Who is the better manager? And do you think he would do a big Eck and defect if he was offered the Villa job?
-
What's that smell?
-
The Villa one.
-
I vote for the one that likes Villa.
-
Both of them are unproven at their current level. But even if Rowett aces the whole season, it doesn't mean he could cut it in the Premier League. Plenty of managers have looked like world-beaters in the second division, taken a step up and done nothing. We could all name half-a-dozen off the top of our heads.
-
i like both sherwood and rowett, not convinced by either of them yet. a full season for both and then ill have a better idea
-
Who loves the Villa more? Rowett or Sherwood? Probably Rowett until Tim's won something with us.
-
Who cares?
Although Rowett is, like us, a proper Villa fan by birth, whereas Sherwood is new Villa.

El Mayor is a that lot.com person.
It'll obviously take him a while to get used to a forum with fewer threads about Villa than he's used to, and some of the clever, big words will be confusing to start with, but I'm sure he'll settle in quite nicely.
-
No shit Sherlock (Street).
-
Who are more obsessed with Villa , albion or small heath ?
We could count up the number of new members who join this site before each respective game pretending (badly) to be Villa fans.
-

Who better to manage Obsessed with da Villa Fc than a Villa fan? I bet he loves it, hearing Villa mentioned every minute of the day.
-
To be fair, he's hardly come on here and abused us or the club. To ask who we think is the better manager is reasonable and i suspect the second question is borne out of fear that IF Rowett is good then at some point we'd try and poach him due to his original allegiance (and many other reasons).
-
I'd always back a Villa fan.
-
Welcome, Sherwood's been a pleasant surprise, I had him down as a mouthy twat who'd fill us with spurs rejects when he came in, he's still a mouthy twat but he's our mouthy twat, his signings and approach too the game have been refreshing, I haven't seen much of you lot but Rowett seems too have galvanized you, I was convinced you were fucked under Clark.
-
1) they've both done a good job so far as they inherited utter garbage.
2) in a heartbeat.
-
I have been massively impressed with Sherwood, didn't really want him if I am being honest, but has proved me wrong so far and far more positivity around the club now. Have to say Rowett comes across as a decent bloke, he is a Villa fan after all.
-
Considering the predicament the scum were in, Rowett has done one hell of a job, continues to impress, brought in some new guys who seem to be doing a job.
As for whether he could cut the mustard in the prem, I'd quite like to see him have his chance, and I feel this season he will make play offs.
Timmy was not my favoured manager, in fact I disliked the mouthy bleeder when at spuds.
Since then, he has really grown on me and surprisingly like his honesty and outlook.
You can see already he has bought into the club, he has brought in some good players, his type of football is very attack minded but very exciting and will be when team is in full flow and full of confidence.
I have a very sneaky feeling that after Xmas, villa are going to be a real treat to watch.
On the downside, I think the scum may frustrate us in a few weeks time, probably a couple of months to soon, although, the Leicester, Tesco stripes and the scum on the bounce may be what unites and bonds the team.
I think the team are in for a treat over the next few games as noise levels will hit the roof at villa park, there is no other place like it when playing the scum, the signs are all there for Grealish to become the new hero.

No shit Sherlock (Street).
Does anyone know where Sherlock Street is?
-
Gary Rowett has done fantastically well for SHA so far and will probably be managing a bigger club like Coventry or Wolves soon Tim however is managing in the First Division so therefore there can be no comparison. It's apples and oranges.
-
Must be weird to sing Shit on da Villa with a loyal Villa fan as manager. When we beat them in a couple of weeks it's win win for Rowett. That has to be shit for them knowing that.
-
No shit Sherlock (Street).
Does anyone know where Sherlock Street is?
Back end of Digbeth isn't it?

Soz if you're joking, but it's towards the bottom of Hurst Street then off to the right. The Oddfellows pub is down there, and COBS club where they have a few Mod nights. Being a Villa fan, I know this.
-
Being Villa fans we know where it is however to a brainless....
-
Sherlock Street is often mentioned on here and I am in the dark about it - anyone able to enlighten me?
-
I hope the Holte will give Gary Rowett a really warm welcome back to Villa Park. Considering the shit he has to work with he's done a fantastic job there but then you'd expect nothing less from a Villa man. Being the circus that they are, it's only a matter of time before he gets tired of the pointlessness of the Rags and looks for new challenges. I'd imagine there are a few bigger clubs like Derby, Boro, Bristol City or Leeds that unless they get promoted will be looking at him.
I really admire him for sticking there this season, a clear demonstration of loyalty, courage and self belief that even at a pisspot club (without a pot to piss in), he can still do the business. His team have cost just over a million and he has them so high up the table most are getting nose bleeds.
Is he potential Villa manager material? Obviously it would be his dream job and he'd give his all but right now it's far too early to say. He really needs a few years with a couple of decent clubs before we can really judge. I just hope he has the ambition to look up. Eventually the Rags will drag him down to their level. Good luck, Gary.

