Dippers to win this. We have to be at full throttle to get anything from this. Too many players still settling in, and, plus we are carrying Gabby if he starts again. All this will maintain our inconsistent form. 2-0 to the Dippers. But we'll play well for good parts of the game.

You've had a poor start to the season.
You're not playing well.
Your manager is under pressure.

But don't panic.  Look who you've got up next... AVFC. The fixture most guaranteed to put a club or out of form striker's season back on track...

Scoring more than one, a feat they've managed just once since the 13th of April, and that was against QPR.

Guzan
Hutton Richards Clark Amavi
Westwood Sanchez gana / veretout
Gil ayew grealish

Gestede scored but away from home is lack of mobility and generally appalling touch isn't what we need. Sinclair hasn't done anything away from villa park either

Bit risky that team above because ayew hasn't played that role for us yet (well) but I think that's how I'd go.

Liverpool are in a mess and not playing well so they are there for the taking and we need to get at them early. This isn't the Liverpool of old that would swarm when they go a goal down...their current team are more likely to collapse and capitulate if we take the game to them.

2-0 Villa and the Anfield crisis talks will be all over the media.

Fenway Sports Group, the owners of Liverpool Football Club, have decided to sack Brendan Rodgers.

This is according to talkSPORT, who claim to have been told that Rodgers will be replaced at Anfield - but not by former Borussia Dortmund head coach Jurgen Klopp.

It was revealed earlier today, by Sky Sports, that Klopp would be willing to end his sabbatical early if the “right job” became available in the Premier League. But, in news that will disappoint a significant number of Liverpool fans, it seems FSG are not actively pursuing the revered German coach.

I know because of payout concerns most managers don't, but if the club were already publically shopping new managers I would resign. I don't usually wish bad on other, non-rival clubs but I do love me some large club turmoil. Man, Benteke and Delph's moves seemed to have turn sour pretty quickly. Whatever.

Regarding the sack, I'll believe it when I see it. But we might, just might, have a chance on the weekend.

Last season was 10/1, had a decent day at the bookies .

Betting against Liverpool is always a good option, on the basis of price. They attract a lot of Asian punters who just pile money on Liverpool regardless of who they're playing, so their opponents are very frequently overpriced.

This is one of those games that we absolutely must start fast and get right into them. They won't like and the crowd will turn quickly if we can get an early lead. We simply must not let them get any kind of momentum because they still have good players that can hurt us. The other night they had almost 50 shots which is crazy. The chances of them not converting chances if they keep creating them are pretty slim, and we don't need to be on the receiving end. This can get very ugly for Liverpool if we believe in what we can do as opposed to worrying about stopping them. Something I don't like at all about Sherwood's recent approach to games.

Liverpool aren't doing well but then neither are we, I'd probably take a draw now but hope for a win.

We will likely concede as we always seems too but can we score? I guess it depends "if" Villa turn up, against Albion we didn't and for 45min against the scum we weren't there either. The same can be said for most of this seasons games.

It's going to take time for the team to gel but somehow while this is happening we must grind out results to keep the points tally ticking over.

We will either nick a win and edge Rodgers closer to the exit door (or possibly even out of it) or they will do us about 3-0 and he will buy himself a few more weeks. I think we will certainly find out one way or another whether he has lost the players or not by their performance or non performance for him.

I really think we can take these fuckers. Rogers is under pressure so if we can keep them quiet at the start, get their fans on his back then hit them with a second half like we did on Tuesday.

Time for Gabby to be dropped too. Ayew deserves a start after how well he did on Tuesday.

Can't see a clean sheet but I'll go 2 - 1.

Haven't we had a very good record the last few seasons of putting the coup de grace on managers who have been under pressure? The closer we get the more I'm feeling we might just finish off Rodgers. I change my mind to a hopeful 2-1 Villa, Gestede winner again.

I've had a couple of 'The Mighty Reds YNWA' fans come up to me at work today saying they hope we win to push him over the edge!!

I have a feeling that tomorrow is the day we click - not sure we will win but I feel that we finally start to see the start of a decent side

Looking at the morning papers it's almost as if we are now under pressure to win and get him the sack to give them something to write about. Also, I bet there are a good few Liverpool fans who'd take a loss to get rid of him, there certainly is on my FB feed.  It'll be a huge anti climax for them all if Liverpool win 3-0.

wouldnt be the first time Aston Villa had got a manager the sack! that is one that doesnt manage Villa

in 2007 we helped in getting rid of Moaninho.....Doug sealed the deal :)

The BBC understands the impasse between Mourinho and Abramovich came to a head after their 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa earlier this month.

that will go down as the greatest, smuggest grin Aston Villa history. It's that "bad luck Roman, stick around I'll buy you a half a shandy in the bar after and we'll chat about the game" grin.

I'd play Bacuna instead of Hutton. He's got the ability to swing a decent cross over for Gestede.

Benteke, Firmino and (sadly) Love all out for Liverpool.

I see Sherwood says Traore will 'work with the balls' today. Never neglect the balls.

I wouldn't start Adama just yet, and certainly not in a match like this. I like Matt's team otherwise, but I'd have Gil in for Adama.

With players back it's good to have options, I just hope he picks a team and formation that can get a result.

It would have been a few weeks ago but he's been pretty much invisible since the Sunderland game. We can't afford to keep players in the team if they aren't contributing, and theres nothing wrong with rotating the squad and competition for places. Obviously Gabby needs to be dropped before Sinclair, but with new players finding their feet and coming back from injury then theres simply no place for passengers on match day.

1-1

Guzan
Hutton Richards Clark Amavi
Sanchez
Veretout       Westwood
Ayew                                 Grealish
Gestede

Sinclair and Richardson for Gestede and Veretout.

Sinclair does put in a shift covering Amavi, edges it over Gil on that basis.

Gestede dominated Liverpool last year in the cup but think Amavi's mobility with Grealish and Sinclair supporting is the way to go. Gestede, Gil and maybe Traore waiting in the wings, nice to have proper options.

The longer we can frustrate the crowd the better our chances, they are baying for the head of Rodgers up there, if we can keep it tight and Nick a goal it could get very messy for liverpool

Like the look of that team. Got a feeling he will bring on Traore on for the last half hour. And after their "tiring" mid week game. He is the last player that defence will want to see ......0-2 UTV .........

Hopefully Ayew will have gained confidence from his performance in midweek. Likewise Vertout who came more into the game the longer it went on and is obviously a talent.

Just can't get excited about this one. Beating this lot is almost on the same level as blues to me, simply because LFC supporters are so deluded about their significance, and the whole 'history' thing is boring.
Think they'll do us 3-1 though.
