MK Dons away so I can tick off their stadium without having to give them any money for a game not involving a team I support.I'm going there for the rugby World Cup next Thursday!
When's the draw?
Surely it's gotta be an away tie. We've had 10 home cup ties in a row, the last away tie was Millwall in the FA Cup Jan 2013. The odds on 11 in a row must be massive.

The odds on getting eleven home times in a row is one in 2,048.
However, as we've already had ten in a row the odds on getting an eleventh is, as Paulie states, one in two.
As a one-off choice - there are two options home or away - therefore 1 in 2Brilliant thanks for clearing that up. I can sleep now.
But there are 2 to 11th power )(=2048) chances of getting 11 homes in a row
Easy

I'd like Hull away, there's a brilliant curry house near the ground

Plus, it's really hard to find a decent curry house in Birmingham.

Southampton away, could be worse.

The last two times we've played Blues in the cup the winners of the tie have gone on to win the trophy. So Southampton may as well not bother turning up.

Every time I thought?
When we won it in 94 didn't we play a team in red and white stripes? (Sunderland) This could be a sign :)

We did, and has utterly zero relevance.

We play the previous Saturday while they're playing on the Sunday.
Could be handy if our game is on the Tuesday.
City, Liverpool, ManU, Everton, Villa, Arsenal, Leicester & Chelsea in the last eight then - no more easy draws for us this season!

It'll be on the Wed for that very reason. Three days recovery being the norm.
When do we have them in the league, is it around that time? Hate it when that happens, the opposition usually has the measure of you after the first game leading to stalemate.

3200 tickets, £12.
I'm gutted that we've been drawn against a financially solvent club with such a renowned academy. They will destroy us
3200 tickets, £12.Hmmm tempting

Fair play to southampton for those prices.
Without wishing to sound like our nearest friends, can we apply for a bigger allocation if demand is high? Being a cup game and assuming the police don't object and all that?
You can't do much with £12 these days. I'll either go the game or get one of those M&S dine in for two meal deals for £10 that night and bank the other £2.

It's a bitch of a place to get to from the midlands and back midweek. Why not just put it on general sale? Those that want tickets will get them surely? We'll probably end up returning some I would think.

Crikey that's cheap.
Crikey that's cheap.
That's probably because they don't rate us as an attractive match.
What's the point? There's no way we're winning this or any other game on the horizon. That's the spirit

Tickets sorted and hotel booked. It's been a long time since I've done an evening game. Pretty excited, despite how woeful we currently are. When I told my wife we'd be spending a couple of days in Southampton as part of our trip to the UK, the first thing she said was "is there a genuine tourist attraction there, or are the bloody Villa playing?!" Rumbled.
It's very handy for The New Forest if that's any help? Lymington is lovely once you get through the traffic.......and, errrrm..... there might be a big impressive ship in at the docks that you could go and see.
Can't think of anything else.

Ferry to the Isle of Wight?
Still out with the begging bowl....Gonna send you a PM with my details, got both cup games on it as well OK
I'm on the scrounge, chaps. Anyone got a reference I can pinch for this, ideally ST plus the two cup games, or whatever we're up to for qualifying now? Kids one will do, it's time the nephew did his first away.
Ta.

Don't we usually convert the draw thread into the pre-match?
I dont give a shit about this game. Play the kids or forfeit the game, we have real problems to worry about. This is just a distraction or a place for our players to get injured.

Sorry :( But yeah, I find it hard to get excited about this game when we have relegation like a toothache in the background.
We'll win 7-1 now.
I hope Kevin Mac does better than that game at the Toon when we let in six.

It says a lot about both football and Villa that this needs to be said.
I'd get N'Zogbia in too. Last year of his contract, drifting int he reserves, he'll be busting a gut to prove Sherwood wrong and to get a contract somewhere.

What's Reo-Coker doing these days? If he's a free agent maybe we could sign him up. If not, we'll go back in for him in January.I'd get N'Zogbia in too. Last year of his contract, drifting int he reserves, he'll be busting a gut to prove Sherwood wrong and to get a contract somewhere.
He's had 4 season's to prove people wrong. I think that's long enough.
Guzan
Richards Okore Clark Amavi
Gueye Sanchez
Adama Gil Grealish
Ayew
Thats what I'd like to see, that on paper, and in theory looks a bloody good line up with creativity in abundance, no shortage of movement and a few that are not afraid too get stuck in, my only question mark would be the tracking back of Grealish/Adama to help the full backs but we can deal with that when were 0-3 up.
We need to rotate as MNF at spuds is far more important .Sherwood rotated them every week. They must all be dizzy with it by now.

I wouldn't play any of them on Saturday.
Might set a record for the longest warm up in history.I wouldn't play any of them on Saturday.
They'll be standing around for a hell of a long time waiting for the opposition if we do play any of them on Saturday.
I would like to see Ayew given a few games leading the line, i thought his positioning on Saturday was very good if Gabby had picked him out it would have been a tap in.
Bunn
Richards Okore Clark Amavi
Veretout Sanchez Gueye
Gil
Ayew Kozak
Bench - Guzan, Bacuna, Ilori, Gardner, Grealish, Sinclair, Gestede
.... for me.
Gil has looked more likely to break down defences that Grealish when he comes on, Kozak is a more natural footballer than Gestede and can hold the ball up, while Ayew has the pace. Richards has to just suck it up and play where we need him. Bench has some height, speed, trickery and dead ball skills - depending on what's needed.
Can Llori play at RB ? Might be a good idea to blood him.

I'd forgotten all about him! Haven't seen him so don't know where he plays.

Bottom of the league; no manager; 150 miles away from home; on a cold Wednesday night; in the cup competition a lot of teams don't take seriously - and we're taking over 3,000.
That is phenomenal support, lets absolutely smash them tomorrow and bring some confidence and positivity back to the club.

Is there a Kev Mac press conference?Apparently not.
Could do with the lads rolling their sleeves up and putting in a shift tonight. As pointed out earlier, a cup run is never bad for morale and could help us out of this hole we are in

Arrived in Southampton yesterday evening. Was naturally pumped for this, but the fact that it's a sell-out has just added to it all. Massive respect to both supporters and huge credit to Southampton's board/marketing team/whoever's responsible for setting the prices at a very appealing £12.We hope to be there by about 6, MV.
I'll be in the Joshua Tree pub quite early this afternoon with the wife, if anyone wants to join us - she's the one with Aussie accent!

I think we have to have 2 deep lying midfielders with 1 in front tonight or we will be walked through and never have the ball. As such I would go

You need to get yourself back over to the Sherwood thread, I answered your question but you conveniently chose to ignore the answer. You know, about you making stuff up?
Playing Clark and Okore together is a big risk as both will lack match fitness. I'd stick with Richards there alongside Clark. Please no to Nzog - surely we have enough options now to forget about this journeyman? Hope Kozak gets a run out.
Danish TV showing 3 out of 4 games, but not ours - they see it is a walkover and not interesting...Grrrrr
