Title: World Championship Athletics
Post by: Meanwood Villa on August 23, 2015, 08:28:19 AM
Haven't noticed a thread on this yet. Looks like Jessica Ennis-Hill will win gold again. Farah won yesterday in 10k, about the only thing that went right sports-wise. 100m final around 2.15 pm our time today. Being pitched as good v evil (Bolt v Gatlin) which does concern me a little if Bolt ends up being exposed as a doper. Still, for now he's alright so come on Usain.

It'll be a brilliant achievement from Jess, if she wins the gold, only 13 months after having a baby.

I really hope Bolt beats the serial cheat Gatling. Hopefully now Sebastian Coe is in charge, any Athlete failing a drug test is given a life ban straight away. Too many second chances and appeals have caused this situation. C'mon Usain!!

I heard that lifetime bans are unsustainable in a court of law...I could be wrong, but certainly there have been legal challenges to drugs bans in the US at least

I love Jess Ennis she's great and I hope she does it. Hope Bolt comes back to his best today too.

If so, that's why some Athletes will continue to cheat. It must be immensely frustrating for the honest 'clean' Athletes.

Looks like when JEH retires KJT will take up the mantle. As long as she sorts her feet out.

Hope Gatlin wins to embarass the sport into introducing life-time bans for drug cheats.

That's the movie right there.

I'd watch it!
That was so exciting and the right athlete won but to have the 'dodgy' one fall apart so close to winning...wow.

I'm not certain but I think, in order to do well in the Heptathlon, female athletes have to have at least a hyphenated, double-barrelled name FFS

Justin Gatlin would be a Chelsea fan.

Maybe Bayer Leverkusen, seeing as they're backed by a pharmaceutical company?

One of Bolts trainers was part of the US Balco doping scandal, not sure if he still works with him anymore.

If it's to do with the US, they call them "sneakers".

The "Bolt saves Athletics" idea isn't far removed from thinking that the Premier League and Man Utd saved English football.

Here's a bloke whose "ambassadorship" of the sport included only running when the money was right and when he wasn't going to be taxed on his earnings:

We are up to 2nd in medals table with 3 Golds only Kenya with 4 above us.
Yanks completely cocked up a couple of events this morning where they were favourites
400m Hurdles and potentially the Long Jump the top American didn't qualify for the final 3 jumps.

Has anyone else noticed there are now athletes using the "I just want to be called by a single name" bollocks?

Here's a single name for you: ******

and didn't a member of his family play for the Villa* and one of the home nations many years ago ?

UTV
The Doc

*so no he didn't :)

googled
It was not quite a super Saturday for Jock Rutherford at the old Crystal Palace on 15 April, 1905. In the southern suburbs of the city where his great grandson would strike Olympic gold in front of 80,000 in 2012, the right winger lined up before 101,117 for that year's FA Cup final. He was on the losing side, Newcastle going down 2-0 to Aston Villa.

It's all well and good people having a laugh at Bolt getting wiped out by that twat on one Segway, but he could have done some really serious damage to Bolts legs.

Didn't he just have a trial with us?

He did have a trial with us around thirteen years old but wasn't that interested. He prefered Athletics and it looks as if he made the right choice.

Jeez that Dutch woman has run the fastest 200m of all time if you exclude drug cheat Marion Jones and Flo Jo (whose achievements are now questioned).

Well we have a time up there with known dopers, rapid improvement from average to worlds best, jaw like David Coulthard I believe that's a full house!. Athletics has and always has had a massive problem but no one gives a shit because there's too much money involved. Coe won't do anything to rock the apple cart. They'll cherry pick there Villains to hang out to dry and make a show of them and leave the rest to continue as normal.

Mo. Farah does it again! Brilliant.

In other news, the men's relay team lost the baton change at the final handover.
I thought they'd sorted that out after a few disasters some time ago.

We always seem to mess the baton change up in the men's 4x100. Shame as I think relays are my favourite. They should do a marathon relay.
