Villa: Guzan, Hutton, Richards, Lescott, Richardson, Gil, Gana, Westwood, Ayew, Gestede, Grealish
Subs: Bunn, Bacuna, Sinclair, Traore, Crespo, Sanchez, Amavi
Amavi dropped for Richardson. Ace
-
Richardson in at left back, Amavi on the bench. Ayew, Gil and Grealish all behind Gestede
-
So the left side of the defence is Lescott and Richardson. I feel better already
-
Could be a very open game
-
Surprised at the team, but shouldn't really seeing how Dim Sherwood still doesn't know his best team or formation.
-
Chelsea
01 Begovic
28 Azpilicueta
26 Terry
05 Zouma
06 Baba
07 Ramires
36 Loftus-Cheek
22 Willian
04 Fābregas
17 Pedro
19 Diego Costa
Substitutes
08 Oscar
10 Hazard
12 Mikel
18 Remy
21 Matic
24 Cahill
27 Blackman
-
Sanchez and Amavi on the bench. The thick fucker.
-
So the left side of the defence is Lescott and Richardson. I feel better already
This could be double figures.
-
amavi dropped?
take it veretout is injured, plenty of creativity but we look very lightweight in the middle. nice to see teachers pet is undroppable
-
Westwood is still there. Fuck this, I've lost interest already. Fuck off.
-
We will get mullered through the middle. Far too open.
Where is Veretout - injured?
-
Where is Veretout? I half expected, after his comments re new signings, that he would replace most of them with the old guard so maybe Richsrdson for Amavi is a nod to that. I have more time for Richardson than most on here but Amavi is one of the few that have hit the ground running...
-
Clark - injured?
-
I will neither be watching or listening to the game. Sherwood has gone to a new level of idiocy by dropping Amavi and Veretout. I shall tune in to the Rugby.
It will be less stressful.
-
There are two players that will never get dropped when fit under Sherwood. One is Westwood, we all know the other. I just don't understand how an international player, recently captain for his country and a specialist defensive midfielder wouldn't be employed in a game like this. I would have Gana and Sanchez to protect the back four and allow Gil and Grealish to then do their thing.
Here's the other thing. If you are going to pick Gestede, why on earth would you not then select the player who has most effective in providing him with the crosses? And on the other side we have the marauding Hutton. I don't understand this selection at all, and especially at FB. It's clear to me he has picked a defensive back four and not one that will push forward, or if they do, well heaven help us.
-
Hutton, Lescott, Richardson, Westwood-garbage footballers.
You've had two weeks to put out an inspiring, decent team. And these 4 are in? Sherwood......sigh
-
It's a brave line up. I'd have put an extra midfielder in there but their defence is dodgy and Terry's not having a good time of it so who knows.
-
Hang on, hold yer horses, I've just realised the logic of dropping Sanchez and Amavi. The plan is to play shit in the first half and shock Mourinho by putting our best players on in the second.
He's not called 'Tactics' for nothing.
-
It's a brave line up. I'd have put an extra midfielder in there but their defence is dodgy and Terry's not having a good time of it so who knows.
Terry could play this game blindfolded and he'd still have Gestede in his pocket.
-

This. Swapping rugby for Breaking Bad.
I keep hoping Sherwood will redeem himself....and then this. A prize cock.
-
the plan this week is to be shit for 90 minutes
-
Westwood is still there. Fuck this, I've lost interest already. Fuck off.
Agreed
-
I think he must be wanting the sack and the pay off and is determined to take us as far down the tubes with him as he can. You actually begin to wonder if he is taking the piss deliberately. It will be all over I suspect by the time I start watching Wales vs SA so at least I can relax and enjoy the rugby for what it is.
-

Indeed. We may as well rope off the middle of the park, lay down a red carpet and invite them to walk through.
-

What's astonishing is that he's had two weeks to really think about this and this is what he came up with. How on earth is that back four keeping Costa quiet on his first game back? It's going to be backs to the walls unless Chelsea are significantly more shit than they have been this season.
-
Gil, Ayew, Gestede and Grealish all playing he is asking for a hammering here.
-
Sorry but I think this is enough ..... Amavi possibly best player this season dropped for Richardson ....words defy me. Solid midfield need today so Sanchez on the bench ........
This could be 5 or 6 today
But of course Sherwood knows exactly what he is doing
Sorry Tim but today is the end ....resign at 5pm live on the radio after we have been hammered !
-
On paper, that back four would look shit even in the Championship
I fear a right tonking
5-0
-
We're either gonna score a hatful, but still struggle to stop them scoring more, or struggle to get out of our own half as they score for fun. Can't see it finishing goalless. Not optimistic. Lescott, Richardson, Westwood. No Sanchez. Ayew AND Grealish AND Gil. Hmmm.
-
He's a moron. Sack soon please.
-
Gil, Ayew, Gestede and Grealish all playing he is asking for a hammering here.
That's not as much the problem, as if you are going to play all four how are you protecting them so they can have some freedom? There is not point having them if the rest of the side cannot retain possession and play in the Chelsea half. Gana is going to be really exposed in the middle.
-
This could be 5 or 6 today
Right now I'd take 5.
-
Amavi out for Richardson? Mental. Oh well come on Villa.
-
Once again I'm left bewildered by the starting lineup and can't quite work out the formation...is it a flat 442, 442 diamond or 451???
Pleased to see Ayew getting a start although this may not be the best game to bring him in; Amavi being dropped for Richardson seems more of a defensive minded decision so dont expect our FBs to be getting forward; Sanchez must be knackered after only returning on Thursday.
Apparently this is the "best villa side to get at Chelsea"...I dont quite see it like that.
-
On paper, that back four would look shit even in the Championship
I fear a right tonking
5-0
Richards aside that is a terrible line up. Add Westwood into the mix.
-
I wonder what odds you can get on Chelsea scoring the first within 2 minutes?
-
...or has he gone 4231?
Guzan
Hutton, Richards, Lescott, Richardson
Westwood, Gana
Gil, Grealish, Ayew
Gestede
-
How is Richardson a better bet than Amavi? It is not like he is more defensive.
No creativity at home vs Stoke, no defensive solidity away at a wounded Chelsea. He is clueless.
-
It's a brave line up. I'd have put an extra midfielder in there but their defence is dodgy and Terry's not having a good time of it so who knows.
Terry could play this game blindfolded and he'd still have Gestede in his pocket.
Like the Liverpool defence did?
In some ways, it's a similar line up to Leicester. Two fowards, with Gil and Grealish behind them. If he's have packed out the midfield, he might have been moaned at for not being more attacking and having a go.
-
I wonder what odds you can get on Chelsea scoring the first within 2 minutes?
If you're that convinced, have a look.
-
Or 4132:
Hutton, Richards, Lescott, Richardson
Westwood
Gil, Gana, Grealish
Gestede, Ayew
-
Steve Stride on twitter - Apart from the keeper anyone of their subs would be our star player !
-