Barry took Sarah Jane Mee up the wrong 'un down there.

Blues fans were pissed off about something the council had done, I cant remember what, and met in town to protest about it, they were then going to march down to Sherlock St where the particular council dept was based, however the protest broke up when they couldn't find the street. Proper Brummies team they are.
Sherlock St is where they used to hold the Bham Real Ale Festival by the way if anyone went.

Marvellous.
-
Sherlock Street could well have been the inspiration behind Holmes' name, as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle once lived in Birmingham. With such literary credentials, no wonder the apes of Small Heath couldn't find it.

You may thank me any time. It's just another reason to love them for existing.
They exaggerate the numbers that will turn up, manage to include the Villa in what they do, and they got lost in the centre of the city they all claim to live in.
DEFIANT Blues fans took to the streets in protest against the decision not to allow an open-top bus tour through Birmingham to mark the team’s Carling Cup win.
Despite fans last week claiming thousands would gather for their own unofficial celebration, only around 100 gathered in the city centre’s Victoria Square having walked there in small groups following the civic reception at St Andrew’s yesterday.
They then marched through the streets, chanting: “We’re Birmingham City, we’ll do what we want,” as bewildered shoppers looked on.
They stopped outside Aston Villa FC’s official shop on New Street, where they shouted and swore to workers inside, before heading on through Bullring shopping centre up to the Chinese Quarter and along Hurst Street.
They started to disband after getting lost and failing to find Sherlock Street, where they had planned to end their protest over Birmingham City Council’s decision not to hold a parade due to health and safety reasons.
Andrew Henry, a 21-year-old trainee social worker, of Sheldon, attached a huge Blues flag to the columns of the Council House.
“I know I am speaking on behalf of every Birmingham City FC supporter when I say I am disappointed we didn’t get an open-top bus parade,” he said.
Brendan Anderson, 46, a builder of Bartley Green, who was in Victoria Square with his son Liam, 12, added: “I can’t believe we have been denied this parade, it’s a disgrace.”
Carer Kevin Roberts, aged 45, of Yardley, said: “I think it’s appalling. The official celebration was pathetic It would have been much better to have done something last week. It’s spoilt it for me really. It’s like we never won.”

So the consensus is Rowett is a Villa fan. Will the bed sheets come out with 'We Want Rowett' if the unthinkable happens?

I have no doubt Rowett will be privately delighted to see his boyhood team win at his favourite ground. How does that feel?
-

Yawn.
-
How does it feel being so sad and obsessed with us, that you take the time to register and post on a Villa site? Your life must be like the Sty on a match day, empty.
-
So the consensus is Rowett is a Villa fan. Will the bed sheets come out with 'We Want Rowett' if the unthinkable happens?
I wouldn't say it's unthinkable, big clubs often lose to minnows in the early rounds of this cup.
It's unlikely though, as your club is perennially shit.
And to turn your question on it's head, how will you lot react when you're getting tatered, and the camera pans to Rowett and he's laughing?
-
What time will the coaches be picking you up?
-
So the consensus is Rowett is a Villa fan. Will the bed sheets come out with 'We Want Rowett' if the unthinkable happens?
No need. If we do want him we'll just click our fingers and he'll be out of the Sty like a bat out of hell, just like your most successful manager ever was.

If 2008 is anything to go by, they'll already be sat on their coaches behind the Witton End at that point. Safe and sound for the trip back across the city....
-
So I am thinking of the two teams and larrrfing. Can you see their pile of shite standing up to Amavi, Gana, Grealish and Adama? They better say a prayer or two in the Mosque next door before they leave the Sty.
-

This just sums it up. Swore at workers inside.

While we've got one on, can I just ask: if we only get big (relative to b-lose) crowds because we're all glory hunters from Staffordshire, and you're the most successful team in the city this century, how come hardly anybody supports you?

Also, if I may add to that, if most of our fans are glory hunters from 'Wusta an Lemintun', why are they wasting their time supporting a team which hasn't won as many cups in modern history as Small Heath? Why not get their glory fix by supporting Man Utd, as many Small Heath fans do?

Because they like the colours baby pink and powder blue possibly?

What a sad fanny, on another teams forum at midnight. His life must be as empty as the nose trophy cabinet.
-
So is that why hardly anyone supports you then, in spite of your status as most successful local team this century? They don't like the colours?

You tell people about them and they wouldn't believe you.

I put it down to Solihull being a small place.

It's not "baby pink" or "powder blue", which, being so obsessed with us, you should know by now.
Blue-nose glory hunter, not quite up to speed yet, obviously.
More homework required.

