coherence in our play, for want of a better word.
-
What's all this passing the ball and movement off the ball bollocks?
-
We're not playing like a club bottom of the league.
-
Gil is very much the focal point.
Keeping shape better.
Not convinced by Ayew at the top, think we need a bigger, stronger striker there with Ayew out wide
-
Hutton's looking pretty convincing so far.
-
Gil is very much the focal point.

I suspect that will be a priority in January.
-
Pretty impressive opening 10..
-
Stroking the ball around nicely. Getting back into formation when city attack. For now look good...
-
we showed really good patience there while Man City had the ball. No stupid diving in. Very good so far.
-
we are doing ok so far . like it , refreshing to see.
-
Good period of patient, probing possession there
-
Fucking hell! Us playing football is so good to see!
-
That was a really good passage of play with Sanchez as a fulcrum.
Commentators really bigging up his start to the game.
-
Are we organised?...and playing football?!
-
This looks so much better that is almost scary!
-
Playing some good stuff keep it up Villa.
-
Ball retention is excellent so far. Not just giving it away, taking care of the ball.
Against less good sides, it will be effective. Today is free hit, get some confidence in them.
-
Yep, Sanchez with Gueye, Veretour and Gil around him looks great so far
-
What is this strange modus operandi? A plan? Some logic? Stone the crows we can actually play football!
I wonder if Sherwood is watching?
-
Keep it up lads.
-
We've possibily passed the ball more in the first 15 minutes than the last 5 games.
-
1. I'm impressed with our play.
2. I'm shitting myself because Citeh look as if they are biding their time, waiting for us to run out of puff as usual.
3. On les encule, les enculés !*
*Fuck the fuckers!
-
Decent chance. Poor ball from Veretout but Hutton slipping unlucky.
-
Whisper it, but not only do we appear we might be a bit more difficult to break down, we're also showing a bit of patience when we have possession of the football...Guzan still looks shit though
-
That was not confidence inspiring from Guzan.
-
Defence all over the shop there... come on lads calm heads now.
-
cross the ball please
-
Clark and Guzan passing the ball between them in our own box...why is that making me nervous?
-
Amavi needs to cross it into the box a bit more...
-
This playing your best players in their best positions resulting in playing your best football with some sort of coherent plan is just the sort of foreign, fancy-dan bullshit we could do without.
WHY DIDN'T WE GIVE SHERWOOD MORE TIME?!
-
Gill playing like our Iniesta ... kind of anyway
-

WHY DIDN'T WE GIVE SHERWOOD MORE TIME?!
It's clearly some sort of comspiracy to keep english managers out of the game or summink.
-
Amavi is no Kieron Richardson, is he?
Thank fuck.
-
Bony going off injured?
I didn't even realise he was on the pitch.
-
Bony off - result for us.
-
Don't want to get carried away but if we persevere with this over the next number of weeks we are going to be just fine come the end of the season. It starts today. We might not win but this is a building block. Garde has brought calm to Villa and he is measured enough a man and manager not to get carried away whatever happens today. But I like where we appear to be going. Or at least attempting to go.
-
good 25 mins - liking this
-
This from the BBC Football Update page:
Patient stuff from Villa. They make it all the way to the edge of the City penalty area and instead of attempting an aimless shot, they decide to bring the ball back all the way to midfield and try again.
A great spell of pressure from the home side which ends with Idrissa Gana surging forward before striking over the bar.
Positive stuff.
-

WHY DIDN'T WE GIVE SHERWOOD MORE TIME?!
His time with us was timeless.
Well it felt like a fucking eternity to me anyway.
-
Hutton cant handle Sterling really...good thing the lazy fucker at least isnt helping defending when we got the ball.
-
Pleased that we've restricted them so far.
-
You know, as opening thirty minutes against Manchester City go, this is pretty decent.
Sanchez playing a much more disciplined role, in my opinion. As in, he's not running around like a blue-arsed fly, and looks more effective as a result.
-
Can I just say, I absolutely love Carlos Gil.
-
This very neat new style of playing on the pitch fits nicely with (shall I say) the very neat new style of the manager off it.
-
Can I just say, I absolutely love Carlos Gil.
He needs a run of games. Not this start stop bollocks. Same with Veretout.
-

It probably helps that he's not having to do Westwood's job as well.
-
Happy to see Guzan kicking it long from back passes too.
-
Can I just say, I absolutely love Carlos Gil.
Brilliant, I would pay to just watch him.