I think the attacking players he has chosen are fine Clamps. It's the players he has chosen to support and allow them to do their job that I'm concerned about. What justification is there in dropping arguably our best player this season for Richardson. Or retaining Westwood?
-
A few months with the benefit of Sherwood's management and it seems a player who was supposedly the best left back in Europe last season (according to those stats they use these days) is now not as good as Kieron Richardson.
How to stop Ronaldo and Messi, give them to Sherwood for a couple of months.
-
The only consolation of that team selection is that it may hasten his departure ...
... Unless the strategy is for us to go 2-0 up and then bring on Sanchez to shore up the middle.
I'll leave you to decide how cunning you think TS has been.
-
It's all been said already. Richardson for Amavi wtf? Westwood still in, Sanchez on the bench, wtf x 2? Who out of Ayew, Gil and Grealish will be tracking back when we're under pressure? The remarks on other threads about a tombola being used to pick the team seem pretty spot on. I think this will be a pants-down-and-brace-for-the-spanking afternoon. Prove me wrong Tim. Or go.
-

Like I said earlier, i'd have thrown in another midfielder personally.
As for Amavi, that's an odd one. I wonder if he's carrying a knock?
-
We're going to get roundly smashed. Richardson, for fuck's sake.
-
He's throwing darts and a dartboard to pick the team, unfortunately he's like the shit team mate on bullseye at it.
-
We're going to get roundly smashed. Richardson, for fuck's sake.
More than likely. Sanchez for Westwood and Amavi for Richardson and I'd be feeling better about things. As it is...
-
Let's see what happens :/
-
Looks like he's picked a "broken team", 6 to sit deep (hence no Amavi) and the other 4 to stay up top. Can work sometimes, but other times the guys up top get starved of the ball and you play 6 v 10.
-
Sanchez just back from international duty so probably jet lagged to feck. Amavi is great going forwards but at fault defensively a few times? Ah sure well know at 5pm how crap the line up is. I just hope its not a cricket score again.....
-
Gil and fairy Grealish in the same team; ridiculous! Glad now that this is the first game I've missed this season.
-
That line-up though.
-
I would probably have gone with Richardson over Amavi at left back, but would of moved him to left midfield where his crosses can do some damage. Amavi also plays midfield for France.
I would of gone with:
Guzan
Hutton Richards Lescott Richardson
Traore Sanchez Gana Amavi
Grealish/Gil
Gestede/Ayew
-

I think we will find there will be a massive gap between the defence and forwards because our midfield will either sit too deep or won't be able to keep possession. If we can keep possession when we have it and run at them we have a chance. It's when we don't, can we stop them from playing with it, and if we win it back how far away are the attacking players?
-
Amavi is certainly a strange one but keep it tight for the first 45 minutes and once they have to start having to stretch themselves looking for a goal I'd bring on Amavi for Gil (or one of those players)
-
On that team selection it is clear that Sherwood wants away.
-
Purely an observation...10 of the new players are in todays match squad; 5 of them are starting. Not sure whats happened to Veretout as no mention of an injury.
-
I would probably have gone with Richardson over Amavi at left back, but would of moved him to left midfield where his crosses can do some damage. Amavi also plays midfield for France.
I would of gone with:
Guzan
Hutton Richards Lescott Richardson
Traore Sanchez Gana Amavi
Grealish/Gil
Like that, are you available from 5pm?
Gestede/Ayew
-
Veretout =evergreen? Dropped at first sign of autumn so deciduous
-
We're going to get roundly smashed. Richardson, for fuck's sake.
More than likely. Sanchez for Westwood and Amavi for Richardson and I'd be feeling better about things. As it is...
My thoughts exactly TV.
-
Gil, Ayew, Gestede and Grealish all playing he is asking for a hammering here.
The Lambert Bradford "tactics"
Is he deliberately trying to get sacked?
-
That midfield is going to get fucking slaughtered
-
It's a brave line up. I'd have put an extra midfielder in there but their defence is dodgy and Terry's not having a good time of it so who knows.
There's a difference between brave and suicidal.
-
Bloody hell, it's tough finding a stream today.
-

