We've not been battered by anyone which is why I have faith that we can turn it around. I can see a hard fought 1-1 here.

Why did you have to say that?
That said how often does a team hand out 2 twattings back to back?

Either KMAC picks a bizarre / conservative / meat & veg 442 and we'll lose 3-0 or he'll pick something that actually plays to our strengths and we'll get a 2-2 draw "to stop the rot"

I do fancy us to get a result though, probably a 1-1 draw.

I can't fully express how much confidence I've gained today after seeing K-Mac's piece on the BBC interweb wotsit: especially his near-Churchillian utterance of "If I'm in charge on Monday (at Tottenham) and we win, that'll set everything going again."

If that doesn't stir the loins of every Villain and put fear in the minds of the Tottingham fancy dans - then we should all give up & go shopping of a matchday.

4-1 Spuds.

I'll be watching this in the same Inverness pub I saw us batter Blues 1-0 in which may be a good omen. Then again I'm not superstitious and we're even crapper now than then so I have no hesitation in predicting a 4-0 reverse.

On the face of it, you can't see past a home win. However, Spurs flatter to deceive almost as often as us so it wouldn't be a total shock if we somehow came away with something and boy do we need something.

We'll dick around for a good 40 mins then capitulate just before half time. Then as we chase the game we leave gaps you could drive the team bus through and they score again.
Up steps kojak from the bench and slots three past them in as many minutes.
3 us 2 them.

Cue fans going wild and i can watch motd for the first time this season.

I've gone all statistician and looked at current trends over what seems like my entire f##king lifetime and plumped for a home slaughter win. As long as it's a nice game played in the right spirit who cares.  Sorry, I'm trying to be strong, like a priest in Dublin's biggest lingerie department but the pressure is getting too much.

Dont think Crespo has done much wrong in his limited appearances, might be an option for RCB.

Cant see Hutton getting dropped though, one of our more committed players despite his limitations.

Amavi can have no excuses about getting dropped, Richardson or not.

Just thought the same watching that clip. It was a position we didn't have to think about when he was on the scene. When you think about all the problems we've had with full backs since, it's depressing. I was at this Spurs game, as well as the Fulham game when Bocanegra scythed him down.

Promisingly, KMac has said that he got the tactics 'wrong' against Southampton - meaning, presumably, the rigid 4-4-2 with its accompanying lumped-in crosses to the Big Bloke. He changed it during the match as well, so let's hope we see something different against Spurs. Anyway, the 4-4-2 wasn't that bad when we were just sitting in - it was when the midfielders tiptoed forward that the great chasm yawned open between them and the defence, leading to the embarrassing first goal.

It was awful. Stripey nonsense, the wrong colour shorts and the claret was way off, as it was for much of the early 2000s.

Just watched Kmac's press conference on AVTV. Lord help us.

He's not the most inspiring is he? Then again Sherwood often said a lot of the right things and it ended up a load of bollocks. I just pray he's saying the right things and picking the right team for Monday. We don't need to be in a bigger hole than the one the previous manager left us in.

No offense to Spurs or us, but Spurs have an Europa game on Thursday, so they might rest players against us, thinking that we might be an easy game.

Its possible that they might regret a tactic if they do it.

Much as I'd like to see Okore get a game, not on the left side. If he's going to play, shove Richards out to right back and get Clark in on the left side.

I'd go;
Guzan

Okore
Richards
Clark
Crespo

Gana
Sanchez
Veretout

Gil
Gabby

Ayew

Presuming Crespo can play left back, we need a back four who will put themselves on the line whilst we get a couple of results - Amavi will eventually be the man but at the mo a Crespo or Richardson might be the option.

I would never start a game with any two of Gil / Grealish / Sinclair whilst we are in trouble, the lack of defending from the front those three offer is appalling & isn't offset by what they offer in attack at this point so it is one passenger only.