Agreed, TV. I'm sure (hopeful) we'll see solid performances at the least from them both.
-
Crowd is kinda quiet...they stunned?

Well there's one positive from the bullshit team selections.
It looks like Gil and Veretout have developed a bit of understanding in their free time.
-
just got in from the British Legion ( bit pissed)
How are we fairing ?
-
Thing is with Gil, I love that he's always looking and moving for the ball. He's capable of really good stuff I think.
-
just got in from the British Legion ( bit pissed)

Very positive so far just lacking a goal threat, Going on our recent performances its a massive improvement.
-
Gil veretout amavi our best players so far. All players the football geniuses Tim and Macdonald didn't fancy. Funny that.

Thanks, looks like a more balanced and positive line up
-
Great atmosphere, much better
-
The squad is good enough.
-

Agreed all very comfortable on the ball.
-
Has Gil got handball resin on his boots to make the ball stick to them like that?
-
The squad is good enough.
Maybe, remember they looked so in Sherwood's first game too, that's a judgement for five games down the line for me
-
Sloppy from Clark to allow de Bruyne to get away there.
-
this first half performance should wipe the smile off sniggering fucking nevilles face
-
Crowd is kinda quiet...they stunned?
forums pretty quiet too. normally about 20 pages by now. i think were all stunned.

great kick brad ;(

Ffs Guzan.

It's been a disciplined display is the highest compliment that I can provide.

Here's one:ffs Guzan!
-
Not many shots but it's watchable!
-
Yeah, a new 'keeper in January might be for the best.
-
Engrossed.