Broken team? They bloody well will be by 5pm.
-
Lumped on +2.5 goals 61% ROCI
-
Lumped on +2.5 goals 61% ROCI
You what?
-
Bloody hell, it's tough finding a stream today.
Go on reddit, they'll have loads of links on the football sub-reddit
-
I've had Chelsea with a four goal handicap
-
Lumped on +2.5 goals 61% ROCI
You what?
He's placed money on himself being 2.5 times more miserable than he usually is by 5pm. I disagree that there is only a 61% chance of that being the case.
-
Still not losing, get in.
-
So Amavi and Veretout aren't injured? We all know that for definite yes????
Come on Villa!
-
Bloody hell, it's tough finding a stream today.
Go on reddit, they'll have loads of links on the football sub-reddit
Cheers, Stupot.
-
Westwood has already given the ball away twice in dangerous areas.
-
Astonishingly we have had a shot on goal inside 10 minutes and have had, so far more of the ball than Chelsea.
-
Westwood has already given the ball away twice in dangerous areas.
Because he's Blues.
-
Not too bad so far
-
Wasted opportunity there.
-
Just switched on... Hutton just missed 2 chances to get Gestede in!
Where the fuck is Veretout? One of few to play well against Stoke. Sherwood is a muppet.
-
Hutton HAD to pull that back. Did well in the first place to get there
-
Hutton should have done better.
Their left back is shit. There is joy to be had there.
-
Started well to be fair
-
We are pressing in their half.
That's a major improvement.
-
Hutton should have done better.
Their left back is shit. There is joy to be had there.
That back four is awful frankly. We have to believe we can win and at least we appear to be trying to get behind them. If we do manage to get in front that crowd will turn on the players quickly. It's if we go behind they are likely to grow in confidence. They are the champions after all.
-
We complain about not being able to get the ball into Gestede.
Hutton is gifted two glorious opportunities to do so and doesn't!
-
That was a goal kick - ref frightened about Moaninho's comments
-
C'mon ref. How much time you adding on?
-
Yep their left back looks dodgy
-
I think Tim has spotted something.
Jack is now pushed over the right to heap the pressure on their left back.
-
Yep their left back looks dodgy
We definitely need to capitalise on that before "The special one" makes a change.
-
Yep their left back looks dodgy
Made for Adama to rip him a new one.
-
Yep their left back looks dodgy
Made for Adama to rip him a new one.
Was thinking the same thing. Have Jack soften him up and Adama to come on and finish him off.
-
Yep their left back looks dodgy
We definitely need to capitalise on that before "The special one" makes a change.
Our "special one" or theirs?
-
Early scores
Man City 2-0 Bournemouth
Everton 0-1 Man U
Southampton 1-0 Leicester
-
Yep their left back looks dodgy
We definitely need to capitalise on that before "The special one" makes a change.
Our "special one" or theirs?
Ha-ha that did make me chuckle.
-
It'll be Westwood who will cost us a goal.
-
Jack having a good game
-
Man City 2-1 Bournemouth
Palace 0-1 West Ham
Everton 0-2 Man U
-
'Kiss of death' alert but, Chelsea look about as ordinary as I've seen them in recent years and we look crisp and confident (if a little toothless)
-
Jack having a good game
Yep, we need to keep giving him the ball. Its a shame we don't seem to make the most of the set pieces he wins for us.
-
Overall it's a pretty drab affair from two relegation threatened sides.
-
Got to stop the fouling.
-
Stupid foul westwood
-
fairy Grealish
The what?
-
shit thought that wss it
-
Westwood really is poor at this level. Why Sherwood picks him every week beggars belief
-
thats a bloody good chance there
-
grealish and ayew doing well there
-
Great chance there.
-
He's too slow and weak, proper lower championship level player.
-
Great move very unlucky.
-
Should have scored
-
Should have stuck that away Gestede
-
guzaqn you fucking twat
-
get rid of that keeper now
-
ah marvellous
-
Fucking guzan
-
The co commentator loves Jack. He's looking to praise Jack at every opportunity.
-
Come on......
-
For fuck's sake. Another gift from our defenders
-
soon as he hit it I thought WTF
-
Yeah that's it, use your fucking shitty right foot to pass it.....DICK!!!
-
Fuck off Guzan
-
Oh Brilliant lets just gift them a goal. Bloody hell Guzan.
-
Jesus Christ Guzan
-
Fuck off to the U.S., you wanker, Guzan.
-
he makes me so angry
-
fucking hell. What other team does that?
-
Guzan again.
-
If I am going to feel sorry for Sherwood at all it is because of some of the fucking comedy defending and goalkeeping this season. No manager sends a team out and expects some of what we have seen this season to happen. Fucking dire.
-
i sorry he needs to fuck off - he keeps doing it
-
That should be a 1 in 300 game goalie mistake
-
Ffs. Kamikaze stuff.
-
What did he do?
-
Excellent stuff...
-
Can't keep doing this. Mark Bunn has to play and have a decent run.
-
We'd been playing ok the. The twat give lescott a half volley to control. Why didn't he just hit it up the pitch. Knob.
-
Jesus Guzan you pillock
-
Guzan has cost us loads of goals like that.
-
And i think we know the rest.
-
What did he do?
dodgy pass to Lescott
-
All that good work gone right down the shitter
-
Comedy of fucking errors, and I still reckon Costa looks like Chewbacca - the dirty, snidey shit.
-
Oh dear.
-
What did he do?
put lescott under pressure with one of his brilliant kick outs, whos control wasnt good and gifted the twats an easy chance
-
Well, that's that!
-
Costa first goal of season lol
-
We have a keeper and a striker who can't use their feet, fucking atrocious.
-
fkin Guzan. Again.
-
Guzan rubbish, Lescott rubbish. Prepare for more 'not my fault' stuff from Sherwood.
-
Guzan and Lescott are comic!
It is a pity because with the 4-2-3-1 that we have also sponsored we were not playing bad and certainly better than Chelsea....
-
Guzan rubbish, Lescott rubbish. Prepare for more 'not my fault' stuff from Sherwood.
He's hardly to blame for that
-
We truly are our own worst enemies so much of the time. If things weren't tough enough we find new and interesting ways of making things even more difficult. Two experienced players essentially undoing so much of the good work we have put in so far.
-
Although we have been pretty solid, there have been signs in the last 10 mins that we are going back into our shell.
Chelsea are growing into this.
-
We'd been playing ok the. The twat give lescott a half volley to control. Why didn't he just hit it up the pitch. Knob.
we should have been 1 up , playing ok against another releagation team , so a big six pointer and guzan does an absolute park pass.
-
Guzan's distribution is absolutely fucking atrocious.
-
Guzan rubbish, Lescott rubbish. Prepare for more 'not my fault' stuff from Sherwood.
Well it wasn't.
-
gil and jack doing well
-
Guzan apparently screwed up in the last minute against Mexico causing many an angry reaction from the US fans.
-
Guzan's distribution is absolutely fucking atrocious.
It's never been his strongpoint
-
Guzan rubbish, Lescott rubbish. Prepare for more 'not my fault' stuff from Sherwood.
He's hardly to blame for that
I don't think you can really blame Lescott either.
-
Jack having a good game
-
We were playing well. Gift for chelsea
-
Guzan rubbish, Lescott rubbish. Prepare for more 'not my fault' stuff from Sherwood.
Well it wasn't.
I think the point is that Sherwood will go into self-preservation mode.
-
Guzan's distribution is absolutely fucking atrocious.
He really does have bananas for feet.
-
Guzan apparently screwed up in the last minute against Mexico causing many an angry reaction from the US fans.
Guzan's issue is that he can ruin a perfectly solid display with a moment of utter madness. And unfortunately for us, those moments of madness are becoming more and more frequent.
-
Guzan is like a side comedy act amongst a festival of humour
-
Guzan rubbish, Lescott rubbish. Prepare for more 'not my fault' stuff from Sherwood.
Well it wasn't.
You never know. If they had an actual plan for playing out from the back rather than 'just play it sometimes whatever' then maybe they wouldn't be so dumb.
Then again, maybe they would. We've got numpties right the way through the club, from boardroom to pitch.
-
Guzan - get rid!!
-
Would you take him off at HT?
-
Guzan rubbish, Lescott rubbish. Prepare for more 'not my fault' stuff from Sherwood.
He's hardly to blame for that
Im afraid Given being allowed to leave without bringing in a proper replacement is.
-
they are dirty fucking bastards
-
richardson cock up
-
Guzan rubbish, Lescott rubbish. Prepare for more 'not my fault' stuff from Sherwood.
Well it wasn't.
I think the point is that Sherwood will go into self-preservation mode.
He might, but it doesn't change the fact that for that goal it had nothing to do with him. There's a million things to smash Sherwood for but if something genuinely has nothing to do with him, why be critical?
-
Bloody hell comedy defending AGAIN - lucky it didn't cost us
-
dont they give them yellow cards
-
He got to fucking book Costa there?
-
should have been two Chelsea yellow cards in a minute there, blatant too Fabregas and Costa (dive)
we started well. Been very impressed by Grealish and Gueye.
Absolutely woeful from Guzan and Lescott
-
Guzan rubbish, Lescott rubbish. Prepare for more 'not my fault' stuff from Sherwood.
He's hardly to blame for that
Im afraid Given being allowed to leave without bringing in a proper replacement is.
Given was hardly any better. It's why he's sat on the bench at Stoke.
-