I already gave away all my bed sheets quite a while back to donate them to the 'help Carson escape' plan.
-

I don't really see the point in debating whether Rowett is a Villa fan or not in the build up to the game. We will find out on the night. If he is still in the ground when the final whistle goes he is a Villa fan. If he has buggered off in a strop before that then he is a nose.
-
As far as wind up goes this is a pretty shite one to be fair, the difference between a Villa and blues fan is that we could hold a conversation about footballing matters with one of those, they find it impossible too do the same with us because of the inferiority complex that exists at their club. needless too say the SHA lot will be claiming some sort of moral victory out of it but just wait till footyskillz infiltrates their ranks.
-
When they get to play us again in 10 years, he will be all over their forum saying how he "did da Villa on their own patch" when talking about this thread. Actually, when he tells it there'll have been hundreds of them here, that's how it usually goes with them and numbers.
-

Night shift at the Rover innit. It's their excuse for everything.

What you need to ask yourself is this.
If Rowett were offered the Villa job, how long would he take to say 'yes'? Is there a stopwatch so accurate that it could measure the interval? Is there a unit of time that small?
-

Is that the best you can do? Your trolling is as embarrassing as your club.

Speaking as a proud, passionate Brummie, I have to take issue with that. Absolutely nothing is as embarrassing to this fine city as that so-called 'club'.
How the powers-that-be must wish they were still called Small Heath.

Wasn't there a pink and black Small Heath shirt at some point over the last few season? I thought that made that particular childish insult completely obsolete.
-
The really funny thing about the knuckledraggers' brainless 'pink an baby blue' jibe, is that their own shabby players actually wore a pink kit in 2012. And the socks were electric blue. The comedy never, ever ends with them.

Same here Percy. It really pains me that they desecrate the name Birmingham. I have in the past written to the City Council and local papers asking if anything can be done but waiting for an answer!

Who is the better manager? And do you think he would do a big Eck and defect if he was offered the Villa job?
Gary Rowett is a proven better manager so far anyway, doing a cracking job in very difficult circumstances.
He has more management experience than Sherwood and you can see that in his media dealings
Suspect he wont last the season at St Andrews, after all the money spent in the top two divisions in England this summer I think there will be plenty of vacancies that Rowett will have a chance at.
Of course he would defect but there are other championship clubs with plenty of money that would be a better fit for his next move.

Sorry Bronte, but how is Rowett a ''proven'' better manager? You mean with all his experience of managing a club at the highest level?

Fair play for giving a considered and insightful answer. When I read his posts I just see 'Please notice us'.

He has a lot of potential, but Lambert looked a cracking manager in divisions 2 and 3. His 'success' so far is losing twice in the division 3 playoffs with Burton, and not getting small heath relegated to division 3.

not getting them relegated was pretty phenomenal considering all that was going on in the background, they finished 10th
no guarantees of course as Lambert has proved, looked the right man at the time but was found badly wanting
To be fair AVFC has been a managerial graveyard for 25 years or so, most of those were arguably decent appointments at the time too

he has more experience managing clubs and getting the best out of the resources at his disposal
that is all a manager can do
would he be found wanting at a club like Villa or Newcastle right now? yes I suspect he would so a half way house to genuine championship contenders would be a bright move or ideally a stint in Europe.
too many young British managers get lost very early in their careers like Lambert for a variety of reasons but chief among them being unable to recognise their own limitations
-
10th in the Second division isn't phenomenal for me. Taking a club like Bournemouth with a ground smaller than the Holte End is phenomenal. There's a huge list of managers that have done bugger all like Rowett in football and a big list that have achieved multiple promotions and faded away which is a lot more. I'm not saying he's a bad manager, just that he's not proven anything, certainly not proven that he's better than Sherwood. We seem to forget what a sorry state we were, national joke level, when he took over and ended up staying up and in the FA Cup final. All done at a higher level than league 2 and the Championship.
-
Still can't get my head round "Birmingham City University"!
No it's not easy as it's a very wide building.
-
I think he has been hyped over the actual side he has produced, and on seeing blues admittedly only a couple times, hid tactics and style have reminded me a bit of O'Neill, kind of functional counter attack. If that will work week in week out in the prem remains to be seen. On the other hand I don't think Sherwood has worked out hid style or philosophy yet to be honest and I think his in game management leaves a lot to be desired, but his man management and will to attack is infectious and enjoyable to watch. I like him, but think there is going to have to be an improvement over time. Almost grow with the squad he has built. He is the first Villa manager I can recall in a long time who has had a coherent and well thought out transfer strategy which was impressive. Time will tell on both but Rowett will be in a premier league job before May so we will find out who is better then.
-
Feel sorry for Tim. I think he might be out of a job before the end of September :'(
-
Wahey, watched the Villa again have you? Of course, you're not obsessed though.