Ha ha - i thought following the Tottenham thread just how busy that one was - mostly a stream of unrelenting "we're fucked" "this is shit" etc.
I think this quiet thread is basically a lot of content fans smiling and nodding as things happen.
-
Clark getting an elbow in the face there.
DeBryne been shutdown by our midfield so he is probably pissed off.
-
Shading possession - against Man City.
That's positive.
-
Clear dive from Sterling
-
Good solid half, decent in possession, just need to get into their box more...easier said than done though. Gil was excellent as were most of them. 1st goal is critical. If it's them then heads could drop.
-
Very Impressed. We might well lose but we know there are the makings of a very decent team on the pitch. Is it International Friendles next week? giving more time to work with them in training.
-
They've got lots of super players so they will get the ball and create chances. We need to stand tall now and remain patient. There's no reason we can't carve out some chances for ourself.
-
Long way to go, but I wonder if Souness will revise his pre-match comments that our players just aren't good enough.
-
I'll take that for a half time score. The passing and movement from Villa has been unrecognisable from what went before.
Impressed with the midfield, especially Gil, who's prompting and link up play has been a joy.
-
So far so good.
We look like a team an actual team.
-
Im enjoying Andy Townsend's co-commentary on my feed.
Great First half, whatever happens from here on in I'm delighted with the change.
-
Was that Rooney who just held up the digital board showing one minute of added time?
-
Sounds good.
-
More solidity, structure, coherence, patience, passing and moving in 45 minutes than I've seen in the last few seasons. Now if we can just find a way to score, this could be the start of a huge awakening.
-
Much better, we look like a team of professionals who are playing to a system and we're holding our won well against one of the best sides in Europe. This should serve as the first bit of evidence that the squad is better than we've seen. Regardless of the 2nd half (to an extent) this is the turnaround we wanted to become a side that looks like they know each other.
-
Very encouraging so far, but still struggling to see where the goals will come from. Has Ayew touched the ball yet?
No doubt the British press will conveniently overlook a blatant dive from Sterling.
-
Towards the middle of that first half we had some really lovely midfield interplay between Gana, Sanchez, Hutton and Gil. All I wanted was for us to look organised, set-up properly and to see how we faired then, and well, we've been solid! Keep going Villa!
-
A very calm, composed and intelligent first half. In the manager's image, by the look of it.
-
Apart from the first half against Leicester... that our best half in ages.
-
Very encouraging so far, but still struggling to see where the goals will come from. Has Ayew touched the ball yet?
No doubt the British press will conveniently overlook a blatant dive from Sterling.
Ayew has had some good touches and won the ball in the air a few times. Skipped past about three of their players.
-
Decent so far. Good possession though almost no threat. Citeh have been very pedestrian and will presumably pick it up.
We've not really got anything in behind or in the air. Gil is doing well. Clark and Richards have both almost cost us tho.
Amavi also doing very well. If Hutton even had half as good a cross as lowton he'd be a good attacking right back
-
Bit fed up with the commentary team, saying that should have been a penalyy for a foul on Sterling, when he basically messed up a chance by being totally one footed and then blatantly dived when he knew the chance had gone.
-
Very Impressed. We might well lose but we know there are the makings of a very decent team on the pitch. Is it International Friendles next week? giving more time to work with them in training.
Exactly.
-
It feels so much better to be stood here at half time, not feeling pissed off. Vive le Villa!
-
We have to stay patient here. City are getting 10 men behind the ball quickly whenever we have it so they're not going to be easy to break down.
-
Seen the type of game far too often. Huff and puff but no threat, they up it second half and win comfortbly. Can't see us scoring. Shame because we look OK. Amavi looks class and veretout is tidy but clark and Richards look bit vulnerable. Still at least we have a shape now. Come on Villa!
-
Very encouraging so far, but still struggling to see where the goals will come from. Has Ayew touched the ball yet?
No doubt the British press will conveniently overlook a blatant dive from Sterling.
I think it's just a tight game. You could say the same about Bony until he went off, and De Bruyne since he moved up top.
-
Well at least he has them playing with a bit of a structure. Long way to go min and we look lightweight up front but at least we are keeping th ball. Gil is a bloody good player.
-
Very pleased with that first half performance - a lot more movement - a lot of positives to be had.
-
Bit fed up with the commentary team, saying that should have been a penalyy for a foul on Sterling, when he basically messed up a chance by being totally one footed and then blatantly dived when he knew the chance had gone.
Absolutely, cheating little cnut
-
Well I'm very pleased with that first half. Given neither side has had a shot on target of note, it's actually not been too bad a game.
As far as we go, I think we've moved the ball well and kept it quite intelligently at times. All that's lacking is a bit of a spark and a bit of daring in the final third. Amavi has been a little reluctant to whip the ball in when he's had good positions.
I think the midfield 3 has looked good. There's some balance there. Sanchez is doing well just sitting and holding and is shifting the ball well. When he doesn't get unnecessarily tired and makes mistakes, he's a quality player. I think it seems to me like Garde has identified that if you put a couple of energetic playes like Garde and Veretout there, then Sanchez doesn't have to run himself into the ground. Particularly if Carlos has had to play in a two with Westwood. It does him in.