Peter's got what I mean - everything's a shambles. Sherwood gets let off the hook for rubbish tactics by rubbish and insane individual errors.
-
Guzan apparently screwed up in the last minute against Mexico causing many an angry reaction from the US fans.
Guzan's issue is that he can ruin a perfectly solid display with a moment of utter madness. And unfortunately for us, those moments of madness are becoming more and more frequent.
Irrelevant to this game but guzan wasn't at fault for an of Mexicos goals, and the last minute oke was a screamer, a bit like sturridges against us the other week
-
Guzan rubbish, Lescott rubbish. Prepare for more 'not my fault' stuff from Sherwood.
Well it wasn't.
I think the point is that Sherwood will go into self-preservation mode.
So now Sherwood's getting slated for things you think he might say in the future, about an incident that it's hard to argue he should take blame for. Get a fucking grip.
-
Sigh. Guzan again, Lescott, again. Pair of fucktards.
-
dont they give them yellow cards
Ramires especially.
-

Maybe don't take everything so seriously.
-
why would you give the ball to lescott anyway - so thick
-
I'd like to see Guzan subbed at HT . Send a clear message out
-
I think we can honestly say that is the shittiest Chelsea team we have seen for many a year.
With belief, we are still in this.
-
Guzan rubbish, Lescott rubbish. Prepare for more 'not my fault' stuff from Sherwood.
He's hardly to blame for that

Given was hardly any better. It's why he's sat on the bench at Stoke.
Given wasn't better and Guzan was very good pre Sherwood. Looks like a shell of a keeper he once was.
-
Grealish's father seems to be doing the commentary on my stream.
-
With belief, we are still in this.
So game over then

Agreed, but we should have bought in a replacement, Bunn was not sufficient.

to be fair Given didnt make many howlers
-
Any changes required by Sherwood for the second half? No comedy replete please!

Peter's got what I mean - everything's a shambles. Sherwood gets let off the hook for rubbish tactics by rubbish and insane individual errors.
I think he's been well and truly criticized by almost everyone on here for his rubbish tactics in recent weeks. That hasn't been the case today. The tactics have been pretty sound overall, we should have taken the lead, and those tactics that seemed to be working now need to be changed because of individual errors. Not because of anything Chelsea really did.
-
One of our better performances.
-
Sigh. Guzman again, Lescott, again. Pair of fucktards.
You or your autocorrect always get Brad's surname wrong. Make it stop!
-
I'd like to see Guzan subbed at HT . Send a clear message out
I would be fuming with him and very tempted, but I would also be thinking that would be using up another sub option.
-
Guzan rubbish, Lescott rubbish. Prepare for more 'not my fault' stuff from Sherwood.
He's hardly to blame for that
Im afraid Given being allowed to leave without bringing in a proper replacement is.
Given was hardly any better. It's why he's sat on the bench at Stoke.
to be fair Given didnt make many howlers
No fair enough and he didn't really play enough anyway. But did you ever watch him trying to defend crosses?
-
With belief, we are still in this.
So game over then
Go out then.
Cut the grass or something.
-
Chelsea look a tired side and plain to see why they've got off to a bad start - teams that have a real go at them have every chance of winning. We started well but gifting them goals just puts any good work to waste. Sherwood can't be blamed for Guzan's stupidity - he needs to be dropped - surely Bunn can't be any worse
-
I think the tactics have been unspectacular - it's fairly standard sit-back-and-hope stuff. Bringing in Richardson for Amavi looks a terrible move, to be honest - he's been quite bad.
-
Sigh. Guzman again, Lescott, again. Pair of fucktards.
You or your autocorrect always get Brad's surname wrong. Make it stop!
Fucking autocorrect bastard.
-
Our chance in this game was going in front can't see us coming back now.
-
Pretty much any other team would be beating Chelsea at this point.
-
Sigh. Guzman again, Lescott, again. Pair of fucktards.
You or your autocorrect always get Brad's surname wrong. Make it stop!
That is how the commentator guy always says it though.
-
I think the tactics have been unspectacular - it's fairly standard sit-back-and-hope stuff. Bringing in Richardson for Amavi looks a terrible move, to be honest - he's been quite bad.
Well I certainly didn't expect anything spectacular in terms of tactics, but they had been sufficient up to the goal to match, even outwit Chelsea at times. The second point of not picking Amavi is indefensible. I have no idea what he was thinking or indeed what Richardson provides.
-
Individual errors once again, fairly good play but we didn't capitalise on it.
I expect us to come out under the cosh at half time strong character is needed to get through that period and try and salvage something from the game but i don't expect it.
-
why would you give the ball to lescott anyway - so thick
Maybe his instructions are to give it to the nearest defender rather than hoofball.
-
I'd like to see Guzan subbed at HT . Send a clear message out

