Title: Sunderland (a) 1990-91

V important 3 points this which went a long way towards keeping us up and arguably Cascarino's finest day in a Villa shirt. Around this time we beat Spurs 3-2 with a Platty hat-trick too. Loved that kit.

That game almost certainly made us safe. The Spurs game was class, 3-0 and strolling before letting in two second half goals and hanging on.

I'm clearly visible at the back of the stand with my arms aloft after Tony Cascarino made it 1-0 (about 1.05)  ;D

The rick the Sunderland keeper made was his second one for us that season. He let a really weak Tony Daley shot go through his hands in the home game.

Went to this one on Premier, got pissed on Diamond White as the pub we stopped at on the way ran out of lager and bitter by the time we got to the bar. From recollection it also pissed it down on that open terrace for about 15 minutes in the 1st half. I seem to recall wearing a red blue and green Nevica ski jacket!

I remember having to run the gauntlet of their version of a schoolboy style wall of death by having to walk past them all lining up at bus stops as we came out of the ground. They didn't like Cascarino and were giving him stick throughout the game as his goals had sent them down in a promotion/relegation play off when he was at Gillingham. For some reason I seem to remember it was also the day Chelsea beat Arsenal to stop them having an unbeaten season in the league that year.

And he still managed to look like someone we'd picked up from a local park on the way up.

The one on one was bad enough, but that mishit volley that ultimately led to the third goal was something else.

The volley deflected for the second goal was heading for the corner flag.

I would argue though his finest day was a few weeks before this game, away at Forest in a two all draw, when he played like Pele and gave Des Walker a roasting.

I was another Premier passenger that day but quite how anyone can recall how much it was OR what they were wearing is beyond me.  I can't even remember who I went with!  I do remember the wind and rain though. Great days