Gil has been lively. I like the way he players, we just need to pick him out in some more dangerous areas. Ayew hasn't had much of the ball but looks sharp. Sinclair needs to do more. He's had a few chances to go on the outside but has cut in instead. He should be using his pace when he gets the chance.
All in all that's a solid display for me. Very pleasing. The most pleasing aspect is you can actually see there's a gameplan and that so far, it's been working. City have opened us up only once (Sterling should have been booked for that dive).
We're not pressing too much much. We're staying disciplined, but at the same time we're not camping on our own box and inviting pressure. I think defensively we've got the balance about right. I'll snatch your arm off for a 0-0, but who knows, we could nick something. I'll be interested to see what changes Garde might make and whether (and how) he'll utilise Gestede in the latter stages.
-
I think whatever happens this puts to bed the idea that the players we signed in the summer are terrible. It was all bad management.
-
reasonably encouraging
-
I'm not overly concerned about creating chances but today. We need to prove we can disciplined and resolute defensively. And there is no bigger test than against the side that will likely be champions or very close to it.
-
I'm not overly concerned about the creati chances but today. We need to prove we can disciplined and resolute defensively. And there is no bigger test than against the side that will likely be champions or very close to it.
I think Citeh are easily the best team in the league in all fairness
-
Bit fed up with the commentary team, saying that should have been a penalyy for a foul on Sterling, when he basically messed up a chance by being totally one footed and then blatantly dived when he knew the chance had gone.
Absolutely, cheating little cnut
You could easily argue Gil's dive was worse to win the free kick outside their box as he wasn't even touched.
But he's Villa, so we won't eh.
-
We shouldn't play down how well City have defended. They track our runners from midfield, they've organised positionally, they've balanced sitting in with pressing. If we're going to look toothless, some of it will be to do with City.
-
I thought Henry on Sky Sports there was going to offer some thoughts similar to my own. He didn't, although on the same lines but with a slightly more negative stance (he felt that Gil was being a little irresponsible in his defensive duties). My thought, though, were that I can't actually remember the last time you could clearly see the shape of our team. Watch when City attack, and you can see the players move swiftly back in position - it looks very solid.
-
What we have been lacking for years, some decent players in midfield who can hold the ball, find a pass, keep possession, and keep trying to unlock a very good defence. We look organised when we don't have the ball, and are keeping our structure very well. Sterling is causing a few problems but overall we have contained them. We just need a bit of luck or a bit of magic. Very pleased with Veretout, Gana, Amavi, Gil, Ayew. The more game time they get, the better they will become.
-
Well at least he has them playing with a bit of a structure. Long way to go min and we look lightweight up front but at least we are keeping th ball. Gil is a bloody good player.
He was good buy, just never given a proper opportunity by Sherwood.
Maybe his media mates might start to have doubts about some of his statements about the players not being good enough
-
There was contact on sterling. But not enough for a pen for me.
I don't think we've had as much as a half chance though and I'm not sure where one will come from. I think Ayew has done quite well but I'm not sure he's a number 9 in English football.
-
The City bus has been parked up in front of me. Our players are almost matching them for quality so far but I guess they may get moving at 60+ however very good so far without showing how we are going to score.
-
Considering this City team have been ripping our relegation competitors apart this is very encouraging. It's incredulous a string of our managers couldn't fashion a tactical plan which involved passing and not falling apart. Good omens so far - this is far from over and we're going to pick up - hopefully a striker in Jan should sort us out.
-
Bit fed up with the commentary team, saying that should have been a penalyy for a foul on Sterling, when he basically messed up a chance by being totally one footed and then blatantly dived when he knew the chance had gone.
Absolutely, cheating little cnut
Even Peter Kær, (Schmeichel's predecessor on the Danish national team) who for some inexplicable reason seems to hate us, said no penalty and lucky not to be booked.
-
Henry had some positive comments about Remi and how he much confidence he gives his player.
He basically said he's like a replica of Wenger.
I wont get carried away but it sounds a step in the right direction.
-
I am happy so far , maybe Id like to see Sinclair do a little bit more and Amavi whip a few crosses in but we are playing a top side here.
Be interesting to see what Remi does now in the second half.
-
Lets see what Ayew can do with this team behind him against sides in and around us in the league. Man City are class and it's no shame for me if he doesn't get much joy. We'll create more against other teams I'm sure.
-
Souness really doesn't like us does he
-
I'm pleased. But think the comments are a bit over optimistic. I guess we'll see against weaker teams how this sort of structure and style is going to translate into goals with these players. But for today, happy
-
I'm not overly concerned about creating chances but today. We need to prove we can disciplined and resolute defensively. And there is no bigger test than against the side that will likely be champions or very close to it.
Same here. Under normal circumstances most teams won't create much against the league leaders, even if they approach a game a little more gung ho. I think we're approaching this the right way. I think Gil's freekick was a waste. That would have been a good opportunity. Veretout should probably have taken it as he's apparently a specialist and it wouldn't have been the obvious choice. He may have caught Hart off guard.