Can't keep happening unpunished. He did this at palace in August too
-
With belief, we are still in this.
So game over then
Go out then.
Cut the grass or something.
We should still be in it.
-
First 16 mins we looked bright, after that... very dull.
-
In other games Man City winning 4-1 at HT vs Bournemouth including a Sterling hat trick.
-

Amavi is not undroppable. He normally drops at least 2 major bollocks a game
-
Guzan has been a great keeper, season after season but his biggest weakness has always been his kicking. I really wonder why despite having a goalkeeping coach, the issue has never been addressed. I read recently that before he decided to become a goalkeeper he was a midfielder. The mind boggles at just how poor a player he must have been. Bananas for feet.
-
Guzan should have spent the entire summer improving his kicking, how many points has he cost us the last 15 or so months? Even if he's been told to cut out long hoofs then his in game management should be telling him that smashing a ball at a defender under pressure is not a good move, keep it simple, get rid of it. He's shit. His shot stopping isn't even that good.
-
Sigh. Guzman again, Lescott, again. Pair of fucktards.
You or your autocorrect always get Brad's surname wrong. Make it stop!
i don't think his name will figure too much after this latest escapade, after all, we've got several ready made repla............. oh actually, cancel that - check your autocorrect.
-

For Richardson he is.
-
Get Amavi and Traore on to rip their FB's to shreds. Need to come out and have a real go at them - we could still get something out of this
-

As opposed to Richardson, who usually drops at least 2 a half.
I'm with Toronto, the bog-standard tactics aren't doing too badly today (although Gestede has been anonymous and done nothing - maybe if Ayew was up front and we had another midfielder in there Gil wouldn't have to come so deep so much?). However, bringing in Richardson is without logic.

this!
-
We've competed fairly well and haven't been overrun, despite having Gil, Grealish and Ayew on. Clearly they've been instructed to work harder tracking back, and it's had the desired effect of making us more solid. We haven't created much, mind, but then Chelsea are keeping their shape well and not exposing their back four much.
Guzan, however, needs to fuck off and play volleyball or something, because his feet are about as much use as tits on a salmon.
-
i like this kid , hes terrific

Guzan rubbish, Lescott rubbish. Prepare for more 'not my fault' stuff from Sherwood.

I understand , but this bloke has cost us more points
-
what the fuck
villa player booked
-
wanking ref
-
After all the fouls by Ramires Ayew gets a yellow for his first foul
-
Any changes?
-
At least we've got plenty of time to get an equaliser.
-
why would you give the ball to lescott anyway - so thick
Maybe his instructions are to give it to the nearest defender rather than hoofball.
you would think they would say but not if the players under pressure
-
Any changes?
Only for them - Matic on for Loftus-Cheek(sp?)
-
no blame on Tim (not a fan) for not picking Amavi - he was absolute garbage last game.
-
Any changes?
Ha!
-
Cheers

For sure. He's also won us a lot of points too let's not forget. A couple of seasons ago he was a key reason to us staying up. But recently he's found ways to be utterly dreadful at times and what is most concerning there is no sign of it coming to an end.
-
2-0
-
Haven't seen chelsea as poor as this for many a year. Created virtually nothing.
-
fucking useless
-
Ah let the floodgates open.
-
Jammy bastards. Huge deflection. Game over
-
luck is out
-
c*nt luck. We have c*nt luck.
-
Haven't seen chelsea as poor as this for many a year. Created virtually nothing.
and 2 up
-
I said to someone yesterday Costa needs some goals, must be delighted to be playing the Villa.
What the fuck is Hutton up to.
And how many fucking deflected goals have Villa let in this season!
-
Bollocks
-
Sigh. Guzman again, Lescott, again. Pair of fucktards.
You or your autocorrect always get Brad's surname wrong. Make it stop!
Fucking autocorrect bastard.
Or Niall Quinn as I like to call him.
-
throw adama on now
-
As absolutely shit as you are, don't worry, Villa will see you right.
-
Bollocks. Just bollocks.
-
I said to someone yesterday Costa needs some goals, must be delighted to be playing the Villa.
What the fuck is Hutton up to.
And how many fucking deflected goals have Villa let in this season!
Hutton? Hid you see the space Richards gave him to receive the ball.
-
I really have got that sick feeling about this season. Smethwick score as well
-
I said to someone yesterday Costa needs some goals, must be delighted to be playing the Villa.
What the fuck is Hutton up to.
And how many fucking deflected goals have Villa let in this season!
It has happened so many times. Falcao needed a goal for Man U come to Villa Park and we provided. I recall Torres for Liverpool before that going through a sticky patch and enjoying a game once again at VP. We are such a charitable bunch. I know there are loads in between too.
-
Worst season ever so far. Terrible.
-
I'd take a draw now.
-
As absolutely shit as you are, don't worry, Villa will see you right.
Absolutely first fixture to check for these days for the opposition.
-
We're gonna lose for sure, baggies 1-0 up, now 7 points adrift - time for a change before it's too late.
-
its our year isnt it . we really havent looked like scoring really
-
We've created little and are worryingly unlucky. Looks like a bit of a circus to be honest.
-
As much as some of this can definitely be considered unfortunate on Sherwood I think he will still find himself out of a job on Monday.
-
Needs to get Adama on pdq
-
I said to someone yesterday Costa needs some goals, must be delighted to be playing the Villa.
What the fuck is Hutton up to.