Okore could do a job at right back IMHO, he'd defend better than Hutton, we'd probably find out that he can cross a ball better than Hutton too :-) not difficult

What will be really funny is when Scudamore & co. start issuing edicts that PL teams have to take it seriously to preserve the PL European coefficient to keep the 4th CL spot, given how poorly English teams are doing in both.

I thought the double barrel full backs worked well at Southampton. Where we fell down was playing two up front at the expense of an extra central midfielder, and the fact that the two that were picked there were a bit shite. In addition, Hutton is a liability regardless of formation.

Guzan
Crespo, Richards,  Clark, Amavi
Sanchez Ganna
Bacuna Vertout Richardson
Ayew

Bunn, Lescott, Okore, Gil,  Westwood, Sinclair, Gestede

I have just seen the footage on SSN of the team standing on the platform of Birmingham International waiting for the train to take them to London.
Is this the best preparation for a game?

I'm sure it has its merits, but it all seemed a bit cheap and unprofessional.
I wonder if any any premier league teams travel by train in this way.

And, if we MUST travel by train, why the fuck haven't the club got a private train for the boys.

Some will not let that get in the way of having a pop at the club

This really is trying hard to find something to moan about. I think first class train is a clear upgrade on coach travel.

Other clubs do use trains - a few months ago I was on a train from Liverpool to London when the Everton team plus Roberto Martinez got on at Runcorn. The conductor wished em well despite being "a red", and they got whisked off to a waiting coach at Euston.

Go for it I say.... Westwood and gabby nowhere near the pitch please

I think I'd play Ayew up front.

My team for tonight:

Guzan

Hutton
Richards
Clark
Amavi

Sanchez
Gaga

Gil
Vertout
Grealish

Sinclair/Kozak

Go for it I say.... Westwood and gabby nowhere near the pitch please

I'd go with something very similar - Adama in the three behind the striker rather than one of Gil or Grealish and definitely Ayew up top

We'll still get hammered but should have a decent shape!

I think Man U always travel to London away games by train. I've seen the whole Argentinuan squad on a Pendolino heading up to Manc as well.

There was that kerfuffle after the Stoke - Arsenal match last season with Arsenal supporters shouting at the team while they were all waiting for the same train home.

We'll need more than a third strip then. Probably the last 5 season's worth might cover it.

Good way of distracting the Spurs midfield mind, sort of the opposite of Ferguson's grey strip excuse all of those years ago.

I'd never thought about it before but it's probably a lot quicker to travel to Euston by train and have a coach waiting than to be stuck on the M1 for an eternity.
Is Sherwood the coach driver, at least he can put his knowledge to some use now.

Christ, how far has this club fallen!!

They need to do it in the style of the supporters back in the day, cattle class, all shit faced for the entire 2 hour journey, noisy and obscene chanting all the way, trying to hang out of the windows and trying to rock the fucker once it gets to the station. Might build up some team spirit.

I would play Gabby up front. He is next to useless at home these days but in a game where we are likely to be playing on the break, he can be useful. I understand why people would not want him in the team but it's worth remembering that the only time he has played up front on his todd of late was at Leicester, when we put in our best attacking performance of the season (and Grealish and Gil looked much better than they have for the rest of the campaign as well). I would probably still play just one of the latter two as we're away and stick Ayew in for his pace and work rate on the break.

He'd probably put one of the front wheels where the steering wheel should be, re-wire everything so the brake and accelerator pedals were reversed and then run out of fuel half way towards his destination because he'd looked at the map upside down.

Last time we went to Tottenham in November without a manager....1994 and we won 4-3 with goals from Atkinson, Fenton (2) and Saunders. I was there, and it was a great away day. I'm going to predict the same score line tonight, Gestede, Grealish (2) and Sinclair.

I'm really hoping Gestede doesn't start tonight because it completely dictates how we play. I'd sooner we go with a far more technical approach and pass and think our way to victory.

Fuck over twice, firstly Fernandez should have been punished and now the timing of this. I'm surprised they didn't let him have his warm up, line up on the pitch then tell us if he doesn't come off they'll dock us points. Fa wankers, Spurs wankers, I really want to win tonight.