The longer the game goes on, City will come at us stronger. They will create more second half, but at the same time we should get 2-3 chances ourselves. But certainly this isn't looking like the cricket score people were expecting City to deliver. We don't look like we've run ourselves ragged either, so I'm hoping we don't die on our arse on 60 minutes. I've seen us do that so often in tighter games under Lambert and Sherwood. We look tough to break down but we've emptied our tank on 60 minutes and then it falls apart. There's a bit more forethought about the way Garde has approached the game I feel.
-
Decent shape about us but Sinclair is offering zilch. Have been very impressed with Sanchez, he is holding things together well for us. Might need to get Grealish on if things stay as is.
On that Sterling dive, daft defending from Richards in the build up. He really lacks defensive instincts.
-
A CF and a winger are a must in January
-
34 completed passes by Gil.
Makes Gabby's 6 touches even more embarrassing if that's possible.
-
We have done really well in that half but we still have a mountain to climb if we want to stay up.
Remember lads its one game, take the positives out of it but don't get ahead of ourselves yet.
I only say that because there were times in that first half when I thought 'ah the rest of the season will be a breeze now' can't afford to think like that
-
Souness really doesn't like us does he
It's fair enough. There's pretty much no one who likes him.
-
Souness really doesn't like us does he
I purchased some new boots yesterday that need to be broken in, I'd love to do it by repeatedly kicking Souness in the bollocks. He's desperate for city to do us.
-
34 completed passes by Gil.
Makes Gabby's 6 touches even more embarrassing if that's possible.
When you've reached the point where you'd have to be Casper the Ghost to have fewer touches, you beyond being more embarrassing
-
Cracking build up from Villa there - Sinclair messed up at the last.
-
Fucking hell - we weren't great first half, but we've held our own. Some good periods of possession, good shape and looked confident on the ball. Against a top of the table side, we've looked pretty comfortable. Dawning of a new era? Hope so.
Andy Townsend's on the co-commentary here in Aus. Very fair.
2nd half now - Come on You Lions!!!
-
Clever ball from Amavi there. Pity Sinclair couldn't bring it down.
-
Is it a foul if the player slipped to bring the other one down?
-
Guzan you lucky, lucky boy.
-
Very unlucky slip from Gueye then, but fuck me Guzan is dodgy as buggery isn't he. Easy catch fumbled.
-
Guzan! Good grief!
-
Sinclair, touch of a rapist. I'd like to see Ayew replace him out wide and Gestede in the middle. At least have a target there. He wouldn't have to do anything except chase the ball down and get his head on a cross.
-
fuck thought taht was it
-
Guzan does not inspire confidence.
-
FUCKING what a save Guzan. Astonishing!
-
Guzan! Good grief!!
Wow!
-
Guzan heads away.
All them now. Getting a bit like the Alamo.
-
We need a spell of possession again.
-
Although that's a great save. We're struggling now.
-
Brads head saves us
-
Brilliant save!
-
Sinclair, touch of a rapist. I'd like to see Ayew replace him out wide and Gestede in the middle. At least have a target there. He wouldn't have to do anything except chase the ball down and get his head on a cross.
Me too. We need something else up front to play off now, as we can't keep hold of the damned thing.
-
cracking save from the goose there
-
City turning it up a notch. Pellegrini must have letting them hear it at halftime.
-
livening up a bit now.
A goal is due, i can feel it - i don't know who for though..!
-
Lovely run from Vertout, Ayew should have held his run. Need to change things a bit and get Ayew coming in from wide.
-
City turning it up a notch. Pellegrini must have letting them hear it at halftime.
Either that or they've been paying attention to Shwerwood's playbook and deliberately played shite in the first half.
-
I like the look of Veretout, I think he could be a really tidy, useful player. He does, though, just at the moment look like he's a split-second too slow releasing the ball sometimes.
That'll get better with more game time, I expect.
-
Good from Veretout.
-
We are getting pegged back now. We need to keep the discipline we've shown so far and ride out this stretch. Especially don't give the ball away in daft areas.
-
Although that's a great save. We're struggling now.
Would have helped if Richards or Hutton had bothered to get tight on Sterling.
Gueye and Veretout seem to be gone MIA
-
Thats the least Carles Gil thing I think I've seen Carles Gil do.
-
Ball looked out by a mile on their last attack. Like Inter Milan all over again.
-
Reggie Ray with his pass on looks like he is here for a day trip!
-
Struggling a bit now.
-
Although not a classic, this looks far from top vs bottom game.
not convinced we're good enough to salvage our position overall though.
-
it would probably help if Garde could, like, move his arms around wildly and shout 'Fackin' 'ell lads!' a bit more.
-
Super work from Sanchez.
-
it would probably help if Garde could, like, move his arms around wildly and shout 'Fackin' 'ell lads!' a bit more.
Assignment #15 of the Fifa Coaching Badge.
-
blimey the return of the Zog
-
charlie is on
imagine if he scores
-
Here comes Charlie
-
Charles coming on - imagine Sherwood doing that and our reaction on here!!!
-
here comes charlie.
-
it would probably help if Garde could, like, move his arms around wildly and shout 'Fackin' 'ell lads!' a bit more.
Garde obviously needs to rip his Yves Saint Laurent jacket off and throw it on the ground.
-
Come on Zog. You owe us something, anything.
-
Zog...
-
hes doe well gill but was tiring
-
On for Gil
-
Holy shit.
-
how on earth did they not score there?
-
sitter missed
-
Probably about right - Gil was looking a bit knackered.
-
I don't like this any more...
-
Didn't think i'd see Zog play for us again.
-
Fuck. Huge let off.
-
sensible sub for me.
-
Fucking he'll that's a(nother) let off.
-
Hutton is having a good game.
-
Hah ha!
-
N'Zog for Gil. Turn up please Charlie.
-
Everything is going our way.
1-0 Villa.
-
It's only a matter of time.
-
At least Charlie for Carles is logical. Left sided and better defensively
-
that was some chance for them... defence creaking slightly. hutton has done well today but lost de bruyne very easily (spelling)
-

