Got charged with improper conduct following the weekend - will that mean a ban I guess for our best defender?
-
And no action to be taken on the initial incident.
FF must be pissing himself with joy

Aston Villa defender Micah Richards has been charged with improper conduct after an incident in the tunnel at the end of Saturday's game with Swansea.
The tunnel was seen to be shaking as stewards rushed to calm tensions after the Swans' 2-1 Premier League win.
The 27-year-old has until 18:00 GMT on Thursday to reply.
However, no action will be taken over a clash between Richards and Federico Fernandez.
The incident, which happened during the game, was missed by the match officials but captured on video and referred to the three-strong former elite referee panel.
It was Villa's sixth straight league defeat and was followed by the sacking of manager Tim Sherwood on Sunday.

Good job we have a better CB pairing in Okore & Clark back from injury
-
if he pleads guilty now and gets a 1 match ban, isn't that tomorrows match?

Pathetic.
-
Been charged but no ban expected, I can't remember where I read it. Probably from newsnow.
-
I don't mind it. Shows they have spirit. I don't want a Villa team of pussycats. Fuck 'em. Fucking sheep fanciers.
-
Fernandez threw his arm across the face of Richards causing Richards to confront him. The fact Fernandez then appeared to headbutt him obviously counts for nothing with the FA. Maybe if Richards had rolled around on the ground in a Robbie Savage bitch style they might have had to act but considering Fernandez didn't even get a yellow card, never mind a red, tells you more about how poor the refereeing level is at the moment.

And that includes the "elite' panel too

That is opinion based.

Skipper Micah Richards gives his take on Tim Sherwood's sacking at Aston Villa http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/tim-sherwood-needed-more-time-
Richards worried he'll end up at right back
-
Isn't talking about 'our best defender' a bit like talking about 'Holland's tallest mountain' anyway?
-
Sky headlines "Richards criticises club for Sherwood sacking" the report then hears him say that T'S was good for him personally. He must have had a bang on the head as he then said we had played really good football!!!!
He also said a french speaking coach might help the french lads but we are in England. Thanks micah, ukips aston representative
-
I thought his comments were fine tbh.
-
Reminds me of when he came out to the press to say he recommended cityto the snake.
He is a half decent defender but he hasnt endeared himself to me

Apart from the Sherwood love-in being a bit much, I don't see a lot to get worked up over.
Aston Villa captain Micah Richards thinks it is a shame that Tim Sherwood was not given more time to get the club moving in the right direction.
Sherwood was sacked by Villa on Sunday after just eight months in charge, following a 2-1 home loss to Swansea.
That was a sixth successive Premier League defeat for Villa and they are now bottom of the table after Sunderland won on Sunday afternoon.
However, Sherwood did manage to keep the club in the top flight last season and Richards thinks the club may have been a little premature.
"Tim was unbelievable for me," said the 27-year-old defender. "I think he has got me back to my best.
"I feel comfortable. He gave me the captain's armband, which was a massive confidence boost. Tim was great for me but we know that, in football, if you are not getting results, clubs look to make changes.
"I think Leicester was a turning point in our season. When you are playing outstanding football and go 2-0 up, and then find yourselves 3-2 down at the end of the game, I think that knocked a bit of confidence out of the lads.
"For 70 minutes it was not like the Aston Villa of the last two years. They did not have the free-flowing football that Tim brought here.
"I wish he had a little bit more time, because I think he was on to a really good thing. But when you are not winning, decisions like that are going to get made."
Former Lyon manager Remi Garde has been strongly linked with the Villa post and has pulled out of planned media work for French TV this weekend.
Richards added: "I will respect any manager who comes in.
"I will give 100 per cent and so will all the lads that are here. No player wants to find themselves out of the team.
"The manager who comes in needs to be able to get us going straight away. We have got no time to settle in or blend in."
Richards agrees that the French players in the squad might benefit from Garde's arrival but hopes the potential new boss is multi-lingual.
"If they speak French obviously it is going to be easier for them to understand how they are to play," said Richards.
"But let's hope he speaks as good English as he does French!
"When I went to Fiorentina, I had to learn Italian. There were certain things I did not understand but I had to try and adapt."

I agree on both points.
I can't shake the feeling he views us a "least bad" option

Aye, I actually was happy to read this bit. If the captain knows it then at least we dont have our heads in the sand.

Apparently TS got him back to his best. No me neither...