Hutton? Hid you see the space Richards gave him to receive the ball.
While Westwood stood watching.
-
Just fucking purgatory being a Villa fan at the moment
-
Sherwood has to go end of. Same errors bad luck week in week out....
-
Again Westwood plays us into trouble.
-
when youre playing the worse chelsae team Ive seen in years and probably edged it without really looking like scoring and youre 2-0 down with errors and bad luck , It tells me we are in bloody trouble.
-
This is fucking abysmal
-
Just fucking purgatory being a Villa fan at the moment
Its been a bloody long fucking "moment"...
-
Needs to get Adama on pdq
It won't help. You can have Messi and Ronaldo up front and it wouldn't make a difference with this defence.
-
I said to someone yesterday Costa needs some goals, must be delighted to be playing the Villa.
What the fuck is Hutton up to.
And how many fucking deflected goals have Villa let in this season!
Hutton? Hid you see the space Richards gave him to receive the ball.

Hutton. Westwood. Richardson. Keeper a shell of his former self.
No wonder we are doomed. Seriously.
-
We can play all night and not score.
-
Why is Costa playing off Hutton? What the hell is Richards doing?
-
How the fuck can you be 7 points adrift after 9 games.
7 fucking points!!
This can only end one way.
-

Didn't Diego Forlan have a horrendous spell for Man u? ...Until the charity that is Aston Villa duly answered the call.
-
The footballing gods have definitely had enough of us stinking up the Premier League
-
I'm genuinely not interested in any excuses, bad luck, individual mistakes, playing Chelsea (who I think would be losing to most teams today), I am just not interested in any of that shit.
Week after week absolute rubbish.
We have to start to show a bit of pride and say that this isn't acceptable. There are pretty much no other clubs which would accept mediocrity as much as we do.
-
Westwood, Richardson and Guzan should not be starting at the moment, whatever you think about them in general. Their form is non-existent, and yet they keep playing - or, in Richardson's case, is inexplicably brought in.
-
Of all the fcukin seasons they pick to be their worst they pick this one when the money gets totally absurd at the end of it.
-
Amavi and Traore for Westwood and Gil maybe
Chelsea have been truly awful
-

Enough of this shite.

7 fucking points!!

It's only 4 - 7 points behind Smethwick
-
This ref is a twat.!szpil whatever his name is just pulled Ayews shirt nothing Richardson does it yellow card!
-

-

We're not 7 points adrift of safety. It's still only 4. I realize that is still utterly shit.
-
Westwood is the complete packaged liability
-
So no subs as yet from Sherwood
-
Who is the co-commentator? Seems sympathetic to us.
-
He now wastes a sub bringing on Amavi for Richardson. Could still have three subs had he done the fucking obvious and started with, you know, a good player, instead of a journeyman English nothing.
-
One thing we will hear is "yeah but what do you expect from an away match at Chelsea?"
Sadly if we hadn't garnered such a pathetic return from a decent set of opening fixtures we wouldn't be in this position.
-
Tony gale, he's been very good today
-
I'm genuinely not interested in any excuses, bad luck, individual mistakes, playing Chelsea (who I think would be losing to most teams today), I am just not interested in any of that shit.
Week after week absolute rubbish.

Agree. Sick of watching this lot bumbling along - it's not even mediocrity (I'd take a bit of that) it's turgid nonsense.
-
Tony gale, he's been very good today
He is s good pundit.

youre about rigth Rob
they are championship players along with gabby who always gets a start if fit
-
Randy is going to have to put his hand in his pocket and cough up for a quality striker. He did it with Bent, and he's going to have to do it again.
-
Mediocrity seems miles off.
-
How the fuck can you be 7 points adrift after 9 games.
7 fucking points!!
This can only end one way.
I know. When we're that bad i fear we are not turn around-able. Not by anyone.
-
We are finished as a premier league club I'm afraid. Chelsea have been poor, but haven't had to break sweat.
-
Randy is going to have to put his hand in his pocket and cough up for a quality striker. He did it with Bent, and he's going to have to do it again.

Exactly. You can come up with an excuse for every match we've lost, but the point is that if you can't expect to beat anyone in the Premier League then you shouldn't be in it.
-
I said to someone yesterday Costa needs some goals, must be delighted to be playing the Villa.

Of course he did.
-
Fuck off ref
-
Sherwood with a face like someone just shit in his pie.
-
We are finished as a premier league club I'm afraid. Chelsea have been poor, but haven't had to break sweat.
If it means at some stage we get our pride back and identity as a football club instead of the fucking joke we've become then so be it, enjoyable this ain't.
-
Ayew's done better than Gestede, so he's going off.
-
Traore on for Ayew. Now got the line up I'd have started with. (Except Sanchez for Westwood obvs)
-
Chelsea have been very very poor. We have been so toothless and ponderous in attack it is scary. We are fucked.
-
another foul by them no card
-
Thought Ayew did alright to be honest
-
Gestede is a fucking statue.
-
Sherwood is not going to turn this around. He needs to go tonight.
-
half chance - block by chelsea
-
I'm genuinely not interested in any excuses, bad luck, individual mistakes, playing Chelsea (who I think would be losing to most teams today), I am just not interested in any of that shit.