Charles N'Zogbia, used to be a footballer once.
Comes on for Carles Gil.
-
I think a draw would feel like a win.
-
Fucking he'll that's a(nother) let off.
Richards was like a flat footed statue as the cross came in.
-
Gil been our best player first half. Must be out of puff.
-
Delph to come and grab the winner?......Ill just get my coat.
-
Zog is rubbish and He's not going to be any different just because we have a French manager
-
Good performance so far...but we look knackered now after 60 minutes. Sanchez particularly blowing out his arse and making his usual mistakes now.
-
Fucking he'll that's a(nother) let off.
Richards was like a flat footed statue as the cross came in.
As against a statue fleet of foot.
-
close there come on villa
-
Struggling a bit now. Good from Jordan though.
-
We do need some pace in attack to get behind. I can see the sense in the sub. Really hanging on now. I don't care though. I'd take anything we can get here
-
Well played Charlie
-
Zog is rubbish and He's not going to be any different just because we have a French manager
I hope you've just "anti-jinxed" things and have named the winning goalscorer.
-
It's stressful, yet am enjoying this. Nice to see some desire.
-
another good sub - didnt think he had the best game
-
Our manager is coaching at the sidelines and not just striking poses for the media...what novelty!
-
Oh my God! That was a decent corner!
Garde truly is the chosen one!
-
20 minutes to go. Keep it tight lads...and no stupid mistakes in midfield or at the back please.
-
Sinclair off for Bacuna
-
Still trying to keep shape, still trying to play football.
We should be a couple down but a point here would be massive
-
Bacuna for Sinclair.
See how that alters the formation.
-
Zog is rubbish and He's not going to be any different just because we have a French manager
I hope you've just "anti-jinxed" things and have named the winning goalscorer.
I wouldn't mind that
-
Best asset Zog has is his bulk. We're getting bullied by their players, especially Gil, Gana and Ayew.
-
Be good Bacuna.
-
We're gonna pinch this. I can sense it.
-
clark excellent tackle
-
Everything is going our way.
1-0 Villa.
Got exited then checked who'd scored and found out this was wrong. Go back to the Blues forum you troll.
-
Our manager is coaching at the sidelines and not just striking poses for the media...what novelty!
Yes. And you just knew he was saying clever things to bacuna before he came on whereas Tim probably just said something like 'fackin get stuck in son'.
-
Best asset Zog has is his bulk. We're getting bullied by their players, especially Gil, Gana and Ayew.
That's where Gabby should be contributing. He's a big strong lad and instead of learning how to use that as he got older he became fat and complacent.
-
Makes all the difference not having Westwood on the pitch
-
clark excellent tackle
Lovely to watch.
-
Played Clark.
-
Lovely play to win that corner.
-
Sanchez looks a player today.
-
corner come on villa
-
Delph coming on, this will be fun, over to you Mr Hutton...
-
Everything is going our way.
1-0 Villa.
Got exited then checked who'd scored and found out this was wrong. Go back to the Blues forum you troll.
I think you just misinterpreted what Smirker was saying.
-
Come ON!!!!! Corner
-
Delph to come and grab the winner?......Ill just get my coat.
oh god no
-
Best asset Zog has is his bulk. We're getting bullied by their players, especially Gil, Gana and Ayew.
That's where Gabby should be contributing. He's a big strong lad and instead of learning how to use that as he got older he became fat and complacent.
If we were playing for a draw we could always just lie him down on the goal line.
-