How about you guys get your fucking selves going?
-
All Micah had to do was to check with Patrick Viera who would have told him all he needs to know about Garde. What Micah will not like is the fact that Garde has never heard of him.His ego will be damaged beyond repair!
I can remember when he was interviewed when he was a kid..He said something like All black lads aspire to having a flash car and a diamond in their ear.Not exactly Micah there are other things!
I do agree, however,he has performed very well for us this season Sets a high standard in footballing ability
-
I look forward to seeing him make rampaging runs forward at right full back soon.
He's positioning is too poor to be a centre half, but as a full back, he looks like he plays a different sport compared to Hutton or Bacuna.
-
He's accepted the charge
-
So he'll most likely be out of Monday's game.

Do we know if it's a 1 or 3 game ban?
-
Stick at fullback, we have to do what's best for the club not him.

No information yet, but hopefully just the one.

Thank you

It was bad enough firstly Richards continuing his spat with Fernandez, when he should be getting back to defend their impending attack, but to then continue it, in the tunnel is totally irresponsible not only as a player, but even more so as a captain.
He has let the club and the fans down badly.

I echo this. His temperament got better of him. Its no defence but he seemed to understand the need to win he was fired up and needs to focus his energy on his performance and leading the team. Perhaps on this occasion the pressure getting to much and that gabby agbonlahor will continue as captain

Agree, we just need a manager with big enough balls to tell him that's his position. He's had a few marauding runs through the middle for us usually towards the end of the game when we're chasing a result and not a lot can stop him. At right back he'd get the chance to do that on a regular basis.
-
I find Micah can be too over enthusiastic with his headers at attacking set plays and if he relaxed a bit would probably score. At times he plays with something to prove born on frustration with past injuries and his shunning at man city. He hasn't got the ill discipline of joey Barton or even Stevie errand but does lack discipline for his position and status as captain. That said I do admire his passion and determined efforts. Richards would be better deployed at right back. As for his ball carrying I think he seems to over do that and often over runs the ball. I'd like someone to put there arm round him and get him back to basics. Seems happy to be playing regularly and just needs to enjoy it.
-

I have a horrible feeling, admittedly based on nothing whatsoever, that he has the CB position in his contract.
-
Surely you can't have a clause saying I must play centre half
-
Maybe he tries to hard cause he is sick of watching some of the dross that is going on in front of him
-

You'd hope not, but I honestly have no idea. I'm probably talking bollocks.
-
I agree with Villa Lew,to act like he did at the time of the incident was bad,but to do what he did in the tunnel was just idiotic .No way would he be captain in my opinion

I think it depends on what he reacted to in the first incident

As misplaced as it was at least he appears to give a shit and seemed to recognise the magnitude of the Swansea game and the probable consequences of losing. The frustration levels must be off the scale playing in this team especially if watching them is anything to go by.
-
Micah is on Football Focus in 10 mins.
-
He came across like a sulking kid. Surprised to learn Villa have been playing some great football this season, he must be easily pleased.
-
He'll fall in line and say all of the right things when the new manager arrives. It's the way it goes.
-
Ffs well done fa. Just been announced he is banned to tonight. Sky breaking news as he is filmed arriving at spurs

Banned an hour before kick off? Fucking ridiculous, can you imagine them treating any of their favourites that way? We've planned to play with him in the system. Completely amateurish. Wankers FA.
-
That should not be allowed. The FA should have banned him tomorrow morning not an hour before a game.
-
maybe he was told earlier and still made the trip down with the squad as captain. If it was only an hour before agree entirely that is ludicrous.
-
What an absolute piss-take from the FA.

I can understand that once the ban was announced, then it needs to be enacted straight away. However they should either announce bans with 24 hours notice before a game or wait until after the next one. I expect we need to call Dave to the thread on all things football, but I have never seen this happen before.
Just a shame it is us and not Chelsea playing tonight, but I expect that if it was, his ban would have been announced tomorrow.
-
It's lousy timing but I reckon he'd rather miss tonight than the City game on Sunday.
-
The FA really are utter fucking clowns.
-
As is Richards for getting himself in this position in the first place
-
I've wanted him at full back since he arrived. After Clark and Lescott tonight...
-
No action against Diego Costa either.

Natch
-
If he don't improve his behaviour, he could lose his captaincy to others players. 9
-
No surprise though, eh?
The FA have always had it in for us, ever since they suspended Bruce Rioch for a month for accumulated bookings the very first time he appeared before their disciplinary committee back in 1971!