Yep agreed you could have bet everything you own on us losing this game and this is a Chelsea team that's on their knees currently.
-
Chelsea have been very very poor. We have been so toothless and ponderous in attack it is scary. We are fucked.
Our lack of any response when we go behind is shocking.
-
I missed the corner - was it a shit one
-
Off-load this Chump before it's too late.
-
Taxi for Tim
-
another corner
-
Who are three worse sides than us? Sunderland but will probably get out of it with Sam. Newcastle maybe? Bournemouth Watford? Can't think of many others.
-
You know, I'm watching this and I'm thinking, this Villa team is a team that really isn't bothered.
There is no passion, fight, or desire.
And there is certainly no belief.
They are going through the motions, and then just barely.
-
dull
-
How the fuck can you be 7 points adrift after 9 games.
7 fucking points!!
This can only end one way.
We're not 7 points adrift of safety. It's still only 4. I realize that is still utterly shit.
Baggies are winning
-
Good free kick by Gil. Corner from the right. Who's taking? Westwood, obviously. Nice loft to the edge of the area, bet Mourinho shat himself.
-
Randy is going to have to put his hand in his pocket and cough up for a quality striker. He did it with Bent, and he's going to have to do it again.
Can't see that happening again to be honest.
The twat on the other side of the pond is the root cause of this. He is a cancer on this great club
-
Amavi is a liability.
His defending... well, you can't really call it defending. It's more like he's attacking for the opposition.
-
Thommo just said we haven't turned up this half.
-
You know, I'm watching this and I'm thinking, this Villa team is a team that really isn't bothered.
There is no passion, fight, or desire.
And there is certainly no belief.
They are going through the motions, and then just barely.
You mean like a team who've been reading they weren't the managers picks for the last two weeks?
-
Any team on a bad run and desperate for a win, along come the Villa to help you out and get your season back on track.
Going down my lord.
-
Free kicks and corners never beat the first man.
What do they do all week?
-
Absolutely fucking hopeless. Chelsea have been just as poor as they have been of late, but we still couldn't do anything.
-
he dont book chelsesa players
-
The strange thing is some of these players are actually decent.
The longer we leave it, the more likely we will go down.
-
Considering Sherwood's big strength is meant to be his cheeky chappy motivational ability, the players look miserable as sin, and there's not much in the way of urgency. The attacking players should be demanding the ball and coming to look for it, but they seem to be hiding a lot.
-
Absolutely fucking hopeless. Chelsea have been just as poor as they have been of late, but we still couldn't do anything.
Iknow - look at what soton did ;( sad times
-
It's a long season, By Nove he will be gone with anymore of this. Any later to get someone in may be too late
-
No threat now against a poor Chelsea side.
-
chelsae player booked - only cause he back chatted thou was letting him off.
-
Probably both teams happy with the scoreline...makes me fuckin cry. Aston villa are just a toy for the owner , the manager, too many players and for opposition teams.
-
Randy is going to have to put his hand in his pocket and cough up for a quality striker. He did it with Bent, and he's going to have to do it again.
Can't see that happening again to be honest.

House!
-
"Aston Villa have just not turned up this half". - Phil Thompson on Sky Sports, fucking disgraceful, absolutely fucking disgraceful.
-
at least we are giving it a real go
-
Time to go. Abysmal second half.
-
Considering Sherwood's big strength is meant to be his cheeky chappy motivational ability, the players look miserable as sin, and there's not much in the way of urgency. The attacking players should be demanding the ball and coming to look for it, but they seem to be hiding a lot.
This is part of the reason I don't want Moyes. Personality matters, that's what Sherwood brought last season - however, it's turned out that he's not so much full of confidence as not in control of his emotions, which seem to be infectious one way or another. Moyes, not exactly the cheeriest at the best of times and also feeling the stress this season at Sociedad, wouldn't give this team the emotional spark back.
-
Is it too much to ask to be able to take a decent corner for christ's sake?
-
I'd love to see Lerner and his cronies shortlist of twats they've drawn up for the next go at work experience in the Premier League with the Villa.
-
Another woeful Westwood corner
-
Wow, that was one of the worst corners I've seen in ages
-
at least we are giving it a real go
Being sarcy? Yes?
-
Only an experienced manager can save us, not somebody learning/blagging their way in football management.
-
I'd love to see Lerner and his cronies shortlist of twats they've drawn up for the next go at work experience in the Premier League with the Villa.
Sneak preview:
Howard Wilkinson, Dave Bassett, Curbishley...
-
Wow, that was one of the worst corners I've seen in ages
The last one against Stoke was one to behold!
-
Chelsea won't have an easier game til they play us again
-
Wow, that was one of the worst corners I've seen in ages
That guarantees his starting position until Christmas
-
at least we are giving it a real go
Being sarcy? Yes?
definitely!
-
Time to go. Abysmal second half.
Is that you, Sherwood or the Club?
-
At least the 'but we only lose by 1 goal' brigade will shut up.
-
the players just taking their wages now - dull as fook
-
That phrase, 'we only lose by one goal' is exactly three words too long
-
How many times have we said that we have just witnessed a truly dreadful 45 minutes?
This second half is right up there with the very worst.
-
If Richards was any sort of captain he'd have that fucker Westwood up the wall in the changing room warning him what will happen if he touches another corner. If he's the best we have then we ain't even Championship standard. He's complete and utter pap at every aspect of football.
-
to me Sherwood should go
BECAUSE HE LETS WESTWOOD TAKE CORNERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Never thought I'd pray for a Sunderland equaliser. 7 points adrift in mid October is really fcukin scary.
-
Sherwood out, Moyes in. Just do it for Christ sake!
-
There's a fair amount of aimless ambling going on now.
-
Costa really is a piece of shit
-
At least the 'but we only lose by 1 goal' brigade will shut up.
It will be the 'it was Chelsea, what did you expect' argument.
-
I'm genuinely not interested in any excuses, bad luck, individual mistakes, playing Chelsea (who I think would be losing to most teams today), I am just not interested in any of that shit.

Enough of this shite.
too bloody true
we have shown the patience of saints over the past 5 seasons
-
MOYES
-
Hurry up and get fit Clark and Okore!
-
This Westwood corner thing is just a sick joke now.
Time for change, before its too late, if it isn't already
-
Never thought I'd pray for a Sunderland equaliser. 7 points adrift in mid October is really fcukin scary.
Bournemouth only have 8 points and are 4-1 down at Citeh - we are only 4 points adrift. We are 7 points behind the Stripeys.
-
hutton will be our top scorer ffs
-
How Westwood continues to take corners is beyond me.
-
mourinho pus his hand up and then theres a card - cnut
-
I fucking hate these
-
Grealish totally anonymous since half time.
We are really going to struggle to get goals again this term im afraid.
-

That makes me feel slightly better.