Just like he was against Swansea?
-
Some really, really good stuff here.
Especially from players who are so obviously not good enough for the best league in the world.
-
We're gonna pinch this. I can sense it.
Ha ha Ha ha Ha ha Ha ha Ha ha Ha ha Ha ha Ha ha Ha ha Ha ha Ha ha Ha ha Ha ha Ha ha Ha ha Ha ha Ha ha Ha ha Ha ha Ha ha Ha ha Ha ha Ha ha Ha ha Ha ha Ha ha Ha ha Ha ha Ha ha Ha ha Ha ha Ha ha
hmmm, actually....
-
fuck well done villa close there with bacuna
-
Do your fucking hamstring again you little shit
-
Unlucky Bacuna there.
If that fucking snake sets up the winner he can cock off
-
Townsends reckon gana should have had a yellow there. Shut up Andy.
-
the cnut is appearing
-
I hope he pulls the hamstring coming on.
-

Just like he was against Swansea?
He played well against Swansea and then became the Gabby we have all been frustrated by against Spurs.
-
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
-
Hamstring, I hope he snaps his fucking knee in 2
-
hhhiiiiiissssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
-
cccccccccccccn uuuuuuuuuuuutttttttttttttttttttttttt
-
Sounds like something has woken the crowd up. Wonder what that could be?
-
Hamstring, I hope he snaps his fucking knee in 2
Mmmmm...yes, I can go with that, hope it fucking hurts
-
we fucking deserve a point now
-
Come on Villa you look OK today
-
Great noise in the park today.
-
The problem with booing players is it often comes back to bite you.
-
Inflatable snakes - well done whoever did that.
-
Fuck this is intense if nothing else.....not good on the old ticker.
-
How many players they had forward then.
Whoever just said about Gabby is spot on - if there was any sense, he would lose a couple of stone, and in the last 15 minutes of a game be a weapon.
Sanchez has been a fucking don.
Veretout will be a hell of a player after a few games.
-
Arses - bit of a wasted chance there.
-
Phew! Thought that was them in then
-
Shit me Amavi! What you doing son!
-
Rudy on!
-
This has been so engrossing, I've just realised I haven't had a beer!
-
Rudy G coming on
Ayew off
-
gestede on for ayew
-
Lovely build up there, but Amavi you can't commit like that.
-
Veretout reminds me a bit of Barry you know, the way he moves with the ball. Bit faster, but then so is my nan and I buried her 10 years ago.
Well played Ayew. Worked his nads off and did really, really well.
-
must say sanchez has been great today so far
-

Sanchez has been a fucking don.

A leaner Gabby would be a faster, stronger option than anything we have right now. Late in the game he can hold up play, chase down tired defenders. No defender would want him playing up and tight because he can turn and get away. I really hope he is motivated to become that player in the last few years of his career.
-
Gestede. We might start lumping it now. That's ok though.
-
Rudy, correct decision.
-
Here we go - balls out to the end...!
lets make something happen.
-
Oh god NZogbia diving on the floor.
-
Rudy is defo not quick
-
Whatever happens between now and the end this has been so encouraging.
-
corner villa
-
I'm still bracing myself for the inevitable so I won't be disappointed when that young striker scores in a bit
-
Whatever happens between now and the end this has been so encouraging.
You are right. Green shoots and all that.
-
Oh dear. Gestede can't do that.
-
Now one good cross and steal all 3 points. Please!!
-
Clear instructions from Garde to Veretout there. Interesting - think he is going to be vital in the next few months I really do.
Gueye surprisingly has been our least effective forward.
Don't score here Villa
Don't be that club.
-
Good, fuck em, a bit of fighting spirit.
-
gestede to score?
-
Shit me Gestede should score there!
-
Nice one Rudy - Hart you are an idiot
-
That was ace!
-
wasnt the best corner really - needed a header from rudy
-
*chortle*
-
Nice touch from Rudy there, close.
-
I really hope he is motivated to become that player in the last few years of his career.
That's the challenge that should be put to him but I don't see him, Gestede or Sinclair good enough technically for the type of football Garde wants us to play.
-
That was ace!
Cheeky as fuck ;D ;D
-
And it was actually a foul throw by Gestede!
-
Hart was at fault he should have let it go out.
-
Bad form that Gestede :(
-
wasnt the best corner really - needed a header from rudy
Anything to get through this 4
-
Seeing the reverse angle replay I think Gestede tried to tell Hart he was putting it out for a goal kick.
-
If Hart couldn't control the ball, all he had to do was let it go out of play.
-
Free kick ref!!
-
free kick there
-
Christ 4 minutes
-
Fuck my christ.
-
fuck they hit bar
-
Bad form that Gestede :(
Are you kidding, he indicated he was throwing it out for a goal kick. It was hart at fault.
-
Should have got the free kick on half way!
Come on Villa, hold out.
A point would be massive.
-
feck me that was close
-
and inches wide our luck turns
-
About time lady luck showed her fucking face.
-
Veretout is dead on his feet..
-
Bad form that Gestede :(
It's about time we stopped being so nice.
-
Andy Townsend could do with shutting the fuck up
-
Jesus H Christ
-
Fuck sake lads - keep it together.
-
Claim Guzan.
Come on Villa.
Comeeee on.
-
Fuck me. I can't take much more of this.
-
Bloody nora
-
fuck me. I just laid enough bricks for a new house
-
guzan saves and block
-
Amavi's been in a game today hasn't he!
-
Bloody hell, heart attack time now......
-
Good hands Brad
-
Come on Villa....
Fucking Navas is always free get on him!!!
-
commeeee onnnnnnn.... nearly there....
-
Blow up ref.
-
proud of them today
-
yessss fucking great point!!!!!!
-
That should be it! Bugger me, and it is!
-
Point. Get the fuck in.
Well done Remi!
-
great result
-
onnnnnnneeeeeeeeeeeeeee pppppppppppppppppppppooooooooooooooooiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnntttttt!
-
It's only a matter of time.
Til we get the draw!
-
Fanfuckintastic result!!!
-
Come on Villa! We did really bloody well today! Rode our luck but we were due some. Up the Villa!
-
What a performance. The Remi Garde revolution starts.
-
bottom of the league? that was a good show today
-
Efforts like this against teams that isn't built by gazillions of cash and we might have a chance at staying up.