Gestede is a decent striker but he's simply not suited to this squad or style of play. We're trying to play fairly tippy-tappy stuff, largely through the middle or down the channels. Gestede needs wingers who can scoot to the bye-line and drill crosses over. Players like Townsend or Lennon, funnily enough.
Although our signings have been pretty decent in terms of quality, I would question what system they were purchased to play in. Did Sherwood specify how he wanted to play, with Almstadt and co then going away to identify appropriate signings? Or did Almstadt decide on a style of play and then expect Sherwood to follow it?
To me, it doesn't look like there was enough consultation over the summer. It looks a mess.
-
Sherwood should have gone after Stoke if they don't sack him now they never will
-
How Westwood continues to take corners is beyond me.
How he keeps getting in the team is beyond me. Championship player at a stretch
-
At least the 'but we only lose by 1 goal' brigade will shut up.
It will be the 'it was Chelsea, what did you expect' argument.
It sure will. Next week it will be Swansea are in good form and have been stable for years, the week after it's Everton, great club really good team and decent manager, then it's Spurs, who have spent more than us so what do we expect.
We have to wait until we play Bournemouth or Watford at home.
-
They're not going to sack him
-

He will go after we lose to Swansea
-
Never thought I'd pray for a Sunderland equaliser. 7 points adrift in mid October is really fcukin scary.
Bournemouth only have 8 points and are 4-1 down at Citeh - we are only 4 points adrift. We are 7 points behind the Stripeys.
That makes me feel slightly better.
It probably doesn't really but I know what you mean.
-
They're not going to sack him
They will, they'll have to.
-
The team has no confidence; they look like they're waiting for the axe to fall and have no answer at all to going behind. No belief, no clue.
-
Guzan needs dropping next game
-
Sherwood should have gone after Stoke if they don't sack him now they never will
If they sack him after losing to Chelsea away, well, they look stupid again. God what a shambles.
-
I'd get Kevin Keegan in.
With the players we have, he'd attack the fuck out of every team we played. Winning 3/4 out of 10 like that would suit me.
-
4 points from 36 and he deserves to keep his job?
-
this makes me nostalgic for Lambert
-
Diego Costa is a nasty fucker.
-

That's absolutely spot on, depressingly
I can't stand this limp, placid acceptance of absolute rubbish.
Four points from what is now the first quarter of the season - in which we have had plenty of winnable games - is beyond pathetic
-
poor
-
Desperate times
-
4 points from 36 and he deserves to keep his job?
Errrrr
-
Will be toxic next week if he stays and we are crap.
-
Second game in a row that Adama has kept the fucking ball way too long, he's becoming annoying.
-
this makes me nostalgic for Lambert
Now, now. There is no room for that sort on nonsense.
-
What the fuck was that floaty shity shot there from Grealish, crap.
-
Westwood couldn't even get cross with Costa.
-
Imagine paying Ģ50 + travel and expenses to watch this shit
-
Sherwood should have gone after Stoke if they don't sack him now they never will
He will go after we lose to Swansea
is that who we play last game of the season
-
4 points from 36 and he deserves to keep his job?
Sorry, 4 points from 27! Although it might be 4 from 36 the way we're going!
-
The team just look miserable, despondent, listless. I'm not totally sure that Moyes, who's sourer than a lemon who's walked in to find Mrs. Lemon in bed with the milkman, would really cure the problem.
-
What a pethetic performance. Fully anaemic. No movement going forward, no responsibility. No passion. Going through the motions and ticking off another game. I am putting decent money on us dropping tonight before the odds are no longer worth it. 3-4 games time we will be 10 adrift, not 4. Fucking heartless.
-
Sherwood's substitutions have no positive effect yet again.
-
Absolute dross second half.
Accepting Westwood in the team, not good enough
Accepting selling Benteke and replacing with Gestede, not good enough
Accepting 7 defeats in 9 games, not good enough
Accepting a goal keeper who can barely use his feet to walk nevermind kick a ball, not good enough
Accepting Richardson and Hutton as your full backs, not good enough
Accepting a chairman who repeatedly makes stupid appointments all through out the club, not good enough
The whole club fucking stinks to high heaven of people either promoted above their stations, on a last pay day, or just don't give a shit.
I'm at the point where I almost want relegation, just to break the monotony of being whipping boys. I'm at my limit with this flaccid club. Sort your fucking selves out or get out!! You greedy, useless Bastards.
-
this makes me nostalgic for Lambert
Obviously never watched a game under Lambert then I assume?
-

Any manager who can set a team up and Instill a bit of confidence will do. Sherwoods chopping and changing has destroyed the team spirit.
-
That's that then.
-
He should be sacked immediately after the game. To lose 8 of your first 10 games of the season is utterly unacceptable for a club like the Villa.
I curse the day that charlatan Lerner took over.
-
Never thought I'd pray for a Sunderland equaliser. 7 points adrift in mid October is really fcukin scary.
Being 7 points behind Albion doesn't matter, were 4 adrift of Bournemouth in17th and 5 behind Norwich 6 behind Watford (im discounting Stoke) I am hanging my hat on keeping in touch with and catching those but cannot see that without a managerial change.
-

Not just the chopping and changing, it's everything - his demeanour, attitude, the way he goes out of his way to blame players and take the heat off himself, it's all so demoralising.
-

1 point from 8 games.
To not get rid of him after today is crazy just because it is Chelsea - he has had 7 games before this of ineptitude.
-
My Lambert comment was of course tongue in cheek - has everyone lost their sense of humour!
-
How the hell were Gil, Grealish and Westwood still on the pitch at the end? Bunch of lily livered wimps.
-
My Lambert comment was of course tongue in cheek - has everyone lost their sense of humour!
yes
-
We need a BFR who makes them sing on the team bus. Anybody who can get the players to smile and relax.
-
'David, it's Randy. We need you. Now.'
-
He won't come Mr U. He likes it in Spain.
-
My Lambert comment was of course tongue in cheek - has everyone lost their sense of humour!
Right now, quite probably.
-
I actually feel numb now. I have no excitement, expectation or even flight of fancy when it comes to match days. Most of our play in the middle of the park is much better than under Lambert; the passing is crisper, more inventive and attacking, but everything else in woeful. The defensive mistakes are beyond amateur and to say the attack is toothless is an understatement.
If there is anything a "new team" needs, its a rigid structure and a firm philosophy. Sherwood offers neither.
He is desperately looking for a solution, hoping that he will stumble upon it and that is what I see reflected in our team. Nothing more than a 'hope' that it will come good.
No one can see what he's trying to do and that IS the biggest worry.
I feel that Sherwood has to go
-

Yes. Sorry anyway ;-)
